I use napster on my sonos system and it’s ace. Sooooo easy to use and integrates brilliantly with sonos (not sure about SB)

Since setting the system up and signing up to Napster I haven’t used my iTunes or CD collection, we’ve (me and her indoors) have found loads of great new (and not so new) music.

    Highly recommended

I’ll reserve judgement until pics are seen BUT if it’s how you describe then it’s dodgy and the seller shouldn’t be trusted in future, especially when a bribe is offered for your silence.

I’ve been in the position where the buyer wasn’t happy with my description, I covered postage and refunded no probs. it taught me a lesson – post as many pics as you can or at least send a load through before money changes hands even if what your selling is £15 (as it was in my case)

This was mine (my FS thread) which shows spec – http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-3x-bikes-santa-cruz-blur-ltc-dialled-lovehate-ti-road-bike-might-split

The tyres didn’t help with weight!

My GF had a nicely specced LT2 which weighed 28lbs which she absoutely loved – I must just have had a different experience.

Had one for about 9mts took it abroad with me etc and used it as my only bike for a short period of time – so think I got to know it well.

    I’m 5 11 and rode a large with a 60mm stem
Wasn’t too light in reality 30lbs with air shock and 32 ishwith coil
Ran it with 150mm forks all the time

IMO not worth the money, head angle too steep for an AM bike, TT too short for a XC bike. My alpine 160 descends better and climbs better. Vpp2 isn’t the plushest of suspension designs either.

Other than all that it was a pleasant bike!

I’ve got a Gamut p20 on my alpine 160 and have had no issues, I run a 34t up front and it’s only noisy when in 36t rear cog.

I run I MRP x1 on my Soul and have had no issues either.

    I’d throughly recommend it.

We did it mid week in April a couple of years ago and it was great – Deffo will do it again.

Snow at the top, minimal walkers and sunshine made for a great day out. Took a couple of hours to ride/push up (stopped for food near the top) and about an hour down Rangers / Telegraph valley back to llanberis.

Rangers is largely rideable with just 2 sections that we had to session a couple of times to clear.

These are the race levers – I think this pic is of the ltd edition ‘evo’ m4. So I imagine the ‘evo’ levers are the same?

Mine are not the ltd edition but standard 2011 m4’s mated to the race levers (same as in pic but without the ano green bits).

The lever shape and throw on the race levers just feels right, and with the power of the m4’s the modulation is excellent

Either m4 or x2 but try and get some with race levers – if you can’t get hold of the ltd edition m4s with race levers then maybe ask hope direct?

I’ve got some custom M4’s with race levers and they are by far best brakes we have on any of the bikes in the house. Tech levers are good for their adjustability but feel pants compared to the race levers (2 bikes in the household are running tech levers).

oh shes slack, I definatly notice that on steep uphills never notice bb been too high there designed for up to 160. never rode anything more stable down hill though

I knew she would be :-)

The summer season was designed to be slack with 100mm forks, the geometry is different to 456 or c456.

I’ve rode a ss with 140’s and that was very stable DH! Can’t imagine HA with 160’s, maybe 63 deg static?

The mrs runs her’s with 120mm black box maxle rebas.

Not too steep or slack – she ran some talas previously on it but always at 120mm so plumped for the rebas for better damping and to save a shed load of weight.

Ive slapped a 150mm sektor 20mm bolt through, mines a summer season but most fun ive had downhill

BB not too high? Never mind slackorama!

Sorry to hear of the loss of your dog.

Both me and the mrs use Altura React jobbies. I’ll normally do anything to avoid wearing a rain jacket but the jacket I’m wearing currently is fine. Cost about £100 but can’t remember the model. Fit well too, not roadie tight but won’t flap about in the wind.

I’ve had a stealth previously, prefer the Altura.

edit – mines the Altura Attack

    Im 5 11″ and had a 17″ with a 70 mm stem. Ideally wanted to run a 50mm stem.

