I have no problem with getting me or my bike wet but if i ended up submerged as above then i would be looking to regrease things as there is a difference from an engineering point of view from thing just getting splashed/showered in water and being completly submereged. The bits that would worry me the most would be headset/fork and rear sus as the wheels should be able to take it (and HTII bb seize up any way).
But it does look like fun and as you say if you can't get any wetter…

I like my specialized 'The captian' tyres as all rounders. They work ok in the real slop and roll fast enough on hard surfaces plus seem to grip wood rock etc. You can get them in both 2.0 and a 2.2 size though they do come up big. As for price they are not that bad i have the sworks 2bliss ones and only cost me £22 each and the others should be cheaper.

Our now 6 year old first went when she was 3 and was fine but we knew that she was happy to sit through a dvd first. We also took her to a proper showing rather than one where they put the lights up and turn the volume down as otherwise its not a proper experiance. Or youngest is just coming up to 3 and we may thake her soon as she is now happy to sit and watch a whole film.

Currently do 9.5miles each way 5 days a week (and 2 of those i have the trailer on the back) unless i have a late where i dirve in but go for a ride in the morning instead. This is going to go up in a couple of weeks to 15miles each way.

We still get stuff here for the previous owner and we bought the house in 2001. We have tried the 'return to sender not know at this address' route but still get the stuff so its filled under RB otherwise know as the recycle bin.

We are moving house in just over 2 weeks so we are spending our free time sort and packing stuff and fitting a new turbo on the car last weekend. The only riding i have been doing this month is my normal commute to work :(

but by now she's in tears

1 dose of MTFU, please. Seriously why are people bothered by a bit of abuse, give it back or ignore it.

I feel that your comment is not nice as some poeple really don't like to have others shouting, swearing and general;y being agressive. If she had done nothing wrong then i feel sorry for her. When people/drivers do idiotic things aorund me i normally just shake my head in a dismisive way and only get het up when they start to have a go at me (normally telling me to ride on the pavement).

Looking at the list No:14 pagers. We use them a lot here in the hospital as you can get the signal where you can't for a mobile phone and you know some one wants you when you are in a noise place (i work in the maintainence departemtn) and can't see them going any time soon.

Despite all the bashing of me about GPS no one has answered the point – how do you plot a route across a distance without a map? Say Blair Athol to Kingussie?

I regullary plot my rotes on the computer in fact can't remember the last time i didi it with a paper map. I use the zoom function that alows me to see it up close and then far out. It also means i can print of bits or the whole route and i can leave it up on the screen so that my wife knows excatlly where im going.

Blimey Owen – the head tube area is still gleaming!

yep thats how well they workit also helps the heatset to last. The one on that bike is coming up for its 4th winter and is still going strong and the latest ones have longer mount so that its held away from the crown so it won't rub.

This is how well the sks one works.

and you can still see the front edge of your wheel for what thats worth.

On my current commute i ride in heavy traffic and will cut to the front of ques by going down the out side, but whilst doing this i will keep an eye on what is happing both to the que and if any one looks like they are going to turn right. I wouldn't hesitate about overtaking a lorry as long as it was safe to do so but i won't over take people just to sit at the front of the que at a set of lights im happy to wiat my turn (unless they are going no where fast once they go green). I don't use the cycle paths on this route as you have to stop and give way approximatly every 500 yards and they are busys with pedestrians who im sure don't want a bike (and trailer some days) coming up behind them/towards them at 20 odd mph.
Thankfully my new commute is going to be a mixture off quite roads and cycle paths that works well for bikes as its not a route walked by many people and those that do, know that it is well used by bikes and it gets you off a very busy fast road.

I thought of the RS2 but it was made in the 90's there was also the 405 t16 which had 210bhp plus and extra 20 on over boost and 4 wheel drive looked just like and mi16 except for 16 alloys.

I use a SKS shockboard which works very well and you can leave the mount on there all year as its so small.

I think the flaking has come from when the bearings have seized without me realising and the tophats have spun on the shaft

That was my conclusion too except i know that mine have siezed in the past.

    owenfackrell

Has anyone else (Alb?) found their shaft flaking off where it sits in the top hats?

