I advertised a set of wheels once and someone pointed out that a similar set could be picked up from Merlin for the same price. I was thankful they did, I revised my thinking and ended up keeping them.

Had simmilar once but the person went on to say that if i sold them to him or half that price then he would do me a favour and take them. Mine were unused but taken off a bike so had priced them at a bit less than i could find them on CRC.

I had forgotten just how fast you can go on a hard tail.

I can say that you don't want to ride to a blood test realise you are running late so sprint the rest of the way as the blood kind of flys out.

Sort of but haven't trained for it. It is just where i have ended up though i do still get involved in the hand on side of engineering.

I must admit it looks like almost a dribble.

That is coming off a 23c tyre and that amount of water for 10 miles or half an hour will soon have you wet.

    coffeeking – Member
Those who ride come rain or shine, how do you avoid the temptation to just jump on the bus/in the car when it's chucking down? I dont believe anyone genuinely looks out of the window at rivers down the tarmac and thinks "good good, another nice ride in".

Not as such but do feel like that a few mins after setting off as by then iam as wet as im going to get and are all warmed up.

If you want to see how much water guards can catch then have a look here
I find that even when it is raining that my backside and back of my legs stay dry and my feet only really get damp.

A renault laguna dci estate as it big and comffy and a renault megane coupe with the willaims engine in it cause its nice some time to be able to accelerate and overtake.

My feelings on it are that we have been doing it for a long time and people have only gotton jumpy about it as we can now do it faster.

The laguna has problems (and i own one) the mondeo whilst better is not with out its costly faults so the avansis whilst boring to drive will be th emost reliable to own.

You need to get it serviced as the filters will need cleaning and the system will need de-bugging.
But basically as the system works it drops moisture out of the air and this is collected and taken to drain but it does cause bugs to grow on th esystem and they should be serviced every six months.

the new audi quattro's can get diff problems if theres more than a 3mm difference in tyre treads.
imagine the conversation's i have with customers, after they have a puncture or sidewall bleb on a tyre, all tyres have 4mm of tread left so plenty of life, but a new tyre is needed, so will be on 8mm of tread, then i tell them that they need 4 tyres as theres more than a 3mm tread differential.
It's a big bill if the diff does get knackered.

How does that go with normal tyre wear rates then as don't the fronts wear much faster?

If its still out on the same side after turning the wheel round it suggest to me that the drop outs are not lined up correctly.

I bring my daughter in by trailer 2 days a week and have overtaken people when pulling it. One guy id did this to didn't seem to like it as he sat in the slipstream fo the rest of the climb and then tried to out sprint me when we go to the down hill part. I just wound the speed up and kept up. the look on his face as he kept looking over his shoulder was well worth it.

Wiggle don't do any of the mainstream bike brands, sell their equipment, but not the bikes.

They sell Kona, Rocky mountain, Gt and thats just on Hard tails or are they not mianstream brands any more?

VERY FEW if not none of the companys ive ever had the pleasure of assembling mail order bikes from – including amongst others pauls , all terrain , crc and evans come in boxes that have been opened since they left the supplier and no bike comes ready to ride from the supplier with just the bars to turn and the wheel and pedals to fit ….

I can confirm that bikes from wiggle have been assembled and out of the original box.

I tend to ride in the worn bit of the road (if you know what i mean)
I am waiting for the day when one of the cars that over takes me crossing the solid white line further back up the road, actually hits a car coming the other way as there has been a few close calls.
As far as i could see at the time he never got any further than the white line.
0091paddy- that was said just after where the vid stops. though i normaly just shake my head at them.

Do you normally ride to work with a helmet cam?

Every day as you never know what may happen and how usfull it will be to have a record of it though most days just get deleted.

Having never bought off E-bay i am not sure about the bid history bit, but Bidder 3 appears to have been fighting it out with themself for the bike.

Bidder 3 has been trying to out bid bidder 2.
Whilst the advert is writen badley it doesn't strike me as dodgy.

Thw crank arm on the drive side on my road one has a gap but the non drive side sits flush. As above have you missed a spacer?

What size tyres are you running? if they are narrow ones then you could try the new crud road ones as they don't need fittings.

As rich-6 says your car went in to run away which is where it starts to run on its oil. this is often through the oil seals on the turbo. By stalling the car the engine should have been saved from any damage as its normally them seizing due to lack of oil that causes the damage.
If you get the turbo replaced then make sure that the intercooler and pipe work is all flushed out.

AH that is one of the reasons that i have a pair of pliers in my bag. The easist way that i have found to get the tyres off is to pull them in the opposite direction (ie towards the center of the rim) though i did once put a pair of conti sport contacts on that took me the best part of an hour to unseat and that was with a tube in.
there is a lot of hawthorn here and the farmers do like to cut it.

If you get a lot of punctures I can see more purpose in it – however I have seen 4 failures of tubeless. Burping and punctures and in each case it was a real faff to fix at the trailside.

They only time i had a tyre burp, which was when i landed badly of a jump, the yre reseated its self stright away. As for th epuncture faff then it is no worse than doing a normal one in that you just check the inside of the tyre for thorns/stones etc and fit in a tube.

If you look here you can see just how much water is coming off the mudguards.

Mud guards IMO don't bother as if its piddling down you'll get wet anyway

I rode home in the pissing rain tonight and when i go t home the only part of me that was dripping wet was my upperbody on the front my feet were merely damp.
I use sks full length guards set as close to the tyres as i can get them.
I have used my helmet cam on the trailer and recorded my ride in the rain and it is amazing the amount of water that pours out of the bottom of the rear guard.

Why's that? – most folk just use normal tyres for tubeless
In fact, given the slightly longer procedure for changing tyres, people may well keep the same ones on longer – so use less overall

This is what happened to me and the fact that i bougth spesh 2bliss ones for £20 each means that they haven't cost me any more than normal folding tyres.

I have had only one puncture on my tubeless set up and that was caused by a large cut to the side wall. That is in 2 years of riding. I have a vid of me landing hard enough to see the rim hit the floor (pressure was to low) and it din't lose any air or damage the tyre.
In contrast i have had about 3 rides on my new HT which has tubes and got one puncture in that time from a small stone that stayed in which in the tubeless set up would have sealed it self.
If you do change tyres a lot then tubeless will be a big faff but if you just fit one set of tyres then it is fantastic.

Not legal as there is set rules on spaceing and size of letters etc. You can bet when it comes round to MOT time they will fit normal plates or go somewhere that will let it pass.

The DSA say I'm an expert, I'd tend to go with their opinion rather than yours.

No they say that you are qualified to teach people how to teach people to drive you are in no way a expert on road saftey.
do you know just what each type of road surface is made up from and the positoning of street furniture that can make a difference to road safety?

Also every time you decied to get in a car you are taking a risk, every time you decied to pull out of a side road you are taking a risk. Every thing in life is taking a risk but each and every person has to decied if they want to take a risk.

I would agree that the standard of driving in this country is appallling but it has more to do with both arragonce and the not wainting to be held up by anyone or anything.

Well the one above has an offical top speed of 130mph the 2.2 is 117, the 2.0t is 127 the 3.5 v6 is 140 and the slowest is a 2.2 dci auto with 140bhp and that does 115.

Goan: Diesel on the road is a mechanical failure. It's a failure of the interface between the tyre and the road.

But maybe in goan world its not called mechanical grip and he has never had an accident where it has been one of those things or maybe he is just a fan of the good old US and has to blame some one even if they are trying to help a fallen child back up.

The idrive is single pivot as the extra bit only effects the bb. the shock is driven directly from the swing arm.
