Forge – you know I was only joking id only watched 15secs and then posted the comment!

Watched it in full now though – Looks like it has lots of switchbacks/trail features to kill the speed (am i right??) – quite a bit different to fort bill DH/AE uplift days.

224 looks nice too (seen pics a few months ago)

I dont see why you would want to change from the p7. I've just built a P7 up and the blur LTc hasn't been out since!

    In the last year i've had 3 HT's (2009 chameleon, 2009 alpitude & the P7) P7 best by far.

Summary – Effortlessness – choose an auto. Fun – choose a manual. Special case – Choose what is appropriate

Not really IMO – had a 2.0l T audi A4 S-line which was a manual as my last vehicle & a 2.0T Golf GTI with DSG and flappy paddles now. Dont think ill be wanting another manual (even though my other vehicle is a manual) the DSG is amazing.

i've had to pre-load my CK headset quite a lot to get rid of play

The extra amount of pre load is obviously hard to quantify without a torque wrench but i've just fitted the SFN and tightened it all up with a bit more effort than usual, i cant hear clicking but if I hold the dust cap I can still feel a very small amount of movement – is this normal with CK headsets??

AAArrrggghhh – does anyone live in the Hebden/Keighley/Bradford region and fancy swapping headsets!!!

Thanks for the replies – i've been messing around with it all night. I have a tapered CK headset on my other bike and its been faultless in the few months ive had it

Im putting the SFN in now before I go to bed.

Could the CK headset be at fault??

    Remove head doctor.
Tighted up the main bung bit an make sure it works as intended.
Undo and re-insert to sensible depth.
Use 8mm allen key to get as tight as you can. Alloy steerer should be fine to give it a good heave.
Leave the allen key and hit with mallet. If that causes no movement remove allen key. If it does move, tighten more, then repeat.
Place top cap on, insert bolt and then tighten until bearings stop turning freely.
    Un-tighten a tiny amount.
    Tighten stem bolts.

Did all that to no avail!

If all that fails get an SFN, what was wrong with one anyway?

I had a HD knocking about in my toolbox, there was also a thread on here the other day with loadsa people stating that they were great. Its ruined 2 great rides so far – unless its my headset!

I ride my LTc with 150 RLC FIT's (0 deg rise & low rise bars) – I have not missed the adjustability of the Uturn revs I had previous.

I also run a monarch 4.2 on my LTc – it feels great but started loosing air within 3 months.
My girlfriend has a monarch 3.3 on her LT2 – I sent it back to stif on Tuesday as it started to loose air within 8 months.

I never had this issue with rp23's.

I quite like the descent down to lumb bridge from colden – nice drifting on the switchbacks.

Also the Peckett well descent (making sure you fork right) is really nice when it's damp!

Neither are particularly long descents – but I don't think you have the height in Calderdale to achieve a proper long descent- I'd like to be proved wrong though!

Took mine out around Gisburn today he didn't do the full red due to it being to hot for him and he also cut his paw removing the top layer of his pad

2hottie – We took our dog around Gisburn a month back – he ended up doing some serious damage to his pad – this is how he ended up (for 1 month in total!)

He said he liked the trail though

I'm happy to take the LTc off your hands, seeing as you don't need it anymore…

    Not quite there yet….

Just got back in from another ride on it – Still loving it, I cant believe how much more i'm preferring to ride this compared to the Chameleon or Alpitude I had before ( IMO! – I know how much others love the chameleon)

Just done something similar myself with a Kinesis Maxlight, finished last week & only Stands me at approx £450 ( not done a proper add up yet ) Frame alone retails at £380 on CRC! Full Fox/XT/XTR etc…

    Good feeling isn't it!

I cant see myself buying a new build again – my last 3 bikes have been built using ebay/stw and put together by myself – nice sense of achievement too when you complete the first ride and nothing has dropped off!

