    Probably about £30-£50

It really is worth investing some time and getting your own tools an doing it yourself.

I was worried at first, but glad I managed to do it myself. Theres not much I would go to the LBS for now unless I needed a wheel building.

    LOL at onion.

Get a seal one in grey

As I said in my OP, I could but they are a bit boring, everyone has one, wanted something a bit different TBH.

I get a seal one as part of the package, but wanted to upgrade to something else.

it has been consistently above 3 degrees here in dundee, so Stirling must be similar? Snow is gradually melting here, maybe by the weekend it will be rideable.

if you go, give us an update please as I too am dying to get out, and interested to see the changes at CV.

I just changed from Panaracer Fire XC's to NN 2.1's and will never look back, so far they seem a great tyre even in the snow. Mine come in at 954g for a set so pretty light.

Thanks for all the advice Ill make a decision tonight.

the multiple best man idea is good, but weve kind of done it before. There was 3 of us, we had a brain wave during the church service that we should come bearing gifts like the 3 wise men and one of use had to run to the nearest tescos, we got them BOLD, frankfurters and Murr-malade!! (it got a laugh during the speech anyway!) :-)

I can vouch for Giro helmets, really comfy, with removable foam inserts, openable vents and removeable ear pads.

If you are going for the gnarly boarder baggy panted skier look then check out the Burton RED helmets.

    "pulls up chair"

Ive just convinced the missus that a 3rd "commuter" bike is a good idea as I seem to be wrecking my specialized Roubaix raod bike on my daily commute, skinny tyres are scary in the snow too.

I was thinking of getting a tourer or dare I say it a cyclo x bike.

edit: and I have a carbon hardtail which I definitely wont be using with this amount of salt and grit on the roads after my experience of delaminating my carbon seat stays on the road bike.

dab I wasnt having a pop at Ancrum, as I live locally and have used them on several occasions for biking courses, kayaking & navigation.

Hope they dont suffer as a result of that accident.

I just did exactly the same today, switched from BT broadband and phone to SKY, which all in was costing my £45/month, same package from Sky costs £33.

Will hopefully work out, we will see……………

I actually quite like the look of the "matt" carbon underneath, I may actually sand it all off, as it looks a bit patchy now.

My own fault for using my good road bike for commuting. I showed the other half and she "almost" agreed I should get a cheap bike for commuting, even better as my road bike wont accept panniers and my work has just started the bike to work scheme. :D

Fancied a challenge so I had a lovely ride in on my skinny tyred road bike this morning. Was a bit chilly though. Main roads are fine, but side streets and pavements are skating rinks.

Blue Skies and Sunshine now in Dundee. :D
