Yep, there is lots there for all ages.
However, we did the same as the OP is going to do (i.e. took a 5 year old and a 3 yr old), and the problem we found was that the younger one got upset because they couldn’t go on all the rides the older one was going on, and understandably got frustrated queuing for things they weren’t allowed on.
We ended up splitting up and doing totally separate things for most of the day to keep them both happy.

Yep the splash area is good so take trunks and a towel.

Your younger one will be too short for most of the rides.

I bought those Charge ones recently for use on my commuter.
Very happy with them, they feel stiff and strong and the hubs spin nicely.
My only complaint is they are not light, but at that price you can’t have it all!

Judging from this spectator video that has cropped up Kerr did go the wrong side of a pole and also inadvertently ended up moving the tape:

Looked like he was running tubeless to me, didn’t see an innertube pop out

    Yeah can’t see one:

I too thought Gwin’s run was mental and couldn’t believe the wheel survived to the bottom.

    Question:
I thought a lot of the DH riders were running tubeless these days? Yet lots of people out with punctures in the last few races. I know tubeless can lose some air sometimes but it’s very hard to lose all of it isn’t it, so can’t the Gwin situation be avoided by going tubeless?

Satnav is not even remotely comparable to the Knowledge.

In my experience this is not true at all.
I use both black cabs and Addison Lee minicabs (who use satnav) frequently.
Never had a problem with a satnav guided driver, but have had black cabbies get a bit lost and take me an odd/longer route a few times.

it basically removes the need for cab drivers to do the knowledge which makes it easier to be a cab driver, which means more people can drive cabs, which will bring down prices to the consumer..

    So everyone wins then!
(apart from the very small percentage of the population who are already black cab drivers)

I really don’t believe Sat Nav is in any way comparable to the knowledge

It might not be as good (yet), but it is definitely comparable.

this is a very good case study for technology taking away the need for a human

    I don’t think so – every car/cab still needs a driver (for now…)

My head is of similar proportions and I’ve always found Giro to be good for my head type. Tried a few other makes and none have worked as well for me.

    Yep, it’s totally ridiculous.
I bet no-one has even requested it, they are just saying that to protect themselves in the event of some sort of paedo-geddon happening at the school.

I have done a 50 min commute through london for many years. Started off on an MTB with slicks on, then moved to a trendy singlespeed, then a road bike, and I’m now on a Genesis Croix De Fer with flat bars and relatively wide tyres. It’s by far the best tool for the job and I don’t see myself changing bike style again.

Boris bikes weigh too much to be viable for such a long commute.

One subscription can be used on 2 computers max I think (I have it on 2).
Hate to tell you this but the half price upgrade subscription for CS4 users ended last week…

You know what the actual diameter difference between 26″ and 650b is?
    No it’s not 1.5 inches…
    It’s actually only 25mm. That’s less than 5% bigger.
You really think anyone can notice that?? (hint: no, they can’t).

I have seen that in Australia they sell XXXL G-Form knee pads so may just bite the bullet and order some and hope they fit!

They aren’t that big. I am an XXL in G-form and a large in all other brands.

I ordered a load of stuff on wednesday last week at 9am, and only got a dispatch email on saturday morning.
That’s the slowest I’ve ever had from them so I guess they must be backed-up with orders right now.

Thanks guys but both those have apparently already been used.
Seems odd as you only posted them an hour ago and it’s the middle of the night… hmm

If they can get planning it will be incredible

Would they need planning consent just to build trails?

Doesn’t look like that are planning to build any new buildings there.

If they are hoping to open in the autumn then they must already have any permissions they need I would have thought.

In that case I would definitely spray if I were you.
Worth hiring a decent quality airless sprayer (or buying one which you can sell on afterwards).

Sounds like he needs a real BMX then 🙂

I think you need to decide which wheel size you want to go for and take it from there. Personally I would say 20 inch is probably too big.

I think I would just look at all the 18 inch BMX bikes on the market and go for the lightest one (although finding out accurate weights for them might be difficult).

My son is coming up to 6 and quite tall and I think his 16″ wheel BMX will be too small for him in a years time…

    packer

Is it for use on a proper racetrack or just general mucking around?
If the latter I’d say 18 inch wheels would be right.
The problem with these kids BMXs is they are always steel and so heavy. The alternatives from the MTB companies (e.g. specialized, ridgeback) are usually aluminium and actually much better suited to young kids. But they look more like mountain bikes than BMXs so your son probably won’t be impressed!

Airless ones produce a far better result than cheap air based ones, but of course are more expensive (£200+). In my experience they give great results, much better than a roller.
The only problem with them is that you have to be very thorough with masking as they do go everywhere. Usually masking takes about 10 times as long as the spraying!
If you have more than one room to do and the rooms are empty I’d say it’s worth it, but if it’s a smaller job or the rooms are full of stuff then probably not worth it.

Deore is below XT and XTR

Sounds a lot better when you forget SLX, ZEE, and Saint though doesn’t it!

I think that when listening on the train one of the most important things is noise isolation. Over-ear designs can’t compete with in-ear in this regard, so I’d say try to find an in-ear that works for you or get custom moulded if you can afford it.

    packer

It also describes Deore as “sitting below the flagship XT and XTR groupsets”, which is more misleading than confusing.

I thought I read somewhere that the narrow wide idea was an old one? Previously used by motorbikes many years ago I think. If so surely not patentable by SRAM.

Interesting video… Wow he has spent A LOT of money on machinery. He must have a fairly serious investor on board. Gonna need to shift a heck of a lot of product over the next few years to make that pay off…

no-one expected the crash in 2007/8

Not sure about Bristol but in London the 2008 “crash” consisted of prices dropping by up to 15% at most, then two years later completely recovered and heading up ever since (source).

Not much of a crash, and as long as you weren’t planning to move for two years you were laughing even if you bought at the height of the peak before the crash.

My opinion is that if you are looking to buy in a desirable area then it is always better to buy sooner rather than later.

G-form if you can afford them or find a good deal on them (currently some good prices on ebay).

I think they are missing a trick by not updating and improving the Alfine.

Me too. Alfine 11 was a real disappointment to me.

not just flats on the axle

What’s wrong with this? Much neater than a torgue arm and I never heard of anyone having a problem with it.
