Ride Concepts have a few high top options, but word on the grapevine is the sole isn’t quite as grippy as 5.10 Stealth soles. Depends on what your after I guess.

Still waiting for some clothing bits from two months back. Been giving them a bit of benefit with current situation, and I have 6 months to claim though Paypal apparently.

Been running a 12spd XT mech with a 11 speed XTR shifter, KMC Chain and a Modded One Up/XT 10-50, 11 speed cassette since October.

Works well enough, There are one or two gears with a bit of hesitancy but nothing super awful.

Endura Humvee: The waist button popped off soon into ownership, thankful for the strap! Still in use durable and reasonable water resistance.

TLD Rukus: My fave, nice balance of stretchy-ness comfort and protection. Like wearing off the bike but the leg air vent zip one one side has got stuck.

Alpinestars Hyperlight: Lightest most airy shorts I have. Ideal for summer but can see them ripping easy in a decent crash. Already one or two small holes, but still in service.

Rukus is my favourite and worn the most. Others are worn when the weather is at the extremities. Will most like buy another pair of Rukus shorts when the time comes.

I made an order with them on the 6th. Finally arrived today. Everything seems to delayed right now though. I was too getting upset with the lack of communication, just got an email with the order number on the day of placing and nothing else. No picking, dispatch or tracking emails were sent.

Got an ebike with Code R’s on. Granted its a bit more weight, but coming from Formula/Shimano/Hope on my normal bikes, I’m finding them a bit poor, squishy and mushy things. Can pretty much get the levers to the bars. That said I’m going to give them a chance in the form of an RSC lever swap and bleed till I’ve reserved full judgement. Otherwise I’ll be going back to what I know, swapping out tomorrow!

Ordered the upgrade seal head from Bird for both my bikes. Cheers for the link. Ended up changing the travel and doing a lower service start of lock down on one already, at least I’m well versed!

I have a Backcountry Research Race Strap that goes under my seat. It holds a tube levers and co2 and clears on a full suss with dropper down at full compression, although this may not be the case with every bike design.

Chain link taped to seat rail. I’m slowly moving things from my back to the bike but still carry a pack for drinks, food and waterproof mainly, but am on the downsizing path to get (most of) them on the bike eventually. Although a few soft items on your back may be useful in a fall.

    Air gets somewhere it shouldn’t.

You can make it better but not totally fix it as I found out myself the other day. Mine was about 10mm sag at the top and it had also stopped fully dropping – squidgy last 10mm unless sitting on it.

Turn bike upside down with post extended

    Operate dropper (down)

    Turn bike right side up

    Extend post

This worked so well for me I did it a few times but don’t think it was effective as the first go. It now drops fully and it has 2-3mm drop which is acceptable enough.

Nice numbers. Not in the market for a new hardtail, but if I was this would be top of the list.

Also fast cornering vs fast in a straight line should be considered. Fast in the air? Fast over chunk? So many variables. That said, in the greater scheme there are more straight bits.

I will say I took my 1994 26″ hardtail out for its annual ride last week and was near 2mph up on my average speed compared to my FS, also Rockect Ron vs a DHR II may have had something to do with it. Going though a rock garden prompted the term “bone-shaking” to rattle around in my head. I did feel like I took a more conservative line choice in the rough but if you took the ride as a whole including boring bits I’m sure I was quicker.

It will still be getting tucked away in favour of the FS as I have more FUN on sections of trail I enjoy the most. I’ll take that over average speed anyday.

I went from triples to a 1×10 with 11-40t cassette and I could work with it when I had built up stamina, but any time off the bike for a few weeks and it was hard work building back up to what was needed. 11 speed 11-42t was a little better in this respect and now I’m rocking a dinner plate One Up 10-50t conversion which is a pretty darn flexible setup that I’m very happy with. 32T oval on the front, I do like spining up a decent cadence to maintain a climb. It does mean if I’m off the bike pushing up its more by choice and not because I tired myself out.

Like the site. Is it just numbers entered into field or is there some kind of formula behind it? I ask as it would be good to maybe allow +/- 20mm fork adjustment but with it linked so all the relevant numbers change when you adjust your fork height.

Can see it being a useful tool.

A Time Sert is a more stable repair than a Helicoil. I’d give one of those a try for a crank repair.

    Yes, Yes and Yes.

I use mine on longer rides and when I need the safety aspect of it. The rest of the time I get away with a lightweight 10l pack but do miss the extra support of the hip and chest straps on the FR.

Mazda B2500/B2000 don’t think there is a SUV version of them.

Was going to say L200, but then remembered there is an SUV model.

Something newer, maybe a Kia or Hyundai pickup?

    A Ute would be cool.

I fitted offset bushings a few weeks back. Measure my BB before and after and it was about 5-7mm lower, not noticed a massive difference.

You could just fit one bush as a halfway compromise, or things like shorter cranks, thinnner pedals and fatter tyres may help offset (boom-tish :-)) the difference.

As mentioned, anything Honda/Toyota unless you enjoy visiting your local workshop regularly which is more liley the case with those frenchies.

German cars can be reliable, but can also be unreliable with silly repair prices. This is more the case with newer ones which appear to be designed to barely make it to the end of the warranty period or HP agreement. Poor second buyers will get a rude awakening.

First picture seems the closest, maybe try offset bushings pressed in at a 90 degree angle to push it away from the frame?

Nice of you to post pictures to help others, My bike wont even fit a Corset or EVOL sleeve on the stock shock let alone an upgraded one.

My bike came with a LEV and I recentlty switched out to a Reverb. Partly due to upping the drop but also partly down the the creaky seat clamp on the LEV driving me crazy. I tried some 3M tape on the clamp faces which hepled but didn’t totally cure the issue. It also had the orignal cable connection interface that has now been revised. It did disconnect itself once in 18 months use.

I’ve been more happy with the Reverb overall. The contectamajig is handy, shortening the cable was easy and not having to bleed it for 3 disconnections has been useful thing. I run the original lever flipped upside down and find it ergnomical enough with a slightly long throw. That is the only real downside, the hydraulic activation has some sort of a slight time delay compared to cable. As mentioned you can get aftermarket levers systems to fix this.

Both posts themselves have been fine, always going up and down when needed (as long as a cable is connected!). I did look at the Fall Line too but as my bike takes a 34.9mm dia post I decided to stick to a brand that offered this size for more surface area and hopefully reliability.

No prob epicsteve, thought I’d offer before it rains :)

benp1, Yes I know my way around well enough to have a good time on mainly singletrack, so it should be an improvement on your last ride.

On the downside I had to book in some last min work down on the south coast on Friday so I’m at the mercy of the traffic as to when I get back.

Keep your fingers crossed and eyes on this thread.

New clutches do give the feel of a high point and will gradually wear and the point goes down. One of my cars has a hydraulic clutch with an adjustable rod that goes from the pedal to the master cylinder. If your flexible and mechanically inclined you can get some adjustment from it. You’d probably notice a difference from half a turn.

I’m tempted for Friday, need to check my lights are charged though. Still meeting at the tea hut?

epicsteve I have an old hardtail you could borrow if you wanted? Its a bit of a mish mash of parts, the shifter works in reverse and the tyres need pumping up, Not really had much use recently but it rides epping well enough from memory.

Got a Mds-JB940 too and a MD player in one of my cars still. I have hundreds of the things packed away. Been meaning to convert them to the PC but have only done one or too as its real time and will take forever. Think there was a slighty quicker way to do it with that net MD software but never had a compatible player.
