Just wondering if anyone has successfully gone down the IHT205/ IHT217 route as suggested above by oldtennisshoes?

Having done all the IHT400 and all it’s necessary schedules, the very useful chap on the Probate helpline suggested I just do the IHT205 and 217, along with the PA1P. This way, the threshold is increased to £650k (both parents now deceased). And all 3 forms get posted off to Harlow, along with the will etc, not separately like would happen with the IHT400 method.

Having filled out the 3 forms yesterday, although it took a good few hours and a bit of number crunching, I can’t work out how the co-op quoted me £7.5k for doing it?

It’s a bit off the beaten track, but the Stasi museum is worth a visit. It’s the old headquarters of the East German secret police, who did a runner after demonstrators took over the building  in 1990. A lot of it is as they left it, with exhibitions of their crude and simplistic methods of spying on friends and colleagues.

If you’re near the TV tower and fancy a good burger (good veggie ones too), try Momotaro Tavern. Small restaurant with a limited menu but all good.

I’ve got one, and the best I can say is it’s ok. It makes decent coffee, but the problem I’ve got with it is it’s just a bit strange to drink out of. And won’t fit in car cup holders. Bit of a faff to clean. But no more than the aeropress. Saying that, with the aeropress you’re left with a dry puck. With the Oomph, you’ve got grinds slurry to dispose of. Mine now lives in the cupboard. And if I’m making coffee out of the house, I use the aeropress.

Think I’ve got one in the garage somewhere. It’s not the whole portafilter though, it’s just a pressure gauge. You have to unscrew the spout on the bottom of your portafilter and replace it with the gauge. Might need a bit of PTFE tape. Bit of a bodge, but it works. If you don’t get any better offers, let me know if you’re interested.

Is it just my imagination, or is there a reflection in the window of someone taking the picture wearing a hard helmet?

I’ve got the same one as footflaps. It’s very easy to use, takes an SD card and 4 or 8 AA batteries (depending on how long you plan to leave it). I got it as our Jack Russell was telling us there was something under the floor. Turned out he was right….

Dead easy to use. Only records when it detects something in it’s field of view. Recording time can be adjusted from a few seconds to several minutes once it is triggered. It does have a small screen built in, which clips can be viewed on, but it’s best to put the SD into a computer to review the footage. It’s probably about 6″x4″, and waterproof (I think!). It’s great, unlike the trap, which the rat happily chewed on for a while before getting bored and walking off. In the next clip, the trap had been triggered, but no sign of ratty.

Please don’t go with talktalk. My mother in law, who suffers with dementia , was approached in the street by one of their salespeople. They persuaded her into moving both her broadband and home phone line to them. Fast forward 18+ months later, and despite having cancelled all her contracts with them months ago and settling outstanding balances, and her now living in a dementia home, we are still receiving letters from debt collection agencies. For a communications company, they are very difficult to communicate with.
They are about as understanding as a concrete block. The phone advisor kept asking for the password on the account, despite being told numerous times that she has dementia and she doesn’t even know if it’s day or night anymore. If it ain’t on their script, they ask again. Repeat. Bang head against wall. Now taking the matter up with the ombudsman.

Have a look at Crankhouse Coffee. It’s an independent roaster in Devon. Great range of coffee, and free postage over £30 I think. And there’s a cycling link there too! Currently enjoying the CH8 which is an espresso blend. Dave the owner does special promotions every so often (e.g. when the tour is on).

I too have a pair lurking in the garage somewhere, XTR ones, if anyone wants them. ST-M966. Complete with calipers.

I’ve just ordered an Oomph. It’s like an Aeropress but doubles up as a travel cup too. Another kickstarter project I believe. Hopefully it won’t just end up in the kitchen drawer.

And I can highly recommend Crankhouse Coffee for beans/ grinds. It’s a small independent roaster in Exeter. And there’s a cycling connection there. They’re doing a TdF promotion at the moment. The CH7 is my new favourite for espresso.

The scene where Faisal blows himself and a sheep up in Four Lions was shot just down the road from me in Sheffield. I was cycling home from work the day they filmed it, and was stopped by the police for safety reasons til they’d done the explosion.

Apologies if this has been posted before, but it’s an interesting read. There’s a couple of experiments you can try yourself, just to make yourself feel even more vulnerable as a cyclist. Further down the article it suggests cyclists should use flashing lights to be seen, to avoid the ‘sorry mate- I didn’t see you’ scenario.

My lad’s iPod touch once went through a full 40 degree wash cycle in the washing machine. The spin did the case in a bit, but after being left for a few days in a bag of rice, it came back to life. Worth a try!

We’ve got an EcoAir DD122 that we use for laundry drying. £170 from Amazon. Swinging louvres, laundry settings, ioniser and a silver filter too, whatever that does. Works well, quiet-ish, and glows blue when running.

    Have a look on trainsplit.com

It sometimes throws up much cheaper tickets by splitting your journey, it works out the most efficient ticket breaks. Think it takes a cut of the savings made. I’ve never actually booked through it, so cannot say how successful it is!

