Matt, both myself and my GF ride (alot), we also have careers and are young so we had lots to consider before taking the leap.

Finn was easy to house train, we were advised to use a crate so he would feel as though he had his own 'safe place' this also helped with toilet training. He was 9 wks old when we got him & was fully house trained within 10 days & never did a number 2 indoors! (we may of been lucky).

You could get a dog which would be much 'easier' to train off the lead etc but with patience all dogs can be trained. When we go away he stays with our parents and they even let him be off the lead with not too much trouble.

If you have any more questions/concerns then feel free to email me (in profile), im not a beagle sales rep or expert but do have first hand experience.

Good luck (you'll need it) with whatever breed you decide on though!

I have a beagle so I would obviously say to get one.

Dont just get a dog to be a mtb dog. Consider all aspects.

Yeah, beagles are hard to train & are strong willed but they are really good with children/cats etc ( & chicks dig them )

We took our beagle everywhere with us, camping/walking/climbing etc from being young and he was perfect off the lead, so we thought 'beagles are easy to train'.

THEN 'dog puberty' starts, Finn was rubbish off the lead for a bit & we thought 'beagles are really hard to train'. But then we got him 'done' and he is now 2 yr old so he is now getting good off the lead again. (over the next few months we are going to be introducing him to some MTB trails)

Here he is wild camping at 4mts old (excuse my bed head)

And here he is more recently at the beach.

So its easy to say 'avoid like the plague' but you need to think about what you want, my beagle never causes any probs they are seen as a dog with very few health complaints, he is brill with ALL other dogs & is suprisingly good off the lead. (& pretty cute!)

Just driving back from gisburn now. We got there for 830 the rain was lashing down, but wow, much better than expected. Really grippy( even the slab ) in the wet.

Pleased there is a place to mess about/have a quick blast only 40 mins from home. Looking forward to when it gets waymarked (the yellow crayon arrows did help tho!)

I live behind the flappits so know it pretty well, it used to be ok but lately it got too busy to be safe. It was also dangerous for motorcyclists as when the car park was full people started to park on the road, I myself was nearly hit at speed and had to carry out a pretty impressive manouvre on a sports bike I had only had bought that day!

I had this on my old golf gt tdi.

The clips that secured the pipe into the intercooler used to be made from plastic & under heavy boost used to fail & the pipe would dislodge slightly causing all the problems you state.

Very rare for modern tubos to fail (unless starved of oil) so I agree and say it will be a split/dislodged pipe.

    Good luck

I see the helmet is one of the cheaper giros

    – true, but when shopping for this helmet she was encouraged to try on all the helmets availabe. I wanted her to get some thing a little more upmarket as im clearly a ‘bike snob’ but the shop assistant shot me down and returned with a recent mag which had tested female specific helmets – the Giro Skyla did quite well and WMB ranked it second behind a £115 specialized.

Also after a big off I thought a helmet should be replaced, and if its clearly damaged then more reason to replace, rather than it looking like its still held together but the structural integrity has failed.

Thanks for the CRW tip though.

Glad she’s OK, cracked a few in my time, doesn’t mean they are life savers…I’m happy to save some skin tho.

Agreed, she was in a bad way though when I got to her. I thought her arm was broken and she was covered in blood (people will think she has a violent partner!) I just dont want to think about the state she would have been in if she wasnt wearing a helmet.

Keep a close eye for the next few days

There have been a few occasions today when I have thought about a trip to A&E as she’s been feeling a bit drowsey with a headache. We will see how she is tomorrow

I bought some windscreen washer tubing from halfrauds yesterday( I got the largest size), it didn’t fit my gf’s mono minis. So I boiled it in some water, then streched it down a piece of metal rod then melted the end so it stayed that size. It worked a treat.

I am looking to be doing this kind of conversion shortly, also with a T5. I will be interested to see how people got on. Im quite lucky though, a guy on my street installs the pop top roof and another fits-out the interior.

Id be interested to know how much people have been charged for the whole conversion when supplying the van themselves.

Dont bother wasting your money on all the courses, unless you know somebody you will have no chance with north sea work.

If somebody knew my gf had been sleeping around on holiday or at home I’d want to be told. How sh*t would we all feel If we found out people knew about this and didn’t tell.

It seems you don’t really know this girl so you prob don’t really care if she cold shoulders you in the future, **** her and tell him (not literely though, even though she prob would)

I know a really nice place near lancashire, it’s called Yorkshire.

My girlfriend was from burnley before I rescued her, it’s like driving through beruit but without sun! & we have now come to the conclusion that all males older than 2 have short back and sides.

Thanks guys. When I was last in the shop at llandegla I noted that they stocked commencals so I’m hoping they may have one in. I’m going to give them a ring in the morning to see, if not then merlin it is. It’s not too much of a detour as we are dropping our dog off at my mrs mums which is in Burnley.

Changed back to a 60mm stem & trying out some holzfeller DH bars & after multiple seatpost slips ive plumped for a 30mm thomson seatpost, feels good so far.

Well the proof will be in the pudding, I have a long body so after a 5 min ride I realised that the tt seemed a bit shortfor the kind of riding i will be doing (mostly). so I tried a stem from another bike and it felt really good. I’ll know for def after a ‘real’ ride tom.

On another note I have noticed a knocking on the fork when it’s a mid travel position, but the knocking is not apparent when at 110mm or 140mm. Is this normal on 409 revs?

    Just built it up tonight

Just finished having a mess about to see how she feels.

It was only built up for 5mins when I scrapped the bars & stem and replaced with a 90mm Race Face Deus stem and Race Face Deus wide riser bars. I also put on some white ODI ruffian grips & a ‘Chain slap’ protector!

I also weighed the bike and it weighed in at 28lbs, which im pretty pleased at.

It felt weird to begin with i think i have got so used to the rear suspension of my pace and titus, even hopping about felt weird.

Cant wait to throw it down a hill tho!
