If you want easy application with a good result/beading of water then get the AutoGlym polar range as the sealant really does make it bleed and as it’s applied via a snow canon it’s really easy to use.

Any kind of Buggy. Using slings opens up everything so much more. They take up no room and are easy to use, once you have learned how. You can get them right up to kindergarten first year of school size and they are still good (it’s like giving a piggy back but with out the throttling or dead arms. They are better than the ruck sack ones and when baby is small and on your front it is also really good for bonding with them.
A plus one to the IKEA chair. We have actually found a travel stair gate really useful but then it’s the same one through all our children and we now use it to stop our Puppy from going where we don’t want.

Thanks all. On reflection I have gone for the shorter one. The additional 10mm of adjustment swung it for me plus I won’t miss what I have never had interns of dropped seat height. Going the 50mm jump from my current one will feel like a huge difference anyway.

We have a 2010 2.0 DCI (diesel) +2 tekna as our second car and it’s comfy enough on long trips and has plenty of go. It helps that the tekna has all the bells and whistles they offered. Certainly not had any issues with it.

Having used overshoes commuting for a number of years before swapping to full winter boots I would say that the winter boots are so worth the price. Not only will they last longer but they are warmer and dryer by far. I used to find that the over shoes would leak after constant bending either that or split not to mention them leaking through the big holes in the bottom. With the bottom holes it seems as though the water would wick up wards and then on to the shoe.
The winter boots are warm and stay completely dry. I have a pair of Northwave raptor artic GTX ones. A tip as above make sure that you tights/trousers are on the out side of the cuff. This makes a huge difference to the water running down your legs getting in.

We have an actifry and use it for all sort of things including sausages which take about 10-12 mins and come out beautifully even. For things like scampi and the like we have a wire tray that fits in where the paddle normal goes. Highly recommend one.

I have the photos I took of them which does show both pedal threads. My concern is getting them back damaged when they weren’t.

I have Panaracer gravelking in 32 and max tubeless is 60psi. I run mine at 40-50psi which gives a comfy ride in 82kg ish.
I do find that at higher pressure sealed holes can start to leak again as the pressure goes up and when I do get punctures I notice the pressure will drop to 20 psi ish. This doesn’t make it Unrideable just feels a bit soft. Being able to get to my destination with out stopping when commuting is a god send.

I have the 42 bluemels with a raw flap on the front one. They fit well and are rattle free. I have 32mm tyres and they are a good fit with the mudguards there is enough space to stop any rubbing when they move but close enough to keep any spray to a minimum.
The raw flaps are great and are better then any i have had on an SKS mudguard before as they are longer plus you can adjust the fit yourself.

I’ve run tubeless on my computer for the last year and during that time I’ve covered 7000 odd miles with only 4/5 punctures total across both wheels. At least that is ones that where too big for the sealant to seal though in all cases they held enough once the pressure dropped and i could stop when convenient rather than straight away, I’m sure i have had a number of other ones as i have had a number of times found a soft tyre but to then gone on to hold the air. I do however run 32mm tyres at around 40psi as it is comfier on the poorer roads I ride on with no noticeable loss in speed that i can notice at least.

One easy way to spin over a Diesel engine is to take the glow plugs out. Spin it for a few seconds at a time.

Mine is also like this and I have had it since September. The post sticks out further than the mount. I gave up in the end though you could bodge something I’m sure.

I rn the shield tubeless with 32mm tyres at around 40psi. They are road wheels on a carbon framed flat bar road bike (giant fastroad) whilst I have hit potholes in the past (broke my ankle on one) that was with the old wheels. These have not seen anything worse than some cattle grids.
They were bought from Wiggle and to them who have said sorry spokes not covered.
They all broke within 5ish miles after the first one went. 2 are next to each other in the hub the other is further round.
I have had a closer look at them today and there is a thinly bit of thread left on the spoke but not much at all.
I’m going to look into the not fit for purpose route as when the third one went the rear wheel jammed up, fortunately i had just pulled on to my drive.
Thanks for confirming that you wouldn’t expect this from wheels 2 weeks old just used to ride on sealed surfaces.

