Similar situ’ here, along with potential (slightly desperate) solution. Good luck with it.

I like the sound of the X Fusions. Could fill the hole left by the outbound Van’s. Has anyone here used them???

Thanks for the ideas. Rev’s look interesting but don’t have the ‘fit and forget’ attractiveness of the Van’s, i.e. too much fiddly adjustability.

Please keep the suggestions coming… :)

There’s an excellent full SDW route profile online somewhere. I’ll have a look…

    Not impressed.

Liner shorts?…only available in xxl or xxxl
    BB?…only available in electric blue

    Pah!

I’m 6’2″ and love my 2009 19″ P7 to bits. Fits like a glove and rides like you’re very much ‘in it’ not ‘on it’. Delete the 17″ option.

Try experimenting with saddle height. I did 35 miles at the weekend with my saddle an inch higher than normal and my knee hurt for a couple of days after.

Thanks again. Might all be academic though. After several emails (to check spec)with Leisure Lakes Bikes yesterday i ordered. 24hrs later they emailed to say the forks are unavailable!! For f…..!!!!

Deffo Pro IIs for that glorious noise…but it depends what frame you fit them to. Some reverberate louder than others IME.

Octane ones don’t look very “grippy” to me. Pins look short and no knurlibg or threads for traction.

SLX all the way. Installed SLX shifters approx 12 months ago, originally with a Deore cassette and more recently on an SLX cassette (Shimano chain) and they have never missed a shift.

Much hyped i know, but lives up to every bit of it.

Add me to the list. Shopped with CRC a couple of weeks ago and someone has just attempted a £799 spend at John Lewis (online). MBNA spotted it and it was never auth’d. No cost to me, just hassle of new card and having to set up online servicing afresh.

Glad i’d already spotted this thread or i might have got quite paniced when they called today.

Deffo looks like a good un. Really enjoyed the Portishead one a couple of years ago (Aphex shocker!), though the MBV one was somewhat underwhelming.

I second, or third, or whatever, the Van Damme suggestion. Cheap, capable and very well regarded by those that know, or have nothing better to do, or whatnot.

+1 for Lizard Skin Chargers. Love ’em…and they wear very well also.

I’m very interested to find out how a quality steel frame feels compared to an aluminium alloy one – the engineering sceptic in me doubts it’ll be as big an improvement as when I stuck some proper tyres on the Boardman but I’m hoping I’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Alex, You’re very welcome to to have a spin on my P7 when you’re up and about. I’ve recently added Flows on Pro 2s and i’m lovin’ it. The newer SC has hardly had a look in. Glad you’re keeping your mind occupied :-)

Careful with those pressures. Stans guidance says 35-40 psi max for Flows. I’ve already learned the hard way and had a WTB pop off the rim!

Sorry, i thought you meant the allen-headed bolt with broken thread you use to attach/remove. That was deffo from ukbikestore.

I bought spares online because i knackered thr heads on mine using fractionally too small allen keys. Just from memory i think it was ukbikestore. Have a look, come back if yiu have no joy and i’ll try and dig out a receipt.

I own a pair of these and still love the sound they produce 18 months later.

Sound quality is head and shoulders above the rat-a-tat-tat tinny norm. Dunno how big your garage is but they fill larger spaces pretty well considering each spesker is only a few inches high.

Had mine for 2 years and still love it. Recently bought a Santa Cruz Blur LT2 (4x list price of the p7) but you still can’t keep me off the P7.

STW, you’ve just won another subsriber, it’s in the post. Negates the one you’ve lost. Job done.
