1983, 12 years old. Hit a boulder in long grass, over the bars of my BMX. Land on collar bone and crack…

    Not so special so far?

Walked home and told my mum, who had at least 25 years as a nurse by then. She proceeded to take my t-shirt off by the normal arms up over your head method, instead of cutting the t-shirt off…

    That nipped a bit.

If its not physically on the property then a separate warrant for the vehicle will be required.

I haven’t read the whole thread, so if I’ve misunderstood forgive me. But if a vehicle is on the curtlidge of a property in Scotland, then it can be searched under a warrant give to search that property. It becomes dodgy if the vehicle is half on the pavement, half on the property, etc…

I went to my local college for evening classes. 12 weeks on a Tuesday evening – it was great. I bought a used Clarke Mig 130 (I think) for £50, sold it 7 years later for £200!

I got an account with BOC via a VW forum for a hugely discounted price on Y-bottles (again, I think).

Its a real skill if you want to be a Pro but you can leant to Mig to an acceptable standard in a few hours.

    FN2 type R was a K20, i think?

a few friends had them, very nice as i remember.

My old DC2 had the B18C6 (UK version) but i still preferred the Mini.

Im more interested in handling and fun, than speed.

    Jeez! Im getting old! :)

just by the farm and do what you wish. Don’t tell anyone what you’re up to though.

As long as you get a new Range Rover every year and moan about those bloody interfering Euro types, no one will be able to tell the difference!

this thread has really got my juices flowing!

lots of great suggestions but Im not sure where to go now. So I’ll ask a question…

Im after a car, definitely sub 5k price, just for me, just for fun.

I’ve had a few nice cars, nothing pricey, but fun. I honestly think that my favorite was my 1972 Mini, with a 1275 A-series and 10 inch wheels. It wasn’t fast but it was a go cart for street use.

I would like to get a more modern version of that Mini. Obviously another Mini is the answer but they are totally over priced now and to be honest, I cant be bothered with the constant rust repairs. I’ve spent enough time chopping, cutting, welding, seam sealing, etc to go back there.

So, from this thread Im thinking Mini R53 or MX5 – but which one is closest to my old, 50 mph round every corner, go-cart, 1972 Mini?

Im happy to spanner my self, but i cant take constant maintenance.

    Help me Obi-STW, you’re my only hope…

I’m 52 and have one older brother. 10 years older than me. We’ve never been close. I see him maybe twice a year even though he lives about 10 mins away. We chat maybe once every two months for 5 mins. I little interest in him and he feels the same.

Our mutual friends don’t understand it. He’s your brother crap is constant.

When he was 25 I was 15. We don’t have anything in common.

Do I wish it was different? Yes. I’d love to have a close relationship with him. But that’s just not going to happen. From both sides.

I have a 19 year old daughter, only child. My Mrs had complications during childbirth and it was suggested having more could be risky. We never gave it a second thought and took what we had been blessed with.

Being an only child can be an issue. But as parents you can easily take care of them.

Love what you have. It’ll be repaid in buckets!

There used to be a local band called “the Gaels”. They were wel known for their exploits. I have personally seen the polis arriving and arresting various band members on Saturday afternoon sessions!

They played this regularly. But one time they called a 16 year old boy away from his pint to sing this. Utterly stunning! The pub was a **** riot!

I got a knock back email yesterday for a promotion with my current employer. Bog standard, auto-generated type of thing. Second “feedback” email basically said I’m **** incompetent! I’m actually wondering if the feedback was intended for me! 🤣🤣

So I’m trying to say that a phone call seems over the top to me. Too personal! At least for an international mega-bank…

One of the best memories of my daughter growing up was on a bike. She’s now 19 but around the age of 10 we were cycling along a path, side by side. She said “Dad! High 5” and held up her hand. The absolute joy on her face as we rode along is making it dusty in here right now!

    Kids on bikes. No. 1!

Och see you MCTD! I just cancelled 16 hours of pre booked tattoo time this morning! Something more urgent has come up and the money is going to go to that. I last got a tat in 1995, on my calf. It wasn’t too painful as I remember, Paul, aged 51 and 11/12’s.

Based on a survey of me…

I had my first ever Flu jab at the end of Nov ’22 and this is the worst year i have had for catching the lurgy. Seems like every few weeks i have caught another strain…

Doubt its anything to do with the jab but just saying :)

I got an agv k5-s from infinity motorcycles in Glasgow. My first new lid in 25 years. I tried on just about every lid in my price range and size. It was by miles the best fit. I guess I’m trying to say go and try lots on!!!

    Re: iq tests…

A number of years ago I had a wee experiment to myself. I found two, supposedly mensa approved iq test on different websites. The first one, I gave it my best shot. The second, I didn’t read the questions or answers just selected random boxes.

    Test 1= iq of 131
    Test 2= iq of 105

I’m not smart enough to draw a conclusion from those results 🤣

In 2002, I worked for an opto-elctronic start up. 50 PhDs out of around 150 staff. Two PhDs in my team of seven. Some very smart people (I got thrown off my degree🤣). But some of them struggled to put their shoes on!

A life long friend is a head teacher, member of mensa with an iq of 148. I don’t think he’s that clever, but…he has an absolutely incredible memory. Not saying it’s photographic, but he can recall in detail things from school, etc.

So my point here is, is he actually smart or because of his recall, he can remember stuff?
