I ride a road bike – don't really have a problem with cars passing me at 60 provided they give me enough room (and I'm not significantly happier with somebody passing too close at 40 than 60). In any case, where has anybody suggested speeding past people working? 90%+ of the time when I drive through 50 restrictions on the motorway there is nobody working, and if there are people working I'll slow down even if there isn't a restriction. The big problem IMHO is that there are large amounts of time when 50 restrictions are just protecting the cones, which tends to devalue the importance of such restrictions in motorists minds and make them more likely to speed when people are working.

I know that on ones with contra flows its more to do with the road no longer being a dual carrigeway and if you hit some one doing 70 the other way its a bit like hitting a wall at 140 and after seeing the after marth of a head on between a car doing 60 (police estimate)and a lorry doing 56 i would much rather slow down to the posted speed limit.
To the OP wasn't the newbury bypass by any chance?

Ours is good though we are on the middle package. we get close to the speed promised as well.

If you go looking for a new car take the things you want to fit in with you as boots come up different shapes as well as sizes. I would have thought with a sallon the limiting factor would be the boot oening as you just cant pile stuff on top of each other the way you can with an estate. As a plus estates are good for biking as they give you some where to sit as well.

I think that pic makes it look bigger than it is when compared to the one of it fitted. I may be that they have made it bigger due to higher forces? If so then it may only work on some frames.

The knurling looks to me to replace the last washer you have on a cup and cone hub and as such grips the frame ahen you tighen the qr/axel.
I would also hazard a guess that the adjuster on the disc mount has an allen key hole in its end to allow adjustment and you then lock it of once you have it set up.

I went for a ride in 12 inch+ deep snow today and you go very slow. In fact after taking half an hour to go less than A mile I gave up went back to where my car was and phused my bike to the top of butser hill and then rode back down. Now that was fun dodging the toboganists.

Which department in the hospital do you work as im in estates. I also came in on the mtb to day and the quiet roads/tracks through hythe/marchwood and eling were fun.

About 5 mins longer than normal mind you i only finished at 10 so the roads were empty and round abouts are fun with a hand brake and a high powered front wheel drive car!

I use a triple but normally use just the middle and outer (which are the same size as a normall double) and only really use the granny when towing the trailer. Get what you think is right for you and don't worry about what people think of the looks.

Now I'm going to punch myself in my own head for asking this, but how do they cope elsewhere. I mean this winter weather could last err erm well all winter what with your actual global warming and all that.

I know that in New york they have a snow day and shut the entire city but everyone is expected to make up the time.

When i got up it was still frosty so got dress to ride to the general. I got as far as the end of our drive before i hit the deck. I decied to drive at that point. Our road was just on sheet of ice but the main roads adn M271 were ok. The roundabout next to sainsbury's was very slipply and i went round it sideways at about 15mph and the roads around the hospital were really bad.

MTB races that go from point a to point b tend to have motor bikes following then and often some 4×4 as well. MTB races like xc which are on short course that go round and round is more like track cycling in that respect.

Do you have documented evidence of when they diagnosied the problem with the millage on? If so it should be done under the original warrenty just as it would if you hadn't taken ou the extended one.

unfortunatley most of my riding is done in the dark at thei time of year as its dark when i ride to work and dark when i get home so i would say it was a night ride (this may be why i have no enthusium to get out and ride at night).

That spare form ebay won't work as they can only program one that matches your car. this was done to stop people from nicking the car by get a key programed to it i think.

heather its not that easy. the stage 1 setas are all pretty big and take up a lot of room. and the shape of most car rear seats mean that they won't fit together with out a lot of hasle which is fine for short/occasional journeys but not full time or long ones.

    owenfackrell

Which seats have you got? and are they all booster type ones or a mix with the stage 0 and stage 1 seats?

Are all kids fatter these days?? i remember being a young with my brother and sister, in the back of a metro and maestro and an old pug 309, surely a mondeo is big enough??

The problem is in trying to fit 3 child seats as these are pretty wide.

This is indeed the problem. Not only are they wide but are solid and can't really be moved around like a person can to get seat blets in etc.
GTdave was it a once off in the mondeo? We don't like MPV's and i don't want a french car (not sure on Itallian either)

    Bike: GT idrive5
Tyres: Spec 'the captain' sworks 2bliss 2.2
Type of riding: South downs, Shouthern area, Welsh trail centers The Peaks.
Your thoughts on said Combo: I am running them tublessly and have just left them on all year. I find them to be good on most surfaces but really good on hard pack/rock. Not had any problems with them.

What about an Espace I've always really liked them when I've driven them in France.

We have a laguna  and tried a espace it just wasn't as comffy plus its not any more reliable and harder to work on.

You can get 3 car seats in the back of a Corolla Verso, and I can't believe thats more 'van like' than an XC90. Or any MPV really?? Ford S Max is good as well, even the Zafira.. I got a Verso as to be honest I couldn't find anything I wanted with more than 2 seats

We looked at the verso/scenic/zafira/c4 size and know that while they are ok now they wouldn't be biggenough in a few years as we are planing on 4 kids in total. The problem with the big mpv's is that by making them have lots of room they feel like a van to sit in (ie your sat on it rather than in) compared to the estate cars we have had up until now where as the 4×4's do as they are just higher up.

I know several people who've parted with their XC90s as the fuel costs were ridiculous – every 5mpg extra adds up over a few years.

Thats one of the reasons for looking at the 807 as it does do better mpg.

Had a look at that jb and it came up with what we have looked at (mpv's and 4×4's).
We are going to look at one tomorrow and also a 807 to see if that one is still feels like a van in side.

Fronts don't dazzel as shown above, they light up the road just in front of the car. Rears do but you can still normally see the brake lights as there are rules on where they fogs can be placed in relationship to the brake lights. I tend to use mine in more than just fog. I also use them in heavy rain/spray as you can loose sight of the car in front even in day light but i turn them off when it improves or the traffic slows down. There is nothing worse than having to sit behind a car that has the rear fogs on and the brake lights.

Which type of kids seat? as some have large bases than others. The extra seats will be usefull when having the kids cousins over or when take grandparents etc out with us plus the forward facing seats look a lot safer than the rearward ones in the estate plus where would you put the buggy. not really bothed of what people think of the size of my cock as my wife likes it plus i normally ride to work in lycra. It will make our other car look small though as its a megane coupe.
I had seen the times artical form earlier this year when clrakson bought his 3rd one which seems a good recomendation to me.

the reason for going for a caqr like this as most normal estates you can't get 3 kids seats in unless the adult passanger sits in the middle at the back and my wife strangly likes to sit next to me.
We don't want to spend more than 15k at which point the disco 3's are only just apperring as they are that much newer. The reason for wanting a lower or avarage millage is that we tend to do higher millages due to visiting people (and biking) and don't want to start to get tot he expensive bills to later in its life.

    owenfackrell

b r Whilst the petrol are cheaper to buy the cost more ot run and are worth less later on. I am buying used on this.

    owenfackrell
    Free Member

Not in used prices as the disco seems to have higher millages and we are looking at low as we want to keep the car for a long time.
