    Did you get yours?

I have been called and emailed today to be told: “Our stock platform is over 98% accurate but sadly the Terrex Solo’s that you ordered are not present in our warehouse”. Order cancelled.

Never heard of Webtogs before this order. Hopefully not hear from them again!

    Done deal. Nice one DB!

    Thanks all.

(just for info – the fact it’s carbon isn’t really relevant. All greasing and gluing options only involve interface between BB and integrated metal cups set in frame. No carbon involved in execution of this fix!)

    Knog? Skully?

Use a Skully myself. V simple, cheap & bright.

does help when I add the link

Interesting…they talk about Loctiting the shells to the frame cups…but also suggest greasing everything…and i don’t think you can do both. Deffo reinforces the options I’d considered though.

Thanks Steve. I’ll ‘ave a look. Have you had a KCNC one in a Whippet?

Don’t bother with Innerleithen. It’s just a small high st.Not much else. I’d recommend looking at somewhere in Peebles.

I “asked On One” if the Hope headset would fit. They said yes. It didn’t.

oh…and seem very durable. One set is at least 18 months old, get ridden every week, and are only just starting to sort of delaminate at the outside edge near the collar.

    These are excellent:

I have them on all my bikes. The grippy bit is soft rubber and is wonderfully tactile. Not too thick or thin.

My incident was my fault really. Stem was recently fitted and i had not got round to the checking/re-tightening process you should do a ride or two after fitting. :?

Don’t worry about it. I have carbon bars and the faceplate worked loose this week (new stem). I could feel the bars twist a bit in the clamp long before anything more serious.

    Thanks chaps.

The Toren looks a bit ‘cosy’ for 2 mates sharing. Park looks nice but probably a bit too pricey.

Budget? I usually use the Park. Nice spot, well located too.

Budget = max £100 per night for twin room…or other accommodation, e.g. small apartment.

    My Whippet:

Bought a Whippet a few months ago. Built it up as SS with XT wheels and 100mm SID fork. I now have a 22lb beauty that I’m really chuffed with. I ride the trails, jumps, etc just like it’s a tougher, longer travel do it all bike and (so far) it’s been a dream. I’m 6’2″ and the 18″ fits me perfectly.

(Call me shallow but i couldn’t live with that goppy downtube on the 456!)

    ^^ Agree with them ^^

Same tyres, same rims, same forks, etc, etc.

Received the “Instinctive” soft-shell in the post yesterday – paid £15 delivered. First impressions are really good. Not ridden in it yet so can’t comment on performance but fit and fabric are killer for the price. Only drawbacks for me are: could be longer in the body (i’m 6’2″ and size is M) and it’s not especially light…but what do you expect for £15??

    Grado +1

…but the most important thing is to get out there and listen to the options.

Rich, can I have one of your spare blue pins in exchange for Haribo or suchlike? Must threadlock them!

Of course you can. Maybe see you this week if you’re out and about Wed-Fri?

“Do they come as standard with those bloody silly blue pins?”

Yes, but you can buy ‘spare’ black ones and swap them all out. Takes a while though. In hindsight i probably wouldn’t have bothered – the paint wears off the pins v quick anyhoo.

I moved from V12s also and i’m lovin’ the massive platform and ultra-gripiness.

    Do it.

A bought one a month or so ago and it came with vertical dropouts. I needed horizontal and it was easy to swap ’em.

Maybe the threadlock is causing a tight fit (you would expect this) and your allen key is fractionally too small. That could cause the knackering of bolts you’ve described?

Owned a 2009 P7 from new and LOVE IT as an everyday trail bike. I think EU safety standards forced a change to the design a bit after ’09 (heavier & stronger I believe?). Lovely supple steel and really composed. The other bike cost 4x as much and it always gets left behind for local rides. Mine’s a 19″ and a year or so ago i upgraded the forks to the 140mm Fox’s and i reckon the geometry must have been designed around that spec’.

Not quite. Spotted the big wooden arrow last minute and managed to slide it round with a dab of the rocks at waist height on my left (outside of corner = big drop). Felt great…but was probably actually a panicked mess!

A couple of weeks ago i enquired after an On One Whippet frame. They told me they were expecting “a large shipment of frames” late November but no idea whether this applied to whole range or not. It’s worth keeping an eye on the site as just 2 (in the size i wanted) since popped up and one of them is now in my living room.

Deffo go for older Lemonheads. Harder than the Ray stuff and a lot more rewarding. Agree ‘Lovey’ (their 4th album is excellent, definitely their apex. 3 song EP ‘Favorite Spanish Dishes’ from same period is also very special.

Merlin are wicked. Ordered a stack of stuff midnight Thu, including some special non-standard requests. All arrived 07.30 this morning. Chuffed.

Whatever you do don’t miss Machynleth. Can’t tell you about Mach 1, 2 & 3 but Climachx is a thing of wonder. I have a similar trip planned this weekend and will deffo be going back to Machynleth.

Thanks all, very helpful. Looks like it’ll likely be a 20″ Whippet once the next shipment of frames rolls in…