Thanks guys – can i just say I even fit the headset myself!! (rolling pin & chopping board came in handy  )

Yep- booking this week again with Ciclo Montana for September. The conditions are perfect (IMO)- fast and technical.

    You'll love it!

(I'm not selling my full sus BTW) on Friday I'd finished building a nicely specced P7 – I wanted a HT to save the parts on the LTc and to use when the weather/conditions are gloomy.

This weekend the plan was to do a shakedown ride on the P7 to make sure bits didn't fall off and the Sunday ride would be a techy affair with big drops and some jumpy bits – perfect full Sus riding.

I didn't get the blur out of the cellar this weekend – the P7 is fantastic, I was able to keep up with the peeps on bigger bikes and could do all the stuff I would have avoided on a HT before. I feel like I'm born again – I'm really excited about going out again on it as all the regular trails feel like new trails.

I can see why people go back to HT's (I do think it's bike dependant as I built up a 2010 chameleon which I hated and I didn't much like a Genesis Alpitude I had previously)

The EVF is good though – I just find the G1 is that little bit bigger that makes it not pocketable

I see where you are coming from – I went to buy the GF1 off after reading the GF1 thread (i think you started) and all the talk of the GF1 being so pocketable, the reason I didn't go for the GF1 is that its actually not that pocketable (I don't have any pockets big enough to fit it in!) also I wouldn't want a £500 camera out of a decent case – so once you buy a suitable case there is no real size benefit between the 2.

Went to buy a GF1 ended up buying a G1 – i've sold my full size DSLR's since buying it as they were not getting used.

It is such a nice camera to work with – Even the GF takes good pics with it

Yeah the G1 is a great little camera at current prices. Not as sexy as the GF1 though

in my opinion the G1 is sexier – nicer in the hand & wouldn't I be without the EVF

We crate trained our beagle from being 8 weeks old – he ended up loving his crate it became his safe area.

Dogs feel safe in small spaces – i'm sure your dog will be fine.

EDIT – we use one of those twisty things as pictured above – really useful when camping.

I've had both 2010 Revelation team (on a blur lt2 and mojo SL) and 150 FIT (on my LTC) – my GF still has some rev team's on her LT2

I could have chose any forks for my new winter bike build (2010 p7) but decided on some 2010 Fox talas FIT. I could have saved some cash and gone for the Rockshox but after running the float 150 for the past 3 months I much prefer the 15qr system and I prefer the feel of the fox especially on bigger hits – ie doesn't bottom out like the RS seemed to but retains a nice feel over smaller bumps.

Plus – in 5 years of owning fox forks I've never bothered with stripping them down every 15/30 hrs I just make sure the stancions are clean – put the bike upside down before a ride to load fluid on the wiper seals and every few rides lube with Teflon. Never had any problems.

Love my LTc and my other half loves her LT2. We both have had loads of bikes including ibis mojo's, fives, commencals, 405's etc etc

Quite easily the best FS I've ridden – super stiff, lightish and the vpp2 suspension works really well.

I'm about 6ft and ride a large – I wouldn't want it any smaller (inline post and 70mm stem) my mate is 5 10" and rides a large too. I think you would find a large too small.

**** me – i've always used 2 x small zip ties fastened together on the right leg – i've even got one on my rear shock. No issues ever

FWIW i've got some 2010 150 RLC FIT & 2010 Talas RLC FIT on my bikes and neither came with the o ring as mentioned above – hence the ties.

You can even get coloured zip ties to match your colour coded headset/skewer/QR

Nice pic Al – don't quite think that this thread is a public lynching or even a witchhunt. If someone does know him or if matt reply's to numerous texts/emails then that would be great.

At the same time as the above purchase I bought all the other bits associated with a bike build – every other part has been delivered – the wheels came today and were only posted via STD parcels Wednesday and was kept upto date at each stage by all concerned – which is the same treatment I have given stw members when I have sold items.

Won't work – g2 is designed for 29ers to make the front end more nimble/faster steering
