I know i can pedal smoothly other wise my rear suspension bobs up and down

but isn't that more to do with the movement of the body than the feet ?
if you want to go that why then riding in ridged spd shoes your feet dont move your legs do.

perfectly possible to pedal unevenly without that happening, in fact I think you're deluding yourself if you think you CAN pedal smoothly – look at the diagram for evidence!

I know i can pedal smoothly other wise my rear suspension bobs up and down if i mash the pedals round whilst it mat not be perfect it is smooth.
SO for a mtb example just try riding lumpy and watch even your fork bounce. This bounce is energy that is being used in your forks rather that to make you go forwards. You can even feel this on a ridged bike as the tyres will deform.

    My Halfords socket set

    It's a good call!

Another vote for this. Mine is now 15 years old and is still mostly looks like new plus it has a life time warrenty on it.

Smooth power transfer from the wheel to the ground is the most efficent

    how do you know ?

Have you ever whitnessed a train where the regulator is opened to fast?
Have you ever seen an unbalanced washing machine spin up, thats a non smooth power delivery as it takes more power/effort to move it.
There are plenty of walking machine efforts that shake them selves to peices when they try to move.

The smooth delivery of power is why a car/motor bike etc slip their clutchs when pulling of as fast is possible if they didn't do this all they would do is spin the power away.

Mind you i think sfb would argue that black was white just becuase.

A technician will. Did he spend 4 years at university to get a professional qualification?

NO! Therefore he is not an Engineer.

Utter utter bollocks. I've met some very very poor uni educated engineers, and someone with a good understanding of systems coming from a hands on background will run rings around them every time. I've also done uni and my opinion hasn't changed.

Even when I was working in my field, the "technicians" were making more money!

that's because they're more valuable and knowledgable.

I agree with this and whilst the person who went to uni may have 4 years of theory training the person who did a 4 year apprenticeship has 4 years of actualy working on the things where the theory goes out of the window.

I also love the mixture of Imperial and SI units

I think you will find that they are all standard units just a mix of metric and imerial.

I think that the stiff shoes make a big difference rather than they type of pedal but don't care what others use and only care about mine.

To magnify the effects on an MTB, go ride on some ice and see which works best – Smooth or unsmooth

and are we to base our riding techniques on what works best on ice ? Surely holding one's breath is less than ideal in non-icy conditions

Smooth power transfer from the wheel to the ground is the most efficent and as ice has a very low coefficent of friction you have to be very smooth. The smooth delivery of power is why a car/motor bike etc slip their clutchs when pulling of as fast is possible if they didn't do this all they would do is spin the power away.
There is going to be very few if any instances on a bike where you would want or need to spin the rear wheel.

There is normally a compartment in the bottom of the dishwasher for the salt. You should have got a funnel with the dishwasher.

Oh ment to say I prefered the way out of the woods as it ment only one climb before the run in.

    owenfackrell

It was good. It certainly made up for the last 2 years. The changes to last years route were good especially the extra hill before the woods. I like the heat but due to a lack of riding in the last few months ment I stopped at 50k. Hi to anyone I saw (I was on a blue GT fs).

it has to said that the woods are fun on the fs so that may win (plus i can't be assed to sort out the wheels). I will be setting of on the 80k but that may reduce to 50k depending on how i feel.

no way am I wasting my time repackaging and going to the post office with it (see justification for people charging more for P&P on ebay than the cost of the postage).

That might be becuse they are charging you for Posting and Packaging not just the posting cost?

Tests should be performed weekly and the alarm should sound for around 5 seconds max. Worth asking though

depends how big the building is. If its less than 13 zones then its every week. More than 13 zones and its then enough to ensure that every zone gets checked once every 13 weeks.

Correct and ours is so big that we have a rolling progam of weekly testinng to take in every zone (but then it is a big hospital)

Also if its not a test then it should only be silenced on the word of the fire brigrade or at least thats our rules here.

Unless the metal around the holes is very little then there is enough room for Helicoils. You can get them down to at least a M3 but they are fiddly to do M5 is nice and easy and straight forward so you should have no trouble getting them done. You could even buy a helidoil kit and do them your self.

Problem is with French diesel engines is that they come in French cars.

And Fords, Jags, LandRovers/Range Rovers and Volvos to name a few. ;)

Farmers are responsable look here for information straight from their own trade magazine. Whilst I'm not saying sue him he is just as responsable for the damage as if he'd pulled out in front of you.

Would be worth reporting it as farmers etc have a duty of car not to get roads covered in mud.

