as has been said above – riding in the rain is great when it’s warm, rubbish in the winter

Mad…they go to a place because its unspoilt and then they spoil it

    YEP

anyway, I can feel an arguement coming out of a perfectly reasonable OP, but ****, when did that ever stop anyone.

cotic soul – granted this may be due to the way it was set up, but it just felt wrong to me, top tube too long, head angle too steep, sat right over back wheel. Horrid.

bikes that look as if they are designed to fit into a niche promoted on internet forums, you know the rigid 29 fixie with the stupid bars and a beard.

Dog Tag are really good until you have to make a claim and then they pass you over to neverknowinglypaidout.com (or something like that), who are very bad.

I had to threaten legal action before getting a pay out from them.

The crux of this thread seems to be that he sometimes drives a not particularly special car that isn’t his and in some way feels we should envy him due to the assumption that we all drive lesser cars that aren’t ours and then only because the person who actually owns them does not earn enough to buy anything better.

I think the problem with the alternator could be solved by lewismorgan seeking psychiatric help.

It’s much worse now with smart phones. We’ve just been camping with friends for the weekend, one of whom spent much time on his iphone and used it to get on the net and check things on virtually every topic we discussed, exactly the sort of thing I try to get away from on a camping weekend.

There’s a good argument for spell checking before you post a topic about agruements….

    Lol

You’re always doing that, it’s your fault anyway. I blame Thatcher myself, if she hadn’t destroyed british industry in the 1970s, I’d be doing a proper job and have not time to type pointless **** like this.

I’ve got the montane, nice bit of kit and ideal to stick in the pocket or bag in case of a shower. if it pours u will get wet, but it keeps the wind off u so u don’t totally freeze.

not tried the endura, so generally not much help there then

It’s ok saying “grass him up to the plod”, but you have to live next to this guy.

I would say you want an apology, everything repaired/replaced that was damaged and a firm assurance that there will be no more drunken behaviour or you will go straight to the police.

Didsbury is supposed to be posh and is a decent place to live if you like going out to pubs etc. It’s popular with young professionals when they first move to manchester and featured in the TV programme Cold Feet. IMHO the reality is it isn’t really any better than many other bits of manchester and my car insurance went down when I moved out of that area.

Places to consider are all the south manchester areas mentioned above, Chorlton, Sale and Urmston to the west, prestwich to the north. Look at the metro link map for other options such as Altrincham. It really is a case of looking around these places as everyone has there own preference. If you consider marple/new mills etc, just be aware of how difficult it is to get to manchester/M60 by car.

The roadie world can be very cliquey and although getting better, some clubs are still like this.

multiple good riding options in almost every direction once u move to rammy, both on and off road.

I rode from Rammy to our dentist in Swinton a month or so ago. Is fine on road to the m60 where you go through philips park to near the prison, then back on quietish roads. Probably about an hour-ish.

If u give me your email I prob have the route file somewhere.

what you should say to them is this:

“People like me will come in and tell you how exciting Engineering is. They may talk about problem solving and inventing things, they may mention James Dyson or let you play with lego. The reality of the actual job is that you will spend less than 1% of your time on this type of thing, the rest of it will be spent on utterly tedious bollocks like risk reviews and quality plans. You will be underpaid compared to other professional people and most likely sit in an office on an industrial estate surrounded by bad smelling geeks in crap clothes”

use jobsite and monster – they circulate your CV around more agencies that you can even think of

make sure you update the CV posting on these sites every couple of weeks as new cvs get by far the most attention

I did a MTB trip from Pokhara to Kathmandu with KE adventure about 10 years ago, not quite what you are planning, but great. The route between these two places takes you along the foothills of some really big mountains – an amazing experience.

Anti-depressants can be used to ‘kick start’ your upwards curve

    yep

did affect my concentration/attention to activities that I didn’t really enjoy

    yep

I would say if you trust your GP and they are suggesting them to you, then give it a go. Just becuase you start does not mean you will be on them long term and you may never need them again.

I live in Ramsbottom and this event is quite good, pulls the crowds in, good for local cafes, shops etc.

The handling of this issue seems overly PC to me.

If you march around a jewish area dressed like hitler, then I could understand people taking offense. But at a WW2 weekend that isn’t in an area with a large Jewish community, I don’t see it that people want to dress up like that in order to provoke others.

would require an elaborate engineering solution by the looks of things.

The weeride child seat positions the passenger in the same place, but has it’s own bar that mounts just above the top tube, so that would work, but only if you’ve not already got the one in the OP, in which case, I’ve just wasted a few minutes typing all this out.

If it was the other way around, most employers would not have a problem with letting people go and loyalty soon gets forgotten.

Give them the chance to match it and if they don’t, wave ta ta.

Just make sure you have anything personal off the works PC/desk etc just in case they see their backside and want you out straight away (unlikley)

I could list many many things, but here’s just one

walk down any main street in any town and there will be a bakers shop that has in the window little fruit tarts for about €1 that are glazed, often have a layer of custard underneath and (whipes druel away from mouth just at the thought) are bloody lovely.

    sorry here’s another

    34 hour working week

    and another

the respect they have for family life and children

    and another

I notice the 2011 bg pro have a bumper strip across the toe to protect them, did u find the material on the older versions (like I’ve just bought) scuffed easily under the front of the toe?

    Papa_Lazarou

I bought a pair of mavic tempo size 10 (actually 44 an 3/4), felt fine at home, but on the bike they were just a tad too big. so flogged them and got a pair of white spsh bg pro from JE James for £110. The latter are super bling and I have to say look in a different league in terms of quality to the mavic.

my half drive/half ride commute includes 18 miles of the Trans Pennine Trail and Bridge Water Canal. Ace

I just wonder how many of those people sat on the M62 between manchester and liverpool are aware of the TPT running virtually parallel through great countryside. IMHO sustrans need there arse kicking. It’s virtually impossible to find any useful information without buying a number of crap maps from them.

yep thats the original one, but he’s just switched me to something else (mrs is picking it up today so don’t know what it is, something like zantac)

I was feeling farly weak before I started taking it.
