Now i haven't used a bike hid but my car has them and i can turn those on and off as much as i like plus they are still on the original lamps and they are 5 years old. so i sopose my question on them is are they (bike ones) built less reliable?

The favourite round me seems to be the feeling that they *must* overtake the cyclist. Right now. So they overtake without any thought as to what lies ahead and the number of times people have overtaken and then had to come to a stop for some sort of obstacle/narrowing of the road/traffic jam etc is unbelievable.
Let ME go first into the narrow road bit, I can fit through. Same at a traffic jam, is it really going to hurt to arrive at the back of the queue 2 seconds later than you would by screaming past me and pulling in? I'll only filter up the outside and you'll have to do it all over again.

I think this most days. The ones that are even worse are those that do it and realise when they are level with you that they have to stop so just pull back in on you.

Glad to here that every thing is getting back to normal.
There is often a risk of strep A or B infection with a birth and they are ment to check for it which is sounds like they did for your wife.

Did they really say that…thats an absolutely awful comment to have to overhear!?!

They did. No BS in the HDU.

The staff in there look as rough as the patients. You have to be one hard nosed and dedicated person for that job. I know that I haven't got what it takes to do it.

From working in a large hospital those sort of conversations are not that uncommen unfortunatly but it seem to me that it is a way of dealing with it day to day.

Everything should be OK. It was the little lad's birthday on Tuesday so he missed out. We'll have to make it up to him big style. We also bought and sold a house on Wednesday just to add a little extra stress.

Bugger, you know how to get all the stress over in one big old heap, don't you?

Second that. we are currently waiting to exchange on our house move and that is stressfull enough with out adding a birth to the mix.

It is constant speed that is the best way.
if you drive at a steady 70 on the motorway then you will fair better interms of mpg than driveing on a hilly route where you have to use more of the accelerater pedal in order to get up the hills.
As for your route it will depend on the difference in the distance as to which is cheaper.

I have full lenght guards adn use neopreane over shoes on my feet anda windproof jacket/gloves. the rest is normally shorts and tee buut using bib tights in the coldest months. I find that as long as my hands/feet and upper body is warm then i don't care if it gets wet as after a couple of mins you don't notice it any longer.

My yongest has been going in a trailer since she was about 2 months old using her car seat. She is no just coming up to her 3rd birthday and I still use it to take her to nursary 2 times a week. I did try a helmet on her but like above it pushed her head forward and ended up over her eyes. I came tot he conclusion that has there is a roll cage (which i have tied once, opps) that she wont hit her head in there.
We have an adventrue trailer i also have the extra rain cover (which is just like a buggy one) for it as while the cover is showerproof it will let the water through espically when touched.

I need to get the wheels on our megane done espcially as one of them now has a slow leak on it. It is possible to do your self if you are prepared to put the effort in. If you goole diy wheel repairs then you should find some good write ups on how to do it.

As cars get older you get a much better car the larger you buy as learns and young people want the little cars so you can normally get a newer large car for the price of a older small one.

I use them on my commute to work and they are great (all road). I have tried them off road nad found them rubbish because as soon as you put your feet down (ie to open a gate) they would come up over the toes, this is even worse if you have to push the bike at all. They also (as pointed out above) tear up easy so i now have a pair of northwave boots for off road.

    owenfackrell

I have the northwave ones. I got mine cheap a couple of springs ago from some one how decied that they were to small. He had also snaped the speed lace. I contacted the importer askiing if i could buy a spear and they sent me 2 in the post for free.
The boots are fantastic and even though at this time of year the water comes in through where my foot is i have yet to notice when my feet are wet and they stay lovely and warm.

wasn't riding in the gutter – I know to ride "wide", the road at this point was wide enough for 2 cars. Doofus in the van wanted to squeeze between the car stopped (turning right) and myself.

When using my trailer i always try and ride in the middle of the lane so as to be as vissable as possible. This has work so far except on one occassion where some guy decied to over take not realising ( or not caring) that the cars in front were stopping and that i had been keeping up with them, He just tried to pull into us and force me out the way. I went to reminstrate with him but his wife in the passenger seat had beat me to it and gave him a blow around the head.

I had to file one side of the mounting points of the calipers when i ran juciy 5's with 183 rotors (both front and rear). I also cut the tabs off the pads as i found that they hit the rivits before the pads had worn to half way.

