    someone’s in trouble today

He’ll have woke up thinking…what happened last night and everyone will go quiet when he goes into the room.

Some bad calls by Wayne Pomario and co in these olympics. Former appears to be trying to make a name for himself.

There seemed to be bias against VP in the sprint final. Mears appeared to be in the wrong in both races. No way the first race should have been given to Mears….at very most it should have be rerun.

Also, relgation of Chinese women from gold to silver the other day looked like a very big call to make when there was no clear evidence of an infringement.

A worn set of Pace RC35’s would be my choice.

If used in conjunction with hope Ti skewers, you could hold the bike over the head of a random chav and wait until the front wheel drops out onto them.

I understand a few of the brake manufacturers are going this way.

Can you get hold of replacement selas for shimano.

Just back to the OP – are the brakes leaking fluid around the piston? If not, I had a problem with the brakes sticking and not retracting. The bike shop stripped them and lubed the seals with red grease, 2 years later they are still working fine.

I think they can make you take it. Getting paid in lieu of holidays is at the employers discretion, as I understand it.

If there is no written contract, I would be happy they are even letting you do this and enjoy the paid time off.

Glentress – awesome, something for everyone. Even blue is good.

Kirroughtree – Very very flowing and enjoyable to ride.

Ae – Lots of variety of terrain in a single lap of the red.

There are more issues about TEAM selection than merely speed. Things like attitude and team spirit definitely come into play as well.

    ^^^ this

However, I can understand why she’s gutted and not taking it well. All the sacrifice and hard work, then not even getting the chance to compete must be incredibly frustrating.

All over twitter she’s off to bigger things along the lines of working with Fox News/Mitt Romney campaign.

    Only time will tell.

I gain an immense sense of well being from polishing shoes, but then I do ‘work’ (ie: shuffle paper all day) in an open plan engineering office, so anything feels worthwhile compared to that.

    get a little hexamine stove

cheap as chips and so not the end of the world if it gets stolen. Just make sure it’s well ventilated (ie: use it outside) so you don’t gas yourself and/or stink the tent out.

I think it’s different when you have young kids, as in many cases, time spent cycling is more time she’s looking after them. Space in the house taken up by bikes and biking kit also can become problematic.

My arguement is I fit it in around the family, riding after the kids are in bed and I get 3 day weekends, so can justify and afternnon out riding. I don’t go to the pub/drink/smoke/gamble/spend money on gadgets or cars so a few hours a week keeping myself fit isn’t too much to ask. I also make sure she has time off to do her thing.

where do you think Capt Scott kept his compass to stop in freezing en route to the pole?

    Thanks

The main axle/pivot tightens with an allen key, so tweaked this up a bit and it’s made no difference. So is it still worth doing what you suggest there scruff?

It doesn’t take much to interfere with a compass, as a min the stem bolts will be steel in most cases.

In addition to improving driver attitudes, I’d much rather ride on..

dedicated cycle paths, physically separate from the road.

I aways wear a helmet and think others should do too.

    Trail centre are good.

    I like gears.

    go birch yourselves.

Usual helmet law induced reduction in particpation would prob be balanced out by numbers motivated to cycle by Sir Wiggins’ success.

Just find the garments in your bedroom that are least crushed and covered in food.

scrape food off, wipe with baby wipe.

Spray with something that smells nice.

If absoultely required, iron. If you have no time, just put clothes on and smooth using a downwards motion of a flat hand.

I’m contract, so negotiated 4 day/ 34-ish hour working week. Get paid less, but just spend less. I’d rather have the time off than buy things we don’t need.

Are you able to work from home, even for 1 day a week as that would give you min 2 hours to play with.

What’s the situation regarding amateur and professional status of the competitors? As I understand it (and this may be bollocks), Olympic boxers have to be amateur but other sports (cycling, football, tennis) clearly have pros competing.

All you’ve done is introduce him and others to a great sport, something you should continue to do.

Kids sitting around doing nothing is far more dangerous.

    Sad news for all involved.

We bought our house off plan. We had to pay several hundred pounds for a valuation of an unbuilt house.

They valued it at exactly the same price as the builder was selling it for, so they must be really good at their job and worth every penny we paid them. FFS.

Weeride is great. I love it and the people I’ve recommended it to love it. Child can see where it’s going instead of looking up your ass.

You do have to ride with knees apart a bit, so I swapped to flats and that worked just fine. Both my kids can’t get enough of going out on it.