To definitely the spokes as they have sheared where the threads end i.e. there are no threads left visible. I only saw that last one and there was a small amount of spoke left sticking out but we are talking mm.

The too many pies made me smile. Even with my rucksack on i doubt that the all up weight including the bike is over 100kg and if t s then its only just.

They are Prime stagiaire disc wheels, which have straight gauge spokes as far as I’m aware.
Ive been told that spokes aren’t covered by warranty and tough luck but no help swat so ever.

It’s the spoke its self. They all went within 5 miles fortunately the last one went as i got home as it became un-rideable at that point.

I have an SLX rear mech XT shifter running on NX cassette and chain. All works perfectly. I did find that the chain length recommendation from Shimano is slightly too long so I took one link out.

I ride to work 5 days a week with out eating as it makes me feel sick if i do that and the fact that i would need to get up earlier in order to have the time to eat, i leave at 6am. I also find that i need to leave at least 2 hours or more since last eating before riding home to stop the sick feeling. This does mean that some days i end up riding home having not had any lunch. I’ve not noticed if it has any effect on my but i have been doing it in the morning for over 10 years now.

Wiggle have not contacted me since i contacted them on Monday. IF i still haven’t heard anything from them by the end of today i will be requesting a full refund including the postage costs and that they arrange to pick up the wheels.
Complete lack of communication is what is pissing me off, i accept that mistakes can and do happen but it is how they respond to them that speaks volumes.

I am giving them a chance to sort it this doesn’t mean that i can’t find it annoying though or the fact that they can alter the description but not bother to contact me. The other department they were checking it with is the warehouse so in order to despatch over a weekend then they would need staff there.
I guess you never find anything annoying or frustrating.

Its more that have only found out what’s happening by chasing them. I had no reply to the email where i sent the pictures, t doesn’t take much to drop a quick reply stating that they had received them and were now looking into it i only got that when i chased on the live chat the next evening. I also feel that if you are going to run a business that will dispatch next day over the weekend (they state the cut of times to get it) that you really should have some sort of customer support as well.
I have had good service from them in the past but disappointed by it this time along with the fact that they have altered the product description.

It’s not a question of wrong bits the wheels won’t physical fit my frame the rear is too wide and I have we dropouts in both the frame and fork. They haven’t actually said that they will send anything only that they are checking the stock they have
The adapters I bought came from elsewhere so could only be returned as unwanted/miss ordered rather than anything else I would have to at least pay the postage to get them back.
It’s more the lack of communication and it’s been three days since I received the wheels.

Most cars must be less than 1.8m as my XC90 is 1.82m and its a lot higher than most cars.
All ferries I’ve been on have a high section which I’ve been in when having a roof box on.
If booking online just tick the over 1.8m high box.

Petrol engines produce more engine braking as they are pulling a vacuum when the throttle is closed. Diesel engines don’t do this when the throttle is closed. In a petrol you vary the amount of air entering the engine and the ECU supplies the fuel where as in a diesel you vary the amount of fuel you put in and the engine draws as much air as it needs. Diesel engines have a dedicated vacuum pump that creates the vacuum needed for the brakes. Diesels engines do produce engine braking just not as much.
As said above engine braking is used to control speed rather than actual bring it to a stop.

Works for me on NX chain and cassette. I went for a SLK mech with XT shifter in the end but could get the SLX pairing fro less than £80. Try Bike-discount.de for prices.

After my NX eagle rear mech was destroyed by a stick i decided to change to an SLX rear mech as it was much cheaper an i tend to prefer how Shimano feels. I decided to get a XT shifter for some of the additional features. I still have the Eagle chain 11-50 cassette and NX chainset. SO far i have ridden 100 miles like this and it works great and I definitely prefer how the shifting feels. The Shimano feels fast on both the up and down shifts and the clutch works better.

I have had my 1600 since last December and use it on my commuter bike. It is mounted to an out röntgen mount and has been on there since i got it. I use it for an hour each way since the clocks have changed and it will be like this till they change back at which point it will be just first thing for a while. Over the summer i only used it in poor weather and charge it occasionally. I don’t use it on full power but rather at the third back one as its bright enough fo the unlit roads but not so that it blinds others. I have used mine in below zero temps with no problems not sure of the actual but cold enough or ice to form in my bottle. The spread of light is great and i know mine will last at least 4 hours on that setting.

