If so are these warm enough for general winter riding?

Demo what you are considering – I was dead set on a alpine 160 until I went over to orange and spoke to the guys there & don't do what I do and buy before trying.

This year I have had/still have: 2009 trance advanced, Titus supermoto, pace rc405, stumpy m5, genesis alpitutde, 2009 orange 5 AM, 2009 Santa cruz chameleon & my GF has a 2010 blur LT.

I was running the pace as my full sus for a while (did sierra Nevada on my pace) and thought it was a bike for life until I demoed my mates 5AM. I have had horst link/free floater/single pivot so far and can safely say that the 5 is the best bike I have ridden. The blur LT is pretty good though I wish she rode a large.

Looking for a new light for the GF – that airbike p7 shot doesn't look too bad for the money. Any body know any reason not to buy one of those?

    What about this: http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/audi-a4-avant-s-line

it does 35mpg on a run & includes Thule aero roof bars & 2 x Thule bike carriers.

Use whatever you use normally. I have always found that if I have an off then my feet come out anyway and that I still would of had the off regardless of being clipped in or on flats.

I don't find it ott either especially if you go to alps/Spain on your holidays I appreciate the extra heat dispersion/power- if your not bothered about weight then bigger the better! IMO!

I've got these on my 5 (203/183) and my gf has got them on her blur LT2 (183/183)

I think they are great, bling and are fine for AM riding but maybe a tad heavy for general xc stuff.

I think they are too powerful and heavy for the GF though – but she wanted them & I wasn't going to argue!

    Buy some!

    Update.

So after rehearsing what I was going to say I called the shop. After starting my rant I soon realised that I was talking to someone who actually cared about the problems we'd been having.

Within a few mins I had allready been offered a full refund – which I was slightly taken back by.

I was speaking to the assistant manager (craig) and he has ended up sorting my GF out(can't believe I wrote that) big time.

He said he would have a think and see what he could do for us.

Within a few hours he had called us back and offered her a brand new blur LT in AM guise ( x9/ 2010 rev uturns/ tech m4's etc etc) in any colour she fancied – White of course!

So we have just picked the bike up (I'm sat in my van outside pizza shop as i type) and feel compelled to respond to what I wrote above.

Sarah is well chuffed and I've come away thinking that customer service is down to the person you speak to and I shouldn't have been so quick to loose my rag.

Thanks stif – we'll be using you again

I had the 775's on my old bike & they never caused me any trouble. Plus the modualtion was excellent.

I now have tech m4's on my newer bike and love them too so I would say it comes down to looks/cost.

Agreed mugboo. First went 3 yrs ago when trying to get the GF into riding so it was fine for that, been about 4 times since on a HT, part of a large group and as a very early morning fast blast with a very fast mate to make more interesting but still felt underwhelmed. As you say it's always well organised and the on site facilities are great.

All the above IMO though as I'm sure lots of people think it's great including lots of fellow teambadders.

Had a 2009- sold it. I'm not that tall 5 11" and found the 18.5" (there largest size) too small. Also the quality of welding on the frame was the worst I've seen on a bike (mine might of been a bad example).

I only paid £800 brand new & boxed which sweetened the deal though.

    I sold my 405 to buy a 5 – best bike i've had.

I used to set mine up with recommented sag but set it to rebound faster. I always did think that the pace felt plush considering the type of bike it was.

I used to worry that I'd bottom out the rear shock but after landing 4/5ft to flat drops whithout bottoming out I wouldn't worry- the shock profile is very linear and won't ramp through the final part of the travel quickly.

I would stick with the rev130's as they are the correct height for the bike – bear in mind it's not designed to be a techy/play bike, I always thought of mine being a comfy all day xc bike.

I only sold it as the geo didn't suit my shape – I bought a large as I needed the TT length but it always felt too big to throw about.

After a nightmare with her ibis mojo we have just bought the GF a new blur LT2 after considering the tracer & 5 spot also.

She didnt like the look of the 5 spot (WTF!) and she wanted her new bike to be white so the blur won!

I would never recommend choosing a bike based upon looks or colour but she is a woman though!

Looking at the 'new' carbon dt Swiss shock it looks as though it may be cracked! Put the bike away now and I don't want to look at it again!

Mark- I prob would of got better service from lester or even moz.

Mybike – cheers for the offer (again) If needed I'll drop you a text.

Simmering down now- think we will really push for our money back as I don't want this kind of service if something else was to go wrong in future!

I feel weird- I can't believe how mad I am. Is it normal to get so worked up? It's just that I've prob spent 10 hours driving to and fro + leaving work early etc to try and get this sorted. We had a big ride planned this weekend with friends & it's just really got to me.

I'm supposed to be going out tonight but I'm not now as I don't think I'm in the right frame of mind.

    Crap crap service.

Maybe the battery connected to the remote lock out.

I'm sure there is a thread relating to pointless car features, what about pointless bike features i.e. Electric remote lockout

There was sarcasim in my points above. I live in the country and regularly walk my dog through fields with cattle out to pasture. I myself always make sure my dog is under close control. But to shoot an animal for chasing sheep when sheep dogs chase and nip anyway is a bit extreme!

    oxnop

Couldn't the dog owner just buy the farmer a few more cows etc?

    oxnop

I don't know whether I'm getting too worked up over this thread but I'm sat here with my dog at my feet, If a farmer had shot my dog I'd be doing time now so wouldn't be reading this thread.

Why dont you call the police and see what response you get?

When my dog was a puppy he slipped his collar and chased some sheep for about 30secs (my dog was 3 mts old)
some guys started to get involved in the distance – shouting abuse and causing a stir – rather than help me try to get my rather excitable puppy back they continued to shout abuse from afar. To say I was highly pi**ed off is an understatement – I put my dog in the car very quickly and proceeded to find these idiots – suffice to say I don't think these guys will ever shout unhelpful comments from the middle distance again.

I would also say if you do see a dog chasing cattle and the owners are clearly distressed why don't you try and help them get their dog back..

I love mine (2009 AM with 36's & maxle etc) weighs 31lbs. I've been through 6 fs bikes this year searching for MY perfect bike and I think this is it. I've had nothing less than great customer service from orange. And they are manufactured locally at bairstows and assembled locally too!

Wouldn't want to ride round with forks set at 160 all day mind!
