i've been up there today and luckily we didn't bump into the aggressive landowner – My mate who I was riding with is in the marines and has just spent 8 days in the nevada desert doing advanced high level parachute training with American special forces – he arrived home on Saturday morning and was very tired/grumpy. I wouldn't have wanted to be there if he was pushed in the chest by this guy.

Thanks for the tip – ill avoid in future.

My girlfriend is even screaming at the video 'you need more of a run up than that!!!!' If he rode it first time without stopping then there wouldn't have been any issues.

That slab is good fun in the pouring rain though!!

Rode local around Bingley/Oxenhope/Hebden Bridge today – not fully dried out yet but definitely much dryer than last weekend

I had a large pace 405 for 6 mts last year – I only sold it as it felt a bit too big to be chuckable (im 5 11) and the medium felt a bit too small. Id definitely demo one to make sure the sizing is for you.

The pace went up like a goat – no bob whatsoever & never adjusted the floodgate on the DT swiss shock to lock it out. It was also fantastically plush on the descents. (I sold it to buy a 5AM but then sold that to buy a mojo as the single pivot 5 felt a bit 'wooden'- I must be a multi pivot fan boi! )

Here is my old bike in sierra nevada last year – it handled all the trails brilliantly & never felt like I needed more travel so I think the 506 would be too much for the uk unless you do a bit of freeride etc.

Bang it into the frame – it worked on stumpjumper which hadn't been touched for over a year.
We had tried everything -plusgas, kettle trick, hole drilled & connected to a 10ft scaffolding pole to twist etc. All didn't work.

I was actually selling the bike & the guy was literally 10 mins away – final option was the hammer into frame trick – 30 seconds later – new post in frame & as good as new.

What's this red dot you're on about?? Mines a 3gs btw, where is this moisture sensor??

The one you can see easily is the white patch inside the headphone jack which turns red when submersed in water. There are further sensors under the screen & where the docking cable connects at the bottom.

Oxnop, I take yours was a 18" and why did you sell? The 36s come on the full bikes so will see how I find them then sell on if unhappy. Are the 2010 Rev Teams u-turn then?

Yep 18", sold as I wanted to build a lighter bike which would handle what the five would + there is nothing quite like the feeling of building a new bike

The 36's made the front end feel heavy and as I said above the 36's made the bike feel a little 'wooden'(IMO), the over-damped rear shock didn't help with the wooden feeling (single pivot trait IMO)

I sold the frame/hope seat clamp/BB/hope headset for £750 (it looked brand new TBH)

And yes the revs are uturn.

sold my 2009 five AM a couple of months ago

Im 5 11" and it fit me fine – my mate took it for a weekend and loved it – He is 5 9"

I rode mine mainly at 130mm – only extended to 160mm on really steep stuff – id go for some 2010 rev teams (150 – 120) rather then the 36's you would save at least a lb (i think) and they seem much plusher/ more controlled than the 36's (got them on my mojo and rate them)

Or you could go up that track just below Stephen Smiths garden centre, that brings you out above Blackhills scout camp, then down into Cottingley, and then Bingley.

There are some nice cheeky routes around the track mentioned – some of which Tracy Moseley rode very recently & approved of :D

I sold all my DSLR gear a few months ago (wasn't getting much use out of it) and decided to buy a decent compact.

I've had a samsung NV10 (which was great until the lens mechanism packed up). I spent ages looking around for a suitable replacement – Fuji finepix 200exr. switchable sensor, upto 12800 ISO and a 28mm lens.

Its been faultless so far & you can pick one up for less than £200 now.

Flipiddy – Sounds just like what I’ve been going through.

Started my new on 4th of Jan – Micromanaging, vague briefs all sound very familiar.

My boss works 12hrs a day and expects me to do the same, I feel guilty for leaving on time/going for lunch. I have actively been putting off ordering my blackberry and laptop – but today they finally arrived – no escape now.

I also got a good pay rise (circa 10k) plus it was seen as a fantastic promotion by my friends & colleagues; I can’t stop feeling like I took the job for the wrong reasons though.

I’m personally going to stick with it for 6 months and then move on as I don’t want it to start to have an impact on my home life/health & I’m only 25!

    Good luck

No probs Dave :-) glad your mate has caught the 'bug', you'll have to get him on STW – then he will develop an addiction too.

let's hope we have the some more of that fine weather when we're all up in't lakes……jinxed!

Mojo sl :D – mines built burly(ish) 150mm forks/ex1750 wheels/tech m4's and still weighs less than 27lbs & has handled all what I've thrown at it over past mth- gisburn DH / 5ft drops to flat / 30 mile all day rides etc.

BTW you'll get loads of people telling you what ever they have will be best. Like me

Spooky- don't need a credit check to renew your mortgage as it's a matter of retaining your custom. Only need a credit check when something is changing i.e. Increasing mortgage amount or taking someone off.

Totally agree with you about nationwide not needing to do a full credit check 3 yrs ago- exactly the reason why we had all this sub prime lending!

And yes it is a data protection issue/complience issue when having a check done and customer consent is require – nowadays it's 'say no to credit check say no to finance'

    oxnop

    – a credit check will deffo be required even if there is no further borrowing
    – if the LTV is below 60% then 'actual' proof of income may not be required
    – income multiples are not factored any more it's monthly expendature v's outgoing (not your wifes approx expen but based upon ONS figs) so before you pay application fee it may be worth going through a realistic budget planner with her
    – shop around for a solicitor- don't go with who nationwide suggest as they will be taking a cut

BTW – I wouldn't worry if it's just 1 cc payment missed – if she says it was an oversight and that the payment is now on DD then there will be no problem (make sure she discloses it up front when the mortgage advisor is talking about credit check disclosure – rather than her been asked about it)

If you want any more specific info let me know – email in profile (but not in an official advice capacity – gave up advice a few year ago and run operations for 3 uk based call centres with 450 mortgage staff)

You will be required to do a 'transfer of equity'/ 'change of borrower' application. She will be treated as though she is a new customer and will be scored in the same way- there is no requirement for the lender to take you off the current agreement and if the lender thinks that it's risk is increasing then it will be a no.

BTW which lender is it as I might be able to give you some insight into their individual u/w policy.

I recently sold my 2009 36's to buy some 2010 team rev's 150. I've had 2008 & 2009 revs, 2007,2008,2009 pikes, fox 140 rlc, f100 rl, float 100rlt etc etc and the 2010 revs (black box version) are by far the best I've tried (weight v's plushness v's cost)

built it a few weeks ago as my 'do it all bike' built quite burly TBH (150mm black box revs, tech m4's etc)- bought the frame new from stif for a little less than what your lbs are charging.

My other half's mojo was built to about 24lbs but had xtr/x0 etc – still a nice bike BTW but prefers her LT2