I have one in our xc90 but only as a direct replacement for the paper one. I got it as it was a good price and should last the life of the car so over all will cost me less. I don't know of it has improved the economy but it hasn't made it worst.

my tinbred does this. All through the winter it's been silent, first sign of summer and it's howling like a banshee during rag week. Next ride out, assuming it's not pissing down I'm going to swap out the superstar sintered pads for a softer compound and see if that has any effect.

mine do this and it was only after trying different rotors which were fineeach timefor a couple of rides and then the noise/vibration would start again that I tried some organic pads. This worked for the whole of last summer and I know change my pads for the seasons but keep meaning to try those ashima SOS pads to see what they are like.

A PD engine may nnot be to bad as they are different in how they work to a common rail engine.
Diesel in a petrol = lots of white smoke out the back and one dead cat amongst the engine bits.

My advice on this is that she needs to talk to some one such as her midwife for impartial advice on both sides as there are consequences to having a termination. My wife tells me that she feels a comection to the baby very early on. If you talk to someone who has lost a baby early on then they have normaly had to have counselling for the loss. That said if she really doesn't want to go through with it then you need to be there for her.

I do know someone who suffered third degree burns when wleding a car and a spark form the welding went into his pit and ignited theb fumes in there. Could you not fit a lift instead as they allow you to take the wheels off as well or do you have a hight restriction.

I heard a Troy spokes man on the radio the other day and he spent the whole time talking about what has happened under labour. At no point did he say anything about what they would do to change this.

There are cases of accidents happening with things happening out side of drivers/cyclists controls and these can happen to the best/most careful of drivers so i think its right to go through the courts but as soon as people are doing things that would get them punishment any way and they have an accident then they should have the full punishment avalible as they have made the desicion to act they way.

Having had a big accident on a trail I was in no position to move me or my bike as I was drifting in and out of consciousness and even to this day (6 years later) I'm not sure where I was lying on the floor. Whilst it's easy to say that people should get out of the way it's not always possible and might take a few minutes to achive if it is.

Solo air uses a self adjusting negative spring while dual air allows you to fine tune it. I belive the new recon has a coil spring and maxel.

You would proberly same that my bike is over kill for a pootle around the new forest but as I do aslo use it for otherthings how do you know that these riders don't? If they are happy with what they bought what's your problem it's not like it's your money they have spent on it is it?

If you can get the seats in then stick with what you have and before you buy a mpg then make sure you take one for a long drive as we didn't get on with how they feel when you are iside of them.

    owenfackrell

We found that it all comes done to the seat shape and where the belts fit inrelation to them. Our old car which was a laguna estate you couldn't fit 2 boosters and a baby seat as with the doors shut there just wasn't the physical room between the door arm rests. We now have a Volvo xc90 which has a built in booster seat in the middle so no problems.

Phones in petrol station is another one thats a myth

Is it? Imagine how many people would be spilling fuel down their legs, putting the wrong fuel in, and getting run over as they walk to the kiosk without looking if they were allowed to use the phone.
I wouldn't like to take my chances if someone spilled some petrol, and then dropped their phone into the vaporising fuel as they tried to stop it!

yes it is mythbusters and others have tried to use a phone to cause a fire an even with perfect conditons the phones don't spark. It would seem that this myth comes from the us where they can latch on the pump they then get back in the car for something and when they get out they don't touch the cars body until they grab the fuel line at which point a small static discharge happens ignighting the vapours.

I have used mine with my fs but I'm not to worried about the side loading as it's a single piviot with nice big bearings. I now mainly ride with mine on the road taking my daughter to nursary. The trailer is the adventure at3 with the alloy frame and isn't to bad to pull but you do notice it on hills it is also well priced at around the £150 mark.

I bet the bosses at Land Rover are laughing all the way to the bank. Think about it a RR sport is just a disco platform with a RR body on and they then charge more than the RR for it.
There are a lot of large 4X4 driven badly though not all just as there are a lot of mid size ex cars driven badly and for the recored i drive a large 4X4 but got it for its 7 seats and tend to drive quite slowly in it.

120k miles for a belt is an awful lot of miles.
I would look to replace it at half that
I agree and as an Alfa owner it is something I would never hesitate over. However I have a Peugeot as well and that is somewhere in the region of 120k as well.

That would be because they are the same engine. The problem arises if your belt fails before the recomended service interval and destroys the engine the car manufactures don't want to know.

In my last place they changed what was covered under the health scheme to not include extreme sports but they used a list as supplied by the insurance industry and bike wasn't rated high enough to count but things like sking and kite boarding did. They can change you t&c's when doing it by consaultaton.

If you could afford a super car then a 6k bike would be peanuts to you as isn't that the running costs of a super car. Oh and supercar for me please (a lambo). for me a supercar is just as much about how it looks as how fast it can go.

2bliss are tubeless ready ie have a tubeless bead but you need to put sealent in to keep them up. The Captains are xc/trail type tyres and Eskars are a bit bigger. You find eskars on enduros and pitchs with the captains on stumpjumpers and fsr's.
