How much free disk space do you have?

The fact of the matter is that the roads in London just aren’t big enough to support all the traffic, and that situation is made worse when the traffic is of all different kinds. Not much that can be done about that though so accidents will continue to happen.

The red light thing is a red herring. There’s nothing dangerous about running a red light if there’s nothing coming, and the only reason drivers get so annoyed about it is that they can’t do it themselves.

Cycle commuters are single-handedly saving the planet and as such can do no wrong. All other traffic should get off the roads. Them’s the facts.

ipad will need laptop access to get music on it and to back it up and even update it to start with

iPad does not need a computer to back it up or update it since iOS 5 was released.

Also music can be purchased directly from the iTunes store without the need for a computer.
Of course if you want to rip CDs to put on it then you will need a computer.

Can’t imagine why anyone would say he’s a cock, I’ve met him a few times and he’s a nice guy.

My first Dslr was a Nikon D40 and I would recommend it very highly. Haven’t checked but they must be close to that price second hand by now.

Di2 battery only needs charging every 600 to 1500 miles, depending on how much you change gear. The charging itself takes an hour.

As someone else said, you’d have to ignore the low battery warning for quite a while before getting caught out with a flat battery became a possibility.

Basically it’s the future and in 10 years time most of use will have it on our bikes, whether we “need” it or not.

    Interesting thread.
My mortgage payment is 39% of my take-home pay.
Seems like a lot but it’s cheaper than when I was renting!
Supporting a family of 4 on one income is not easy in London…

I can’t be doing with all these loaded hippies building eco houses

I think they were far from loaded. In fact I think they were pretty poor. The whole build cost them around £80k and they saved up the money themselves.

By the time it’s finished all their children will have left home and there will be just two of them living in the worlds biggest 5 bedroom house!
I really liked it though, would like to see it finished too.

No don’t think so. Just put it on ebay and it will find it’s own best price.

Another thing to consider: if you are going to take seat/head angle measurements and give them to a framebuilder to replicate, he will also need to know the exact axle-to-crown measurement of the forks you had on when the measurement was taken. Without that the angles won’t mean much.

An important question is do you measure them with suspension sagged or not…

Easiest way is with a digital angle gauge. There are iPhone apps which do it, and I’m sure other phones have similar apps too.
Otherwise it’s very difficult to do accurately.

I don’t think the Stanton will be “more compliant/lighter” than your 456.

Test ride the Duster skinny, sounds like exactly what you are after.

Curtis is kinda where the idea started for me, been a brand I’d like to try for some time, although I don’t know if they do Fillet Brazed work or just welded

    Curtis only do fillet brazed.

…and next weeks looks nuts. “The interior is the size of 7 normal 3 bedroom houses”… why the hell would anyone need a house that big??!

    one of the best yet

Agreeed. I thought it was great.

especially after last weeks utter disappointment of a house

Strange – I thought last weeks was one of the best ones I have ever seen on grand designs. I guess it’s a case of “each to their own”.

Thanks jameso. You working anywhere of interest to the STW readers these days then?

@jameso – did you have anything to do with the design of this frame?
If there are no patent issues with either FSR or APB type systems in europe then how come the Genesis has ended up with neither?

Don’t degrease the chain. Just wipe off any excess grease and then lube it with some normal chain lube.

On the one hand it’s all completely amazing…
On the other hand the whole tricks thing has now gone completely up it’s own arse. Whatever happened to style? It’s all just frantically flapping around in the air now like a dying bird and we have to have a slo-mo replay just to work out what the hell went on.

I have lock ons and they are great. Thinking of going back to old style grips though to save weight…

I also don’t really like the vids. My main gripe is they’re no good of you’re viewing on your phone.

Thanks for the comments Chipps – looking forward to the write-ups.

I read on another forum that someone who was there said the conditions for Troys run were actually not that different, and in fact conditions may have even been better later on as more water on the track would have made it less greasy.

No! How on earth did they end up as the title sponsor?? Lots of ‘discussion’ going on on the Dirt website about this right now…
