Other things:
The fancy elevator is worth going to see.
We took the Tram 28. It was quite nice. Be careful on it though it is notorious for pick pockets.
Eat lots of custard tarts!
pablojmFree MemberTell the truth.
I have recruited for high paying IT and finance roles for a good few years.
It’s very hard to get the best people. They already have a good job and when they want to move they usually don’t have to go to the market. Contacts will just get them a new Job.
Therefore often the way I can hire the best is finding people who are moving jobs due to some other reason. E.g moving country, moving with spouse, returning from a career break etc. So if I see that you’ve been looking after kids for the last few years I would definitely not throw the CV in the bin, I’ll judge you on the rest of the CV.
pablojmFree Memberhttp://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-professional-track-pump/ This is a thing of beauty, had it for a few years and it is great
I’ve a Joe Blow too – can’t go wrong with that either.
pablojmFree Member> By my dodgy maths, if interest rates hit 0 within 11 months you’re doing better out of the variable.
How did you work out that? Current Bank of England base rate is 0.25%, if this drops to 0.0% the variable rate will drop to 1.74% which is still higher than the fixed deal.
The only scenarios where the the variable deal is better:
– negative interest rates – very unlikely.
– If after two years the available rates are much higher than base rate + 1.74% for the remaining one year of the comparison. This is also unlikely and is offset by the money saved in the first two years. Also worth saying that an increase in interest rates is much more likely than a decrease. Of course no one knows for sure. But looking at the markets it is equivalent to saying the odds on favourite (rates rising) is much more likely to win than the outsider (rates falling).
But all that said – use a comparison site to see if there is even better deals out there.
pablojmFree MemberInterest rates can only really go up form their current value (negative rates are very unlikely). So of these two offers 1.64 fixed seems better.
pablojmFree MemberFirst of all my sympathies. Never nice to be sick even worse when it’s unexplained.
I unfortunately have had lots of experience with CFS. Here is what I think:
Don’t do anything based on random googling, what people on here say etc. unless there is real peer reviewed evidence for it. Think of any health fad you’ve ever heard of and google it (Detox, gut microbiome, exclusion diets, supplements, therapy, lightning process etc.). You’ll find someone who claims it cured them of CFS and others who will happily take your money. I’m not saying that they are lying but there is no evidence for any of these treatments. No one person knows what made them better. It could have simply been the passage of time and they are claiming it was the goji berries they eat.
You need every other cause ruled out (physical and mental) before it can be confirmed as CFS. This will take months/years. hopefully you won’t be sick that long!
So having said that here’s my advice:
In the absence of a diagnosis, give yourself every chance of healing yourself. Eat sensibly, try to get outside a bit, rest loads and try remove any sources of stress. Plenty of documented evidence for all of these.
The hardest thing is to just do these simple things and not look for a miracle. But I’ve been in patient groups where people have spent 40 years following every faddy cure/diet and have certainly made themselves worse.
On the plus side many people get better especially ones who realise early that they are sick and don’t push themselves too hard.
So in short:
Rule out other causes, No fads without real evidence, eat sensibly, try to get outside a bit, rest loads and try remove any sources of stress. Boring but really important.
pablojmFree MemberI travel Ryanair a lot. In the last year or two they have become a lot more easy going with luggage. You could still meet someone that screws you over if you take the piss though.
They pretty much never weigh cabin baggage. You’ll usually get away with a rucksack as long as you can squash it into the measuring thing they have (some force maybe required!). Rucksacks tend to look big though with all the straps so a duffel type bag might be better.
Recently the second small bag thing seems to have become quite lax. So maybe pack the bag and have a spare carrier bag at the ready if you need to split it into two bags.
Ski boots won’t be allowed though. I’ve never had a problem just clipping a helmet onto the outside of the bag.
Good luck!
pablojmFree MemberThanks everyone on the thread – it inspired me to get on zwift.
Just did my first ride – really good fun and quite immersive. Anyone else find themselves leaning into the corners?
What’s a good race to start with? FTP is around 2.6
pablojmFree Memberhonor 7 – highly reccomended never getting a non dual sim phone again.
Same as others you select one for 4g, but both active for calls.
pablojmFree MemberI have a Joe Blow. Excellent pump and has lasted for ages. I recently got this – http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-professional-track-pump/ really impressive fro the price, great build quality, looks great, lovely to pump with.
pablojmFree MemberI have one. Very happy with it. It’s dual sim which I use – though might not matter to most people.
Battery is good, Camera is good.
One of the best phones I’ve had. Previously had LG/Samsung Android flagships.
pablojmFree MemberThey talk about “SportPursuit members’ encrypted passwords” I hope they mean hashed with a salt not encrypted…
pablojmFree MemberA friend who was a former professional photographer told me once that the standard way to sort this is to phone them asking to buy an advertisement that is the same size as the photo.
Whatever their answer is the price that you would then request and usually get – might be different for pro’s though.
pablojmFree MemberAnother vote for the outlands – had them for about a month now and I'm very happy with them
pablojmFree MemberI'm a member of thetrax – it's a young club but we are getting things together.
Importantly there's a good bunch of people all into biking. Come along! Details on the website.
pablojmFree Memberhmmm – multiple magnets in the inner tubes – passing by a coil on the frame/forks?
pablojmFree MemberI'm worse than average and loved it – rent/buy/borrow some body armour and a full face helmet and go for it!
