Cruachan power station, Harry Potter train from ft William, sealife centre.
Best thing to do in Oban on a wet day is a visit to a travel agent and book next years holiday somewhere sunny, probably cheaper than a UK holiday.

Good point on nose weight, checked hand book 100kg for trailers and it lists bike racks at 74kg 300mm from center of ball, vw Tiguan with factory tow bar, so would be well within limits

Anyone tried one of these or seen in flesh?

    http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/cycle_carriers/buyCycleCarrier.php?partNo=ZX504#

Retail price is expensive but various retailers are much cheaper, close to atera price point and its a proper 4 bike rack rather than a 3 + adaptor, folds vertical when parked
    Thoughts?

Arthroscopy carried out Tuesday 9am walking, using bannister, up and down stairs by 2pm. leg now straightening properly, hamstring and behind knee slightly tight, light stretches working and slight nippiness at wound points prob more down to dressings pulling hairs out when bending leg, only roadies shave their legs, right?

Not using any pain relief and actually in less pain than Tuesday 8am.

I’m waiting on the sucker punch coming but doing the post op exercise program with elevation and ice every 2/4hrs seems to working, actually thought about a short turbo/cross trainer session this afternoon but told myself to get a grip there’s plenty of time for that.

Hope this is of benefit to anyone worrying about their own knee issues/future surgery.

    Thanks for input.
Saw physio who had feel, pull, twist etc and as knee not fully straightening he recommended seeing consultant who had a feel, pull, twist etc and pointed out muscle wastage in injured leg, sent me for MRI scan. It’s now back confirming large tear in cartilage that requires keyhole surgery to tidy up. Saying 2weeks off work(mechanic), I didn’t even ask about bike etc. provisional booked for Tuesday, very apprehensive/cacking it a bit but know it needs done soon as family holiday in July is coming fast.
    Ahhhh bollock$

Agree with the Polaris recommendation from go outdoors above teamed up with Polaris bibs underneath. Humvees are a wee bit neat when you get up to 40ish waist.

YHA on bolsover st, en suite family room with 2 bunks. 10 mins walk from Euston station and 5mins walk from various tube. Bar/pizzeria in reception and various restaurants on surrounding streets. We’ve used it a number of times and found it to be brilliant for London breaks. Well priced for location leaving more cash for attractions

Stupid question time. What’s the difference between a slack line kit and ratchet straps? Assuming both will need slings, mallions etc

From kip Marina to lunderstone bay it’s well graded fine ash, can be bypassed by following a78 to roundabout after Inverkip and turning left on to cloch road. from lunderston bay you are on pavement marked with cycle lanes/road through gourock and on to Greenock. Nice views over to cowal, holy loch, roseneath, Helensburgh. A nice alternative would be a long climb from Inverkip to loch thom/Cornaless and drop into Greenock from there. Both route should be ok on a road bike.

The n/s cv boot is one of the easiest ones to do. Remove wheel, remove big bolt through center of hub/bearing, remove small plastic trim(held in with t20 torx) around driveshaft where it goes through chassis leg, remove 6 bolts attaching shaft to gearbox drive flange. Shaft will now release from gearbox allowing you to lift inner end above gearbox gaining space to remove outer joint from hub, remove complete shaft from car, clamp shaft in vise and replace boot. Rebuild in reverse. Drivers side is a pain in the butt due to multi link suspension.

Simplest/cleanest option is to book it in where ever the trader will pay to do the work to bring the car up to mot standard.

Our kids raised money last year with a sponsored cycle, they wanted to do something different this year so last weekend they did a sponsored ski at Snow Factor in glasgow, story at the link below. As others have said hope we never have to use the services that are supported but thankful if we do they are there.

Interesting to note that propane has and is used in cars, do you know which manufacturers?
The odp and gwp of the new gas was the driving force behind it, not exact figures but it was something like
    1234yf – 5
    R134a – 1000
    R12 – 10000
Propane would be a very low cost product.

There has been talk of hfo1234yf replacing r134a which replaced r12 but cost and availability of 1234yf has put that on hold for the foreseeable future.
There have been reports of some unscrupulous operators using propane/butane in mobile ac systems if this is recovered by the ac station it causes pretty expensive contamination to the station, there are tester avail that sample the gas before recovery.
Imagine the fire risk in a frontal collision if propane was used as the refrigerant.

Our boy loves the Barry Loser series and the David walliams books, we got the walliams ones with the CDs and paperbacks, mixing up reading and listening as we go.
    Horrible histories are great.
Saving Harry Potter for when the same age as Harry is when the books start and work from there

Was the filer replaced at the service?
They have been know to leak if the seal is not replaced or lid not refitted correctly.
Had seen a couple that leaked onto the ribbed belt causing it to fail and wrap itself around the crankshaft pulley and into timing covers causing the timing belt to fail.
Don’t mess about get it sorted ASAP!!!

My main issue is with bibs and baggies the baggies tend to slip down (poss due to my body shape) but if the specialized ones in the link were clip in type like hummves etc that could solve the issue. If the bibs were clip in and avail on their own that would be a big bonus for weekends etc.
Going shopping tomorrow to see if anyone local has them in stock.

Just so you can rule one out, bed 5,10ish bikes on towbar, longer than a couple of weeks you would need an awning of sorts.

Vw dealers will change most bulbs for free if you buy the bulb from them
    Or
Go to halfords buy the bulb pay them to fit it.

There are a fair few cars failing mot tests for headlamp beam patterns being incorrect these days due to incorrectly fitted bulbs, I know where I’d take a vw polo.

I’m failing to see how you trying to carry out a job incorrectly and stripping threads is a duff vw design.
Take the outer spring pan bolt out, remove spring, flex pan down and you will have straight access to the bolt, start the bottom bolt first make sure it looks to be straight and you might just catch an original thread.

You have to be good/lucky to get it right with the spring in place. Wishing you good luck.

Over the years we have found various things in customers boots while checking spare tyres etc
    Complete embalming kit
Bee keeping equipment, hood/smoke pump etc
Gay porn mags, customer was a family man.
    24 inch double ender
Boot full to top with empty red bull cans, it was a golf the guy had taken out luggage shelf and just threw the empty cans over his shoulder when finished

It is amazing the amount of general junk people carry in their boot year round

On that eng you won’t need glow plugs to start it at this time of year, may crank a little longer than normal but it will go. Get the memory checked with a diag machine, probably won’t have stored any codes, if you do the diag check when it’s in the non start condition you will prob not be able to communicate with the eng ecu due to no voltage supply to the ecu. Look at your fuse/relay plate there will be a relay with 109 printed on it(its the voltage supply relay for the eng ecu) the soldered joints inside this fail. 2 options here replace relay or resolder, wouldn’t recommend the 3rd option of bridging the larger 2 terminals unless you know what you are doing.

Tow bars are all pretty similar as they all have to fix to the car at the same point but electrics are a minefield. We use //www.rightconnections.co.uk/
Most are plug and play some need coding up at dealer/specialist but the looms and instruction are top notch and not a scotchloc in sight

Used “glasses corp” for my crosslinks, half the price of vision express using better lenses, 4 days for delivery no problems. Actually thinking of a second pair as they are really comfortable and don’t float/rattle about on my face.

Does anyone know the relationship between accidents at single carriageway section/junctions(eg Newtonmore/dalwhinnie) and those caused by excessive speed. Dual carriageway is the only solution, I don’t think ave speed cameras are any more helpfull than reduced speeds(40/50) and speed cameras at the traditional black spots. More single/dual signs in multi languages would help