But if you do get chance, try and break your journey at Corrour. There’s a fantastic restaurant on the station, but maybe check it’s opening times first. And then you can recreate the ‘It’s sh1te being Scottish’ scene from Trainspotting! As not only is it the highest UK mainland station, it’s where that scene was shot.

I’ve got an Iberital MC2. Takes a while to set up, as far as timer and grind fineness goes, but once set up it’s very consistent, and grinds fine enough for a Gaggia Classic. Only problem is if you want to grind any other beans for a cafetiere etc, it’s not really an option, as what you’ve just spent hours setting up will all be out of the window.

Cheers for the replies. But without sounding too negative, Paisley Freight get some pretty bad reviews on here and elsewhere. Senditnow have a max parcel length of 1.5m (my box is 1.9m) otherwise it goes as a large parcel for £38. Still, that’s better than I originally thought I suppose. And for DPD I think I’d need a business account with them. And they don’t seem to like giving phone numbers out for their local depots, or even a nationwide ‘contact us’ number for that matter.

To be honest, I find the run flats on my newer car a lot more forgiving than the RFs on my previous car. They were terrible, and I made the change to non RFs. Think there’s a new generation of Run Flats available now that don’t seem to knock your fillings out or tramline as much on the motorway. When I put the non RFs on my last car, I was told to go for extra load to compensate for the softer sidewalls, to prevent wallowing. Supposedly the car is set up for the stiffer RFs.
Hopefully sent you an email fingers.

I’m currently tidying out my garage and have a BMW 17″ space saver wheel in a DHB wheel bag and BMW scissor jack that I might sell if anyone is interested. I bought it for my previous car.
As far as I know, you don’t get wheel wells in BMW’s with run flats, and it’s surprising how much space a ‘space saver’ takes up if you’ve got to keep it in your boot. Well, it did in a 1 series anyhow.

All you’d need to extend the existing cable, if you don’t fancy climbing ladders etc to replace the whole cable, is an F type barrel and a couple of F type connectors. The F type connectors just screw over the sat cable once you’ve stripped some of the insulation off. You’ll find em at Amazon or eBay. Only a couple of quid. Then join with the barrel. No special tools required.

I’ve been with Hodgson and Oldfield for the last few years for my small Ltd company. Sarah has looked after my accounts, and I’ve never had any problems. They’re in Paradise Square, but to be honest it doesn’t really matter where they are based as I only see them once a year. Reasonable charges, and very knowledgable when it comes to running a small ltd company.

Think all the stations in Sheffield now use a central switchboard. Have you tried 0114 2202020?

    Good luck!

We use “Bach Rescue Remedy for pets” on our anxious rescue dog. It’s the same as the human version but without the alcohol. We use it to calm her nerves around strangers. Not sure it would be up to calm travel sickness, but might be worth a go. We just put a couple of drops onto a biscuit to get it in her.

Don’t think you need the bulbs anymore.

But speed camera detection kit is not allowed. And this includes sat navs with speed camera location POIs. Tomtom have got round this by calling them danger areas or something similar. It not doesn’t give an accurate location for each camera, it just warns when you are in the vicinity.

Just to throw fuel on the fire, I think Sony are soon to release the Xperia ZL. From what I can tell, it’s going to be a bit smaller than the Z, but with a better battery life.
As for networks, I found 3 coverage terrible, as was their customer “service”. I moved to Orange. Much better coverage and decent customer service.

We went up to Warkworth in Northumberland at half term, and booked thru Coquet Cottages. Dogs stay for free (or at least they did in the cottage we stayed in). 5 minutes drive to the local beach. Cottage much better standard than the norm. And about 5 pubs in the village, as well as a castle. Kids and dogs were very happy.

I can’t help you with any info on shipping companies, but I do have a bike flight case for sale if you’re after one. (I’m also in Sheffield if you are interested and want to take a look).

Try putting your creme eggs in the freezer for a few hours. It’s a taste sensation! And you don’t get icky fingers eating em.

I might be wrong, but can you not put in your post code somewhere in the settings? This then tells the box which region to use.
Or if you scroll down the “all channels” to the 900’s, you should find all the regional stations. Then just swap ITV London for ITV West.

We rehomed an ex racing greyhound about five years ago. We got her when she was 2, as she retired early as she was supposedly lame. The normal retirement age is 5 apparently.
She’s been great, and relatively low maintenance. She still loves to run- it’s quite something to watch her gallop around the field. She can be a bit of a wimp, and seems to have a low pain threshold- ie stands on a thorn and you’d think she’d lost a leg. And, although she could if she tried, she doesn’t do styles. And a greyhound is quite an awkward shape to carry over a style. (You said you were in a rural location).
But she is a very loyal pet. When not on a walk, she can be found either in her bed, on our bed, on one of the kids’ beds, or on the sofa asleep. Useless as a guard dog, and I don’t think she’d win any prizes on “Britain’s Pets Got Talent”. But good dogs all the same.
