Use Aliexpress – with no probs. Slow delivery as expected though. Good for batteries, light, torches & associated brackets. Often get latest spec lights before they appear on Ebay uk.
Two sizes of plugs, chinese one usually thinner than hope ones…
Multi led lights tend to be poor.
Search XHP70 or XHP70.2 for top spec latest single LED lights. Be aware that some oriental suppliers tell fibs about specs – we’ve all had millions amp batteries that obviously aren’t.
I ran the mk1 transmitter for 18 months. Thought it ran 3.00 & 2.8 tyres. My first modern geo bike & first new bike for decades…. Rode well & safe & stable handing was fantastic after 15 year old bikes. Then I swapped frame for a Cotic Solaris max steel frame and the difference in ride quality is marked. Smoother everywhere – go steel!!
Phone clamp type mounts are about a fiver on ebay. I use my old Android motorola moto E 2nd gen phone, solely as GPS routemap & record now it’s been replaced with a cheap Sony. 2 hours riding & 20% battery used. Plot routes on line & transfer to phone. Great Britain Topo Maps is great for route following & finding new tracks. Wet weather (proper wet…) screen performance is pants though. The moto E was £80 new 3 years ago & probably have little value now.
gpsies fan here too. 191 routes so far! Appears to still be working so far…
plotaroute looks good – but you have to pay if you want more than 5 private routes.
gp.mapometer free-ish, but you pay for better maps, was free.
I use gpsies.com to create routes. Great Britain Topo Maps (android app) to view on ride. Small fee for topo maps full function possibly. Topo can cache maps for off line use.
I’m running the 11-50 11 sp one for 2.5 years over two bikes. still going great at 2,500 miles. Several new chains over that time & worn out a front oval alloy too.
I’ve had similar issues. If I remove chain mech works as it should. I thought it was mech pivots sticking too, but not sure… However my kit is 2000 miles plus old & the front sprox/chainring “thin teeth” are very thin! So new sprox & chain, plus overpriced sram jockey wheels (also thin/breaking up) on order. Note it’s NX kit & has had several chains in that time.
Running a 2.6″ Bontrager XR5 up front & a 2.8 Rocket Ron on the rear. Was using Nobby Nics 2.8 but found those a bit draggy. Had RR on front for summer but whilst quick it was sometimes slippy in the dry leading to the “fast dab”. All above on a hardtail.
Went from Sonder transmitter (alloy)to Cotic Solaris max (Steel). Both 2.8/3.0 tyres & hope wheels, same forks. Solaris so much smoother, less harsh and…….Fast!
Second winter with an R8+ here, faultless & wide light beam. However long lead will reduce burn time. I’m using their 2 cell battery to power an economy helmet light. Also use the 2cell with R8 for that last dark half hour on early summer rides… Runs on medium setting for 30 – 40 mins & weighs lots less!
Returned to MTB 4 years ago & discovered Endomondo….then Strava. So now run both. There’s an update app/web page that swaps data. Endo better for multi activities. so 2018-
MTB 1065 miles, shop/pub cycle 376m, I am a roadie for 125m and walkies 127 miles.
Having ongoing hassle with Together Energy over refunding excess charges. They only respond if you leave justifiable bad reviews. So looking to move. Octopus code most welcome!
Follow GPX file route on Great Britain Topo Maps android app, on Andoid phone. Strap to bars & go. Gives full mapping etc. Prior to this I scanned OS maps or took images from OS mapping on streetmap.co.uk and loaded oo phone – use to check the new bits of a route.
A tip… have two ebay accounts (different emails address etc) . Only use one. Get “come back & spend offers” on the dormant a/c. Had £10 last week & Fiver off this week!
Bar end light mount – drivers eye height , sort of. … on/off easy and can see if working! made from m/c bar end and dismantled cheapy Chinese bar end mirror.
I use gpsies.com to create routes. Great Britain Topo Maps (android app) to view on ride. Small fee for topo maps full function possibly. Also used Mapometer but that now charges & it’s best function was to move start/finish really easy and display elevation better. It still does this but the free map is duff. Strava/endomondo to record & pinkbike/trailforks for track spotting!
I used a youth/childs smaller bottle/cage when I had this issue on a previous bike. Still use it on my spacious Solaris Max now…..as well as a runners hip flask bum bag for longer rides. search: Elite Corsetta Youth Bottle
kd48, yes mines a small & I’m about 5′ 7″. I checked the dimension charts comparing my Sonder Transmitter to the Solaris Max and the small was closest. Shoving saddle forward gives the fairly upright stance this old git likes! 3 rides so far & I’m smitten.
Alex, fork is 140mm Yari – modded with latest air spring & neopos volume spacer. My Sonder Transmitter was the donor bike for this build & that had some red! Well chuffed after the first ride at Holmbury/Surrey Hills last Weds. Somehow the bike seems to soak up rough terrain and be calm, poised etc and so carries the momentum better. Same forks/tyres/wheels as before so it must be the steel frame magic. My last strava track resulted in 22 secs taken off a 3 minute time,….that fast feeling confirmed!
