Yes, especially the Beta Band one. Yes you can.

Dunno, haven’t really noticed them rumbling but they’re very obviously slower than my 23c road tyres. Certainly an offroad tyre first and foremost.

Me again. Just had the Cross Wolves out for a sticky claggy ride in the southern Chilterns and they did just fine. In fact, they did better than any MTB mud tyre I’ve had out there. Cut through, dug in, and kept rolling. Didn’t pick up any clag either

I don’t have a benchmark against other CX tyres, because these are the first I’ve used, but I’ll be riding them a lot this winter based on today’s performance.

Seems quite a nice bike to have flytipped.

The cyclist is wearing a helmet camera as a matter of routine so one would think had experienced pretty much all that happens on our fine roads

But you can see everything he saw (save for a bit of eye deflection that the camera won’t account for). All I see on that video is a range rover going by, after a bit of other traffic. No front-running police car that I can see. The first sign of police is when they’re inches from his handlebars. It’s not like a fancy-arse range rover is particularly uncommon in London.

How would you know from the circumstances on the video that you’re in such a situation? I don’t get it.

On a lighter note, this is currently my favourite headcam video

I’d stay in the lane. He wasn’t exactly going slowly. If you go back in the bus lane you’re almost immediately arriving at arrows directing you into the right lane for a right turn. It’s safer than two lane changes, it’s a tiny inconvenience to any following London driver who’s going to encounter many bigger ones. It’s not my job as a cyclist to help drivers get to the back of traffic light queues quicker.

People are seriously saying this isn’t too close? Particularly given the significant acceleration also going on? And given that this is a head mounted camera, not an “end of left handlebar” or “left elbow” mounted camera.

I second what was said earlier. Please don’t drive near me.

oof, the evening before the Rapha Super Cross at Ally Pally.

Velomati’s rules are garbage. Everyone knows tyre logos should line up with wheel logos, not the valve

The bus lane doesn’t lead into a right turn lane

He seems to have deliberately cut in as close as possible to teach the cyclist a lesson for blocking his way for what I count as 6 seconds

This. It was a punishment pass

I run my camelbak tubeless. It saves several grams. Albeit I die of dehydration.

Anyway, I didn’t die. Didn’t go particularly fast either, judging by my Strava results, but I didn’t feel great on the bike, think I have a cold coming on. However, it was good fun, felt like having a brand new bike, and it really started to click towards the end, up through Sulham Woods.

Mine’s the 22″. It’s one of the few off-the-peg bikes that fits me.

If only there had been any other cases exposed recently of trial by media getting the facts wrong? Maybe one where people had unfounded, unproven accusations made against them then splashed all over the popular media, clearly stating it as THE TRUTH

    Or to put it differently

If only there had been other cases exposed recently where victims’ stories had been steadfastly ignored for decades, denying them their voice, while the popular media continued to ignore them and support/venerate the other parties involved.

is it just me or does that look like a Thomson post that is going to get hit by the shock?

Just adds to the suspiciousness of the ad… something like that makes me assume a tealeaf is shorter than an original owner.

Is there any reason one can’t just show up at a league event with a BC provision license, say hello, and race (badly)?

I end up being careful of things like standing on that leg on the bus as it stops sharply. It’s lateral forces like that that seem to make me most nervy.

A quick shot of those folding £10.99 CRC Cross Wolfs

    Absolute bargain.

I’ve had some out. It’s never quite the same again, but mine now seems to have stabilised a lot… I rarely get bad knee days now. Singlespeeding seems to help.

The future? Gawd knows. It’s there for a reason, so I guess one day I’ll most likely have bother.

I can never get why people chime in with “why now?” and “what purpose could it serve?”

There are a bunch of victims out there who have never had the truth told, for whatever reason. Maybe they were too scared, not believed, systematically discredited, or any combination of those things.

A perfectly good answer to “why bring this all out now” would, in my opinion, be “because it hasn’t happened yet”.

The same line was used about Hillsborough, the same answer applies.

How the hell do you expect them to do all that while also speaking on the phone, adjusting the radio, or checking their hair in the mirror? Heartless sod.

I am highly disappointed that you don’t have panniers. And beards. 😀

Joking aside, my other half is getting into cycling more and more, so maybe it’d be really good for us to tag along. What kind of range of experience/expertise tends to turn up?

Strava’s been useful just to chat to people who ride the same stuff (I live in West Reading, so Sulham/Pangbourne/Whitchurch/Woodcote/Mapledurham is my local patch).

I dunno what RATZ are up to these days… to my mind they always seemed a bit racing focused for my liking (this was an impression and might have been wrong).

Edit: http://www.ratmbc.co.uk/ is all about racing rather than social rides.

It does mean that all Strava KOMs are locked down until May, so if you’ve got any, then you can sit on them all winter 😀