What happen when you pinch flat a tubeless tyre?

You get a nasty ding sound from the rim and you carry on riding for the rest of the day. It is only apon looking at video fotoage later that you realise that the rim has hit the ground lots of times that day. :D

No pictures of my current route which mainly uses the A27 and hence is boring though it is soon to change to a route through the newforest which will be so much nicer.

I have the same camera as you and have bolted mine to the helmet using the tripod mount and some foam and rubber so that if it gets caught on anything it will get pulled out.

    Thanks samuri

It was the first but of filming that day and i was riding faster by the end of it though i tend not to ride the black due to the climb back up.
I think its only graded black due to the step bit near the end.

We had a car writen off as cat c due to the salvage price. We bought it back and put it back on the road for not that much as i didn't use new parts and bought second hand. The damage to the car was the rear axel and rear bimber with some superfical damage to the rear wing.
I would buy a cat c or d write off as how do you know that the car you are buy hasn't been in a bump and been repaired with out using the insurance company? at least with a cat c/d you know what has happened.

I have owned french cars for years and whilst they have ther niggling problems they are cheap to fix and run where as the others are really expensive when it comes to repairs.
The problems that you list people having i know people who have had those problems on 40k bmw and mercs so that proves nothing.
plus you will find that a higher percentage of people reply to those things to justify buying there overpriced cars in the first place.

I find car drivers are much better and nicer when you have a child on the back or a trailer.

It is like they dont want to kill a child and it makes them drive better….perhaps I shpould always attach it.

Never been beeped at or sworn just lots of smiles though.

    This is my experiance too.
You even get pedestrians saying hello and smiling.

I can also recomend the idrive 5 though mine has changed a litle. I would also agree with the it would be even better with a 140mm fork.
This is what mine is currently like.

You should only ever have either 1 or 3 spacers when not using an e type front mech. With a 73mm shell you only need the 1 on the drive side unless you have the e type front mech.

The thing is it has to pass the "person of the street" test of long is resnoble when it comes to lasting.
With regards to the bike pic posted, mine has looked like that a fair few times over winter and i have only this year had to change the wheel bearings (they were 2 and a half years old)the bb is over a year old and most other bits have just been changed as they have natuarly worn.
I think that the components should be able to servive that aslong as you clean the bike after wards you ahould not need to re grease the bearings as they are sealed.

Juan do you work for a manufacturer by any chance

Nope not for a bike shop either I pay standard RPP price for my stuff. I just think that we have been given very bad habit in terms of warranty. Buy a brand new yamaha EX motorbike and start thrashing the life out of it, now when the frame will break in the first couple of month and you go back for a warranty job tell me toward which welder they direct you.
BB are disposable, do you really expect a BB to last a year regardless of the mileage or the service? Don't be ridiculous.

Your motorbike analogy doesn't work as you are saying that you are destroying it rather than just using it as it shgould be and looked after.
I also expect a bb to last longer than a year as all it has to do is go round. The one on my commuter (truative GPX) is coming up to 2 years old and around 6000 miles. The one on my mtb is over a yea and has done over 2000 miles.
I agree with oldgit that things should last when you use them as the manufacture intended.

. Its been puzzling me why it went for a long time, the cars on 72k now and going fine on a recon turbo

Was the car second hand? a lot of diesel turbos die due to how they are treated as a lot of people don't know how to look after them.

Blimey, you're a tough person to please, where's the mecca that you compare it to?

Er…… I dunno……. the trail right next to it? You know the one, starts at the same place, finishes at the same place, you might have seen it on the internet a few times.

You mean the one that is grade as black and a lot of non god like riding persons wouldn't ride down and such they decied to build a easier one for the masses?

I had to walk the 9 miles home from work in january last year when my BB decied to colapse and drop all its bearings. I walked as fast as i could just to stop from getting cold.

We have just got a mortgage for 170k at around that figure but that is on a ltv of 80%. There is also reports that house prices have climbed for the last few months though don't know it that is country wide. I would sit and try and save a bit more money rather than go into -ve equity

As above they should be reporting this and it could have been a lot worse.
A cattle fence is only ment to give the animmal a small shock so as to stop them from wanting to go through the fence yours doesn't sound like this at all.

Scrappies aren't normally the type of people I'd mess with though.

    Out of intrest why?
