Thanks all. I went for the G2 RSC. I decided I could always up the rotor size if I ended up wanting more power.

Thanks for the replies. Seems like the forum is split on this one! I’m still undecided… lol

I’m also interested to hear any feedback on these posts if anyone has used one…

If you buy direct from China via Ali express they can be had for under £60 including the lever and postage!
At that price I’m happy without a warranty to be honest.
Also I’ve found that if you opt for the slower surface mail options from China you never get stung for customs – I have done it a lot with 100% success rate.

It was these ones for the cranks, in the smaller size.
As you can see from the pics I had to trim them down quite a bit to fit the Sram dub cranks.

Is the bung just held in place by friction?

Yes. It’s a really tight fit though, and the pump is really light so there’s very little force trying to move the bung.
As I said I rode it hard at Bikepark Wales for a day and it didn’t move a mm, so I am confident it won’t move.
Don’t think there’s any risk of the pump jamming the front wheel, even if it did fall out.

My main complaint with strapping things onto my frame is that they get caked in mud and require regular cleaning.
They also aren’t particularly aesthetically pleasing :)

I take your point though – it’s only a marginal improvement really. But an improvement none the less.

I’ve been at it with the rubber kayak bungs again… this time with a smaller size bung which can fit in the axle.

I’ve butchered a tyre repair tool and combined it with the bung to make a quick-access tubeless repair tool.
    Works really well for this!

I tried the Aircraft, not the Trajecta. It was too small but not by the same margin a lot are, and all heads are different. So worth a shout I’d say, even though they only offer two sizes, S/M and L/XL, which normally rings alarm bells.

It does say this on the 100% website, but all the online shops that have it in stock seem to have 4 sizes available (S/M/L/XL), and the XL is listed as 61-64cm which sounds promising…

Any of you big-head-long-back-to-front guys tried the 100% Trajecta?

Thanks very much, was not aware of that FB page.

Yeah, pretty sure it will be too big then unfortunately.

It’ll be perfect for the new Boost standard headtube that will be along in the next year or so then

    It’s only a matter of time! :D

Kimbers – when you get it would you mind measuring the exact diameter of the pump for me?

I have been storing the narrower version of this pump in my steerer tube (see thread here), and I’m wondering if this new HV version would also fit… Thanks!

Lots of questions about the pump, so I just went and tested it out…

I let down my tyre completely, which is a Specialized 29 x 2.3 (not the biggest 2.3 out there, but pretty chunky).
It took me 2mins 20secs to pump it back up to the pressure I would want to ride it at.
I was pumping fast but it wasn’t hard work at all as there’s very little resistance on a pump this small.

My conclusion is that it’s totally useable as an emergency pump on the rare occasions I need it (which is thankfully very rare these days since going tubeless). I’m actually pleasantly surprised by its performance.

If I was doing a race I’d simply swap it for a CO2 inflator for the day I think.

    Sounds like a good idea!

Daft question are kayak bungs all the same size? Or did you order a specific size?

Yeah there are a few sizes, I ordered 38mm which seems to be the most common size.

The pump is almost the same diameter as the inside of the tube, there’s probably 1mm gap all round at most, and the elastic band takes this up perfectly so it fits quite snugly with no movement or rattling.

The pump has to be pretty tiny – I’ve not seen any other models that will fit.

Wow – thanks for the offer! Much appreciated.
I’m actually sorted now though – I found the bearing kit half price so I bought it, seems a good idea to have them in stock for the future anyway.
    Thanks for the replies all.

Thanks for the reply. I tried contacting them via the contact form on the website, and got a reply from ridercare-uk@specialized.com , but they just gave me the part number for the bearing kit and told me it was part of the kit (which costs £80).

Do you have an alternative contact email there I could try?

Ok, I think you’ve sold it to me :)

In terms of trail “difficulty” the event people always seem to use as a measuring stick is Ard Rock, and I find that event to be pretty much spot on for me.

Great stuff – thanks for the feedback so far.

What are the stages like in terms of difficulty / technical-ness ? The highlights video did look a bit tame…

I used to get a puncture on average about once a week on my commute – drove me mad!

I then tried putting 30ml of Stans in each tube, and I’ve not had a flat since! Its been at least 6 months now.

    Basically, it works.

Is an ebike going to result in less back pain then?

I doubt it… but I still say get one if you fancy one!

Anyone bought one of those ZTTO dropper levers off eBay?

Surprised no-one has ripped into me for owning a bike I only ride a few times a year :)

To those who mentioned Specialized tyres weeping – are you talking about the “2bliss” versions? This is what I’ve got on there.

    Easier/simpler – yes.
    Cheaper – no.

    Damn. Thanks anyway.

Why? Because I’m putting together a cheap bike for the Mrs and I’ve been offered some free wheels, but they won’t fit the groupset I already have it seems.

Seems like I got some pretty poor advice from the builder then!

Have decided to go dual-fuel, and also up the size of the unit I had in mind.

Yup. Mk3s are what I have on the Pickenflick.

Those are not Mk3 from the photos. They’re the old graphics.

What is the best sort of setup if you want to combine a solar thermal rooftop system with your household hot water system?
I’m about to replace my boiler and I’m wondering if I should be looking at this option…

Thanks all – some great info here.

I will actually be getting on a couple of stops south of Cambridge, so getting on the slower train that does more stops at around 7:45am. Hopefully this will be significantly quieter than the fast train from Cambridge…

Oh dear! Sounds like EE or 3 are the best of a bad bunch then…

By the way, how’s the reliability of the train service itself in general? Is it OK or am I going to hate my new life??
