I used to race in the PKA series (class 8) so can tell you that they are more than capable of these speed…. :D
“Used to” being the right way of describing it after a big off at high speed and a suspected broken neck later.!

The Flexi bullet 3.5 was the kite of choice for beginners to learn to static fly then learn to buggy.

When learning to static fly properly get used to using the brake lines to turn rather than the traditional stuntkite way of pulling one line more than the other. as it makes the move to buggying easier.

Once the bug bites you may find yourself spending loads of money on race kit and ending up on a start line looking like this!

A flexifoil buggy is a good place to start, a 3.5metre Flexi bullet was the entry level buggy kite when i used to be involved in parakarting.

I would look into lessons, as flying a powerkite and using one to buggy are 2 different things.

Beware it can get very expensive if the bug bites!!

I raced on the PKA series both at home and abroad until a nasty accident stopped me (bad neck damage :( )
I started with a flexi buggy and ended up with a £1000 chameleon custom kite buggy and 12 PKD race kites.

I have been lucky enough to see 2 shuttle and 1 rocket launches at Kennedy and Canaveral on some of our visits to the space centre.

Its hard to describe the feelings of watching something go off to space in front of your eyes.!

Am gutted they scrapped the manned space program for the near future.

If there is no secure bike rack, i would be taking my bike round the store with me….

I Think the management would take notice if all the local cyclists started doing that.

I have had 2 Galaxy’s (same as s max’s) for the last 4 years and initially found them rubbish in the snow, but after dropping the tyre pressure slightly and getting rid of none essential spares (i work in the service industry and need many spare to keep equipment running) the car became quite different and alot more managable.

My work have provided me with snow socks and chains now :D

The verdict is still out on the Vw Sharan that has replaced the Galaxy’s though

I ordered blinds from the website (Hilary’s owned webblinds) on the Sunday before Xmas (measured by myself) , the delivery date was 23rd Dec.

I was a little sceptical as the custom made sizes were less than pre made blinds at Argos/B&Q etc.

On the 23rd of Dec a courier arrived with the blinds.
I fitted them, they were a perfect size and fit so Mrs pacemaker was very happy!! :D

No problems with them at all and will be using again for the other 3 windows we need when the rooms are decorated.

    Molgrips,
I have tried both, it sometimes will release itself, others it just will not and you have to press to release.
I now press to put on and press to take off.
~The auto hold seems to work when it wants, i have tried leaving it on all the time, but it then brings you to a grinding halt whilst in crawling traffic, so now i only use this when hill starting.

I took delivery of a new shape VW Sharan on 3rd September, its now got 12k on it and after 2 Ford Galaxy’s (07 & 09) all i can say is i want to go back to the Ford!!!

The Sharan is falling apart, i has been in twice for airbag sensor failures, the auto handbrake is a law to itself.
And to top it all off the chrome trim around the rear window came loose yesterday whilst driving , so when my daughter slid the rear door back to get out it scraped a huge line on the paint inside the door.

~After having old shape VW touran’s & sharan(which were a nightmare with faults) previous to the Galaxy’s i am surprised the company went back to VW.

I would personally look elsewhere as i think VW had there day 10 year ago and now are way down the list of quality well built cars.

you would need 8 AA batteries for the transmitter and a 7.2 pack for the car and a charger but you can get cheaper entry level stuff

    basic battery

    basic overnight charger

these will do the same job, but the battery wont last as long, and is a slow charger over a fast one.

The other car worth a look is this it comes with everything but isnt quite as good, but is still a good deal.
my freind has the 4wd version of it and its well built and decent quality for the price

OP i would buy this if i were you, its £99 but it a proper rc car, not a toy.

The Mad Rat is used as an entry level racing buggy quite a bit.

    rp16.

The lunchbox is as standard at the moment, he is very experienced with the controls as he flies co-ax rc helicopters (and has been flying for a couple of years).

I did wonder about putting brushless in the LB but it just lumbers about. (i always remembered mine was a bit a bus 25 year ago!).

It is ideal for him though as it takes loads of abuse and keeps coming back for more.

Dont waste your time with nitro, its noisy, messy and just generally a pain in the arse.

Brushless electric is the way forward, its almost silent, as fast if not faster than nitro and is charge and go.

I have a few different cars, a HPI savage 4.6 (nitro) Traxxas Stampede VXL (Brushless) , hyper 7 (nitro buggy) and a Associated B4 buggy.

I have just finished building this for my 7 year old, this was his first time out with it.

I did enjoy building it and going back to my youth, my stepfather owned the modelshop in Cromer, Norfolk so i spent most of my time in the shop building and fixing for people.

Flying (Heli’s and fixed wing) is my main hobby.

Seem strange we never had problems with the vw’s we had previously to the Fords, which carry the same field tech’s kit (although these VW’s gear boxes were problematic!)

Have just got new model VW Sharan to replace Galaxy so we will see how this goes.

Had major issues with my 2007 & 2009 Galaxy’s warping disks, mostly due to the weight they had to carry on a daily basis causing the brakes to overheat.
Apparently the weight of comercial espresso machines and all the spares, water filters and tools put them under quite a strain.

The dealers did replace the first set under warranty, but it became a regular occurance on our fleet of 50+ Galaxy’s and s max’s.

Just reached 4k in 4 weeks on my new VW Sharan, I have just driven it normally, ie shifting when the economy display shows you to.

I wouldnt rag it silly, but have never had a problem with getting upto 3krpm on any of my company cars