I have marks on my Hone ones (triples) where they fit the BB but it all seems fine to me though it would be the reason that i replace them (or the one i use with the wife). i also have the marks at the end of th ecranks but am not to worried about it as i can't see how it would lead to any kind of failier of the cranks.

absolutely no solicitors are allowed in unless they can estimate the power to weight ratio of a swallow to within 10% (or guess my favourite colour).

    African or European?

you can afford to stump up the lump sum in one go

For me this is the reason why i don't have one no matter how much better value it is over its life. i can't justify to my wife and kids spending that much on a head set (i had trouble wanting to spend nearly half of that on a chainset) just beacuse it will last me 10 years plus so settle for one that will last me if i regrease it every so often.
I do wonder on the internal head set thing if it just beacuse they can't put there name on it as they have only just done an bb now that you can see the cups.

I can see three people in that photo, with the alleged stolen bike in the foreground.

and in context, in the first post, clearly stated by the OP

this is my bike that was stolen on June 24th
The guy in the window is the one that was riding it

Again, what would the two girls in the photo (or the shop owner as you threw in in your original post) be claiming damages for?

[Edit] How have they been libelled?[/Edit]

    there is also this bit

Well OK he might not be the one that lifted it

and the papers have been using this type of writing to call people things for years.

Graham – just like to maintain my safe distance, that's all Not all cars have a high level rear though either. It's not a major issue, just mildly annoying at times.

I thought that it was a euro law for the third brake light now?

Pretty sure on the renaults that it disingages as you pull off. I wouldn't swap my auto dipping rear view mirrors or auto wipers in fact i really miss them when in our outher car that doesn't have them.

If I recognised anyone in that photo I wouldn't think twice about telling them to sue you

Do you look through the papers every day in the vain hope that there may be a picture in there of you near someone else and that you can sue because people will for ever associate you with that other idiot?

I think the audi thing is that they don't have an alternator and use this system instead as they know that most audi drivers drive so close to the car in front that they are constantly having to brake

I really like my auto wipers as it means that on those time that you are passing a large truck/lorry/coach and it suddenly throws up a lot of spray the wipers clear it.

I was in a mate car once with electronic fancy whippers and they where just mad. Car got some drop of water from the condensation in a tunnel and they start working "until the water on the sensor dried" because obviously the sensor is out of reach from the wipers.

Nope never seen a car where the sensor is out of reach of the wipers as it would never work now would it.

And how is reducing the amount of extra things the driver has to think about whilst driving a bad thing?

Our bins live behind the shed next to the road and the bin men take ours from there so if this happened to us we would never know. Insted we get every thing left on the front step in plain view of the main road it is often signed for stuff as well so would like to know whos siging for it.

I have these and some of there summer shoes in a size 41 and thats my normal size. I have found that the toe box is nice and roomy (i have flat feet). I also only use my normal socks in them and have yet to have cold feet.

I have them and use them as my main light for commuting and find them really good for that as you get more than enough light to see the road by and people tend to take a second look when they see them.
If i had some money i would like a second set to have as back up as its a faff to swap them between bikes.(so if any one wants to bin a set i will take care of them for you ;) )

I have done it though it was on larger sizes and had to file part of the caliper to get them to run free. I have since swaped back to shimano rotors for personal reasons.

I use a crud guard on the back with a SKS shock board on the front as this fits the steer tube it follows the front wheel as well as projecting past the front.

My understanding is that a car has to be insured to be on the road. I don't think that your third party cover is enough for this even though it would cover you.

    owenfackrell

I tend to take lots of pics of my bikes mainly so that i have a record of them incase i ever need to claim on my insurance and they querry whats on them. Also like others i tend to ride solo and take scenery pics that my or my not have my bike in as i will depend on where i got off it.

What type of full sus does he want?
if he wants some thing that is fun on the downs then the GT XCR IDrive is a very good bike but you will have to get it from halfords.

i dont know why no one has put an Alfine or Rholoff system into a BB yet.
the answer i normally get it "it wont fit" but cannondale are using BB30, theres bmx sized standards.
    make it bloody fit!

i would put the freewheel mechanism in thier too, so the rear sprocket is a bolt on fixed cog.

    now THAT i would buy.
screw in, forget till it explodes, replace.

There are a couple like that but they are frimly in the downhill freeride camp. I would love one personally.
