I’ve made the considerable impact very clear to the cops in my statement and every communication – loss of earnings when I self employed, family holidays missed etc etc

The response from the police was something along the lines of the Crown being the injured party in RTAs. It’s not been finalised yet, but all the cops keep talking about is how effective driver awareness courses are. In contrast, I got fined £100 and 3 points for doing 33pmh in the car.

The solicitors are dealing with the civil case, but said they can’t advise on dealing with the police.

iPad – won’t play most video clips I want to watch and objects to connecting to anything that isn’t apple.

SRAM RED Black front mech – too thin/flexy to function correctly. Replaced with a Force.

On One headset – fell to pieces in a time so short I ended up having to replace the forks due to extent of steerer damage.

Entry to the mountain mayhem event – drive hundreds of miles and pay quite a bit for the worst mountain biking I have ever experienced.

I used find Top Gear quite entertaining in a daft, not giving a **** kind of way, but IMHO it now just looks juvenile, dated and sad.

    Playing British Bulldog at scouts.

I was the last one and as a result of my attempt to get through, I have (27 years later) no radial head and 4 inch scar in my left elbow.

    I wouldn’t sign it….what can they do?

You have already (I assume) met all the requirements of your existing contract in terms of confidentiality and notice of leave, so can’t see how they could force this on you now. AND, it may force their hand and ask you to go on gardening leave until your notice period ends.

BTW – I’m not a lawyer, but have (limited) experience of arranging new contracts.

M&S no longer include for bikes over £2k as standard, even on existing policies.

Our renewal went up anyway and then with bikes on top we were looking at another £160 on last year.

Time to spend 3 hours on the phone shopping around. :|

All I can assume is, with the number of new people taking up the sport in recent years, they are all drawn in by the adverts and low prices.

How else are they in business?

Make sure you remove them correctly and watch out for symptoms of Lyme disease, which can seriously **** you up.

Insect repelant can help keep them off in the first place.

Actually I’d say that being introduced to drinking as a normal everyday activity is probably better.

Actually, I would say NOT teaching kids that alcohol consumption is a normal everyday activity is probably better. Just becuase it’s legal does not mean to say it’s right to normalise consumption of serriously harmful and addictive drugs, no matter how they are positioned our culture.

Whenever I visit Wales I always think it punches below its weight in terms of tourism potential. The beaches and mountains are amazing. On a summer’s day, the Lake District will be rammed and yet you can (thankfully) drive around parts of Wales and it’s virtually empty.

My family eats Quorn quite often, not to be confused with the Korn tribuite band, which we don’t eat or listen too.

I’m over 40 now (all own teeth) so need to warm my knees up before tackling the national hill climb championship course on a SS with a Maxxis Minion supertacky on the front.

Would come but I’m pciking the in-laws up from the airport.

Starting with a ride up the rake is brutal.

Suggest a spin along the road and up from the Hare & Hounds, or go the other way along the railway line to Irwell Vale and up Robin Hoods well.

    Suggestion for bigger ride.

Rammy – Irwell Vale – Fishermans – Owd Betws – Top Turbine – Through Cragg to Lee – Batter it down the red right to the bottom – back along valley down singletrack behind factory to Rawtenstall – Irwell vale – then either back along road or Robinhoods well and Buckden Woods.

Latter is prob 3-ish hours. I can get out tuesday nights from week after next if u fancy a return.

Endura were off CRC for a while, is that still the case?

Merlin and Wiggle get used before CRC for me. The latter often seem to only have stock of the size/colour you don’t want.

I bought A Love Supreme by John Coltrane years ago but found it horrible to listen to.

I decided to give it another go in the car on the way to work this week and it is sublime.

    That and The Reynolds Girls.

I know that for me, arson, manufacture of explosives/improvised weapon systems and covert woodland shelters were all part of a perfectly normal and healthy childhood.

I’m still quite impressed by the range achievable from the very simple Dutch Arrow. The Mrs still enjoys a good Ducth oven in the cold winter months.

Don’t expect too much from HR, who are there to protect the firm, not you.

    So either:

    A. leave

    or

    B. Quietly whisper into their ear that if they speak to you like that again you’ll [insert extremely disturbing action] to them until it stops.

I drive down the east side of the M60, which is much better than the trafford centre side. You need to be getting to stockport not much after 7.15 or you’ll be sat there.

Ilkley to stockport every day?? Thats a big chunk of spare time and cash on fuel gone every week.

Many people have taken up cycling in the past few years and DH advertises heavily in the mags. So I can only assume these poor people are unaware of what/whom they are dealing with when they press the button on what appears to be a good deal.

brake pads, discs and shock absorbers.

It’s £20 because they want to get you in there to be fleeced on the above. Same goes for “free safety checks”.

I would say it’s actually borderline fraud.

    people were taking the piss

A place I’ve done work for takes this approach with everything. 1 person out of 500 pushed something too far and they introduce a rule for everyone. This has happened over and over again until it has become the most controlling place you could possibly imagine. A code to use the phone, a code for the printer, claiming expenses is so difficult that most people just book an extra few hours to cover the cost rather than try and battle the system.

As an employer, my default position would be to treat people like professional humans and deal with the ones who don’t act that way individually.

Although it won’t work for every role (doctors/teachers etc), office monkey jobs that could be flexible should be flexible. Most are. If they try and force fixed hours on you (despite obvious problems with car parking, no staff being there outside core hours, etc etc) I personally would display an equal level of inflexibility until I found a better job.

Finish line wet lube in the winter.

Squirt in the summer. I’ve been very impressed with this stuff. Quite resistant to wet weather for a wax lube and the transmission stays nice and clean.

+1 for both solar powered and radio controlled. Tough watches that tell perfect time and are unlikley to ever need the battery changing.

I’ve had a gw-002E for 4-ish years and been very pleased with it.

‘junk’ food is quite addictive. The more choccy I have out of the vending machine at work, the more I want it. Being tired and not riding makes me want it more as well.