If you’re buying on t’Internet, you can reject them within 14 days under CCR without needing a reason or “money back guarantee” from them.

Encroma of 60 days no questions asked but you do need to send them back to the USA.
If any one is local to the Southampton area then I’m happy to meet and let you try mine.
They do show up on EBay from time to time.

You can also get a refund on the encroma ones as to if they are worth the extra i don’t know as they are the only ones I’ve tried. I was fortunate to be bought mine, not sure if i would get them if i was paying as there are plenty of other things i could spend the money on.

I have some of the encroma ones and they work by filtering out some of the band of red/green that overlap on colourblindness. They don’t work for everything but do make a difference for some. Some things were quite striking in the difference, i normally really struggle to see the difference between orange and green skittles with the glasses they are markedly different. Still cant see purple though.
Encroma have brought out strong protan ones since i got mine so they may work better.

I wasn’t a huge fan of #1 but #2 blew my socks off, so well written, really engaging, quiet dark themes dealt with, bit of a reflection on the modern world. Highly annoyed it basically finished in the middle of the book and I have to wait for #3!

I went back and re-read His Dark Materials trilogy after reading book of dust #2 as I was reminded how fab his writing is.

Just finished book 2. Not felt the desire to keep reading like that for a long time. Can’t wait for 3 and seeing how it develops.
Yet to watch the BBC adaptation as i sky+ it.

+ again for pollen filter. Not only can they get damp but the very thing they are defined to do can, when they get dirty/loaded also i have had leaves in mine.
The name that the car industry use i.e. pollen filter is incorrect as the primary function is to keep your condenser for the A/C clean not to keep pollen, which in terms of airborne particles are quite large. Without one you will find that the condenser blocks up and your fogging issue will return and get worse.

Personally I think that depending on where you are using the lights makes a huge difference. My commute is 2/3’s on unlit paths and roads with the other 1/3 on lit cycle paths so I use a solid front and rear light. I get those in urban areas using flashing lights but on unlit paths they are so hard to see past we’ll expect for the ones you can hardly see as the batteries have just about died. The low powered ones that are meant as be seen lights are fine, great even but high powered ones flashing in complete darkness is a big no for me.

Something that no one has mentioned so far is fear factor.
I had a bad crash riding home from work and basically shattered my ankle which resulted in surgery and over 3 months off work. My first few rides were very gentle on some of the new forest tracks and it took me a further 6 months to actually ride through the junction i had the accident on. I ended up having some therapy as i was suffering from PTSD which was effecting other things in my life. This helped a lot but even now i go through that junction slowly even if I don’t else where.
It reads to me that you panicked braked due to a subconscious fear of crashing which resulted in you crashing. I have had a number of panic moments even now and it is hard to overall your instincts to just stop yourself.
In short i would look at the possibility of getting some help with coping techniques as well as prefhaps doing some gentle rides where you are not trying to get anywhere and can do it either away form cars or on quite roads.

The new MTB i got in March has 1 x 12 on it. My last MTB was 2 x 10 (originally 3 x 10) and i was sceptical about going 1x for a number of reason. My commuter has 2 x10 on and something that i used to take for granted now annoys me is the huge jump when changing on the front (ok its more exaggerated on a 50/34). I had got used changing down a couple of gears when changing to the smaller chainring with out noticing that this is what i was doing to maintain a cadence i liked. With the 1 x 12 there is no need to do this as the changes up are of a decent gap.
On a side observation it is funny how things become normal, i was looking at old photos and thought how odd the 3 Chang rings look even the 2 look a bit funny where as i used to think that the 1x chainring look very odd and small.

I saw you yesterday doing it and we chatted about the bike. It does look really nice in the flesh and I would say that the photos don’t do the finish justice.
I ended up completing it in just under 10hrs riding 12 in total. The weather really was just about spot on for doing it, even the breeze was appreciated.

A question for those who have done/are doing this. At QE park do you follow the signed route over the hill or go through the middle of the park more or less following the blue route?
Nice going Poop i will say hi if i see you tomorrow.