I’d say 17″ would be fine for you with a short stem. Maybe a 15″ if you want to really throw it around and don’t mind a lot of post showing for xc duties.

Have a soul now though for HT duties, feels as good on the descents but more sprightly on the ups (my P7 was a 2009 which IMO was best year as pre CEN but with decent dropouts – anything post 2010 feels harsh and not as ‘steel like’)

    I ride a soul.

It rides best at around 120mm, I rarely run it at 140mm as it fells dead on most but the steepest techfests (where I’d prefer my FS anyway) :D . Rides perfectly well at 100mm though.

I didnt get on with NN – ran one on the front and it lasted 1 ride before it ended up in the spares bin.

I run fat albert 2.25 F & R tubeless (snakeskin) on my hardtail and a minion front highroller rear combo on the FS. The Mrs runs Fat Alberts on her FS and HT – we’ve just got back from Stainburn (anyone who knows the black WBT at Stainburn knows its a slip fest at this time of year) and I ran minion ST on the front and highroller ST on the back – the Mrs with her standard compound fat Alberts kept up no probs.

I’d try some FA in 2.25 guise with the SS sidewalls, don’t pay rrp as if you shop around you’ll get a pair for £45 ( we got ours from O-O)

Jeez – what vets do you use? That would have cost us around £25.

At that point, a very well know chain of vets. Suffice to say we now use a local vet.

I remember the vet clicking a button on his computer and it was charging us by the second (or so it seemed).

Our vet (whom we called last night) was fantastic. The way I felt after trawling through tens of google pages last night I would of happily paid any amount to make sure he was ok.

Just got back from a moorland walk , he seemed right as rain.

Thanks to all for taking the time to respond!

Well that was the worst nights sleep ever.

Spent the night on the sofa with the dog next to me, he has been sick another couple of times and spent most of the night scratching at the door to get out.

In future, when we are at anyone else’s house I’m conducting a full recce of the place to ensure anything remotely edible is out of his reach.

Just spoke to vet (don’t you like how I checked the STW hive rather than a professional)

Vet said he we would have needed around 500g of pure chocolate for it to be life threatening for a dog of his weight and the fact he vomited would help.

She said that we will enjoy picking his presses up for next few days.

    phew!

It was that website that got the mrs really worried

    oxnop

I would give your out of hours Vet a call for advice just now. Can’t hurt to be reassured by an expert.

Last time we did this the dog had chewed up a bottle of toilet duck, we were told to bring the dog in urgently. We saw the vet for 5 mins (we told him we gave the dog milk) he said we had done the right thing and charged us £100 for the trouble.

The box of Black Magic was 500g and I reckon he had spewed most of it up over the mother-in-laws new carpet (bag of sick was heavy 8O )

I imagine a 500g box would contain c.250g of actual chocolate?

He might leave a calling card in the morning…

    Already prepared myself for that

    Why should you be worried?

The power of Google tells me that dogs die when they eat dark chocolate

I only ever see Oxnop in Wales: Penmachno and the arse end of the Rangers path

Ha – still remember that day. The mrs got down rangers with 2 dabs and no bike damage, she was so happy she laid her bike down to give me 5 and wrote her forks off by resting stanctions against a rock

Geo got slacker in 2009 (they also revised cable routing and added Reynolds TT)

Geo stayed same (I think) for 2011 but changed to 30.9 post and tapered HT.

Id sum it up by saying that the AM is trying to be somthing it is not. The five is ace at 140 but the slackness of a five with 160s made it feel dead and slow. I ended up leaving the talas at 130 in the main.

My Alpine is built as 1×10 and coil shock and weighs just under 32lbs, heavier than my previous bikes (mojo sl/ blur LTc etc) but still climbs fine. I can get up anything that I can on my Soul no issues.

The Alpine is just a great bike, angles are perfect, long wheelbase and lowish BB all contribute. It’s a capable descender and hasn’t felt out of shape on anything including a recent trip to the alps
