I own these and they’re excellent. Not as tiny as some other suggestions (and a bit over budget) but they’re in a different league. At just 6″ high they’re deffo portable. Like taking your hi fi on holiday. :)

An XT wheel set user here. 1.5k miles on my singlespeed mtb, zero maintenance. Still sweet-as. :)

Always had a Fox 150 on it. Not sure an extra 10mm will make much difference?

CBT or no CBT depends on WHEN you got your car license. Have a look on DVLA website. 2001 rings a bell, but i can’t be certain. I passed before the year in question so i can jump straight on a 50cc and/or drive a 125cc with L plates. No test or CBT required.

    Do it.

I did the same 6 months ago as my commute is 3 miles each way. I bought a NOS Yamaha Giggle/XF50 and i love it. 120mpg, free to park, great fun, etc, etc. Never ridden a scooter before. Don’t regret buying a 50cc at all. Remains to be seen how far into the winter i keep commuting on it as the car is also an option each morning. No brainer financially as it pays for itself vs the car.

When did you last see it?

What brakes said. Is the chain too tight? You mention tightening it “right up” but it should have quite a bit of slack, quite baggy.

Oh, and what size do you ride? I’m 6’2″ and their sizing machine tells me i’m best suited to a Large…

Thanks fellas. Any comment on the riding position? I struggle with bikes you sit ‘on top of’ and much prefer a bike that’s long n low & you ‘sit in’.

I’m 6’2″ and have a 125mm Lev. There’s at least 25mm of the post housing exposed above the seat collar so you’ll prob be fine with a 150.

My reservoir covers are chrome. Black clamp n that, chrome covers. I can deal with that.

My set of XTs arrived today. Exactly as expected. Black both ends – caliper and lever. Finned pads, spare olives n that for shortening, and the rear even came with the adaptor and the yellow spreader blocks. Worth noting they did come in CRC boxes. No Shimano packaging. Well chuffed for £115.

Those XTs are a killer deal. £115 for both ends, inc. £10 off for SURVEY10. I is in.

Change thread title to CRC XT PSA?

Race 4 results are up. No series results yet…

I was dreading yesterday as have been to UK Bike Park in the wet before and vowed not to do it again! I went as have done the whole series this year…and enjoyed it in the end. It was a bit short but i know it was a challenge for Carlos to make it happen at all. Making the transitions was tough again and i was pretty chuffed to make them after Aston Hill. Conditions were definitely ‘challenging’!

Nothing against AH. Would happily have traded half the climbing for some more of the DH there.

Always nice to be out on the bike for a day but can’t say i ‘enjoyed’ it. Don’t really understand the format change – riding stages untimed was a bit weird and can’t really pass off as practice/sighting as we’ve done more extreme stuff blind in other rounds. Uphill stage was unnecessary and stopping for an hour in the middle of the session grated. I’ve had a ball at other rounds so maybe this just wasn’t the one for me. My mate loved it (but he’s a bit of a climbing perv’). Got round fairly cleanly except first run of S3 when some tape was moved so i missed a turn, lost time and missed my R1 finish time.

Overall is was deffo the most physically demanding Enduro1 i’ve done by quite some margin. Shattered now.

Guess it can’t be any worse than UK Bikepark? Rode the chalky DH there in the wet a few months ago and (mostly) stayed upright! I’m suddenly a massive fan of chicken runs.

Thanks peop’s. Whetting my appetite. :)

Going via Versailles now so will then be heading south-east across France to Lake Geneva. Then likely across top of Alps and picking the right point to head south across Alps to the Lakes.

Geoforce route sounds fantastic but not an option getting there. Maybe an option getting back? Did you do it in one hit? We’re planning to do all the return journey in one.

Where was it whilst you were running? IIRC Garmin advise the display should be pointing skywards. I have noticed on my 200 that it seems less accurate when it slips round the bars and display is no longer facing the sky.

Interesting (i keep flatting my new cx bike). Cruisers or Razes? Cruiser twice the weight of the Razes…?

Excellent day. What a wicked event. All that despite crashing out with a bad sprain on S2 and still in pain now – still had a fantastic day. Looking forward to next year already. Thanks QECP Collective. :D :D

If there’s one thing i’ve learned as a lifelong eczema sufferer is that there is no single solution that works for all and you will likely have to work through a trial and error routine to identify the cause (if you find it at all). Best thing you can do is get in touch with the National Eczema Society. They are the authority on eczema management and it’s fairly likely they’ll be more helpful than your GP:

They welcome phone calls too, so you can get immediate support. Good luck.

I can vouch for CGG usual skill levels too. I’ve chased him round many trails, over all sorts and ordinarily he pins it. Whatever happened, thank god it didn’t turn out worse. Rest of the crew went on to ride Afan and Cwmcarn in the following days and i reckon most of us kept things wound in just a little more than we might have if it wasn’t for the day 1 misfortunes. Heal up quick fellas.

Took it back explaining (very politely and respectfully) i was expecting a replacement spoke same as rest of wheel and asked for their perspective. Bit of umming and ahhing and some acknowledgement they had some issues getting the part/s then said no spoke to replace like for like exists, so they had to use what Madison have supplied. Fair enough (if that is the case? wheel is only 18mths old?) but if i was providing the service i would have called to explain before carrying out the work. Ho-hum.

Bad luck bud. Did the same 3 years ago but fighting fit now, avec added titanium.

I was off work 6 weeks, but can’t remember how long i was off the bike. I do remember getting back to riding involved gradually increased (smooth) road rides before getting back to proper mtb.

I was on your side, until i saw your brown moccasin. Not any more.

Tempted to maintain my side of things but decided against simply fuelling the particularly vicious STW Massif today, however…i feel compelled to point out that is a slipper, not a moccasin. A very comfy slipper.

Wheel is only 18 months old. Bikes are kept generally clean…but scrubbing hubs with a toothbrush is unnecessary IMO. Close-up detail makes it look worse than it is and wheel was wiped down before repair.

Spoke was NOT in stock. They had to order one in so should have been a match. Spoke, true and labour was £20.
