I don’t understand why heroin scores so high

On an individual level – highly addictive and very hard to get off, even with medical intervention.

On a sociatal level – addicts are generally a bit of a mess and use crime to fund their increasing habits.

how on earth do you find time to watch this dross?

Not sure about this – my concern is that if certain drugs are brought within the law and more widely available, many people (especially the young) may perceive that they are in some way normal or acceptable, as per fags and booze.

emanuel – where did you get your saddle recovered? I have one on my road bike that needs doing?

One more to add to the list – Z1 Bombers bought in 1999, still working perfectly on the Mrs’ bike despite being serviced no more than 4 times.

Endura 3/4 thermal bibs – just binned mine after around 10 years of regular use, a fine bit of kit.

As above, bottom end shimano spd pedals. Work perfectly and last several years. It’s often the same price to buy cleats and pedals as cleats on their own, so I have a pile of them now.

Specialized Nimbus tyres – bought in a pair from wiggle as a deal with tubes about 8 years ago and still going well on my hack bike.

Mine is OK, but on T-Mobile and you can roam to orange for free, so better network coverage.

Not sure if Vodaphone have a similar deal with other networks, but if so, may sure you have all the call and data roaming options ticked in settings.

As you are you and not them, I would give your own interests priority.

I would get an idea if things are likley to change and unless what they say gives you great confidence, go to the other job.

Not read all of this but having had two children, my advice is as follows:

Keep riding, but don’t go too far from home and make sure you can hear your mobile.

Birth of each child was by far the best two moments of my life, the joy of it almost brings me to tears when ever I think about it and believe me when I say, it is really something that you do not want to miss – both from your own point of view and being there to support your other half.

Hurry up, the hard-working captain and lady captain may just have beaten you to the last seat!

ideal outcome, but seats still available. 😐

I had the misfortune to attend a Burns night at the local golf club.

More Daily Mail readers per m2 that anywhere on earth.

I just wish I’d had a rusty old banger to park sideways across the Captain and Lady Captain’s parking spaces.

Why chase money. At what point do you stop and think ‘I’ll die one day, better to enjoy life’?

    amen to that.

Only on singletrack world do people complain about getting paid to travel the world

I’m guessing you don’t do business travel? Think of a normal day at work, but with 8 hours of travelling at either end and sleeping there. I thankfully don’t do it very often, but there are lots of people who have no life and hardly see thier family due to vast amounts of time sat on planes, in airports or on their own in a hotel room.

I took some rubbish to the tip just after xmas, which gave me much greater satisfaction than just about anything I’ve ever done in my tedious paper shuffling office job.

It’s not a deal breaker, we have the contract. I’ve met them before out there, so they know who I am. We (the firm) are expected to pay for it, but didn’t include it in either the contract or budget on the fixed price job.

I understand the comments about trust and face to face etc, but that aspect in tiny in this case. Not somewhere I would want to spend any more time than req and the Mrs is stuck at home looking after young 2 kids on her own.

Make the invaluable personnel in HR spend some unpaid time away from home/family and then see how restrictive they are with travel spend and claiming expenses.

If you can provide evidence that you paid for the items (receipts or bank statements) I imagine that would stand up in court and as said above, the boarding card does not show the price.

I would ask them to be reasonable about it and say you’ll meet their exact requirements next time. If this doesn’t work, threaten them with leagal action and rufuse any further business travel until they pay up.

It may not be the case for you, but for many, the fact they drive to an office just to use a PC and phone every day is bonkers, especially considering the environmental, cost, time and safety implication of a commute by car.

An increasing number of people I know work from home for a good portion of the time and only go into an office for the odd meeting or to see clients.

when strapped for time I think u have to balance hassle V reward.

I try not to drive miles for a short ride.

I no longer night ride because I don’t like getting home at 10.30pm covered in crap when i have to get up at 6am the next day. It’s good but not worth the hassle V a run or spin session.

I think there is a tendency to think you can post anything without getting into real trouble, yet quite a few people got done for inciting violence after seemingly encouraging others to riot in the summer.

It would be interesting to see if posting things about doing certain serious criminal activities on a forum sets off any alarms at any organisations who may or may not be monitoring said interwebrigsitry. I would encourage others not to try this though, both for reasons of being banned and banged up.

I’m forced to wear a tie for work. Gives the company a backwards and old fashioned image IMHO.

I got bollocked on the first day for not wearing one (had smart shirt, jacket, trousers on) so asked if there was going to be a wedding that day.

In terms of bike riding ability and with a total novice at one end of the scale and top pro riders at the other end, I imagine the curve would be a normal distribution with most of us in a band a few % either side of the top of the curve.

    So yes – average.

If you need it just for a short time and will pay it back, just do the transfer to yourself and then pay it back in ASAP, don’t show it on your accounts. There is only a very slight chance of being investigated by the rev and they are hardly going to kick off about £2k for a few weeks, esp if they can see has been paid straight back in.

As for Leisure Lakes, I use Evans Cycles shop or mail order only in an absolute emergency, even if they are significantly cheaper.

Useless and just not worth the agro.

I went to the one in the lakes for a long weekend and utterly hated it.

Plus points: Good pool, car free environment, lots of birds and rabbits all over the place.

Bad points: Trapped in a holiday camp. Expensive and poor quality food. Biking is rubbish, I took mine and the only tracks are between ‘attractions’. Activities are average and expensive.

It seems to me like a very expensive and commercialised way to have an packaged ‘outdoor’ weekend for people who don’t really know how to have an ‘outdoor’ weekend. The best part of our stay was a picnic on the shores of Ullswater on the way home. My advice is to just book a cottage/log cabin somewhere with some mates and have some control over the situation.

I cannot possibly want to eat it drink anything more, nor spend any more time sat in the house attempting to be jolly. We’ve had 1 day without visitors since Xmas eve. The current ones leave 3 hours before I go back to work. Ffs

What the letter from Santa failed to divulge was that stripey monkey had been away so long because he’d got himself into a spot of bother in Thailand.

Hope the parents gave it a good wash before giving it back to little Johnny.

I have this fantasy every year of a perfect family Xmas interspersed with great rides. The reality is , we have to have two christmases because our families live on opposite sides of the country, then new year. So it’s a full ten days of it. After 3 days I go a bit jack nicholson in the shining. The Mrs also has a thing about me falling asleep during day.

Had a great Xmas day, really lovely, but enough now thank u.
