Yep sure does. The skewer threads through the ABP and wheel hub bit like a bolt through and screws into a cap on the cassette side. It then tightens up like a QR.

I find Metcheck’s forecast quite often just way off the mark. Us metoffice most of the time now which is more accurate.

llamabikes DOES look like a prime example of a fine MTB forum, I bet the people who frequent it are exceptionally awesome…..

I heard there’s this guy who rides a Trek Fuel EX, and one who rides a Giant something-or-other…the Fuel EX rider is amazing apparently…the Giant rider…meh, s’alright I s’pose ;-P

I ride 2.1s on my Scandal for winter riding around Derbyshire fields and woods. As Swadey says, can clog up in particularly sticky mud but otherwise I find them pretty good. Normally ride 2.1 Maxxis Advantages in the summer and find the 2.1 TRs narrow enough for my liking :-D

I’m hoping to have the stamina to stay up tonight, probably should’ve had a snooze this’avo too but just ‘had’ to finish my NBA season on Xbox today – might regret that decision later/in the morning

I think it’s supposedly something to do with making sure people get the right size bike for their needs, and making sure it’s set up correctly before it leaves the shop and is ridden.

I could be wrong though! :-)

Cheers Steve, might see how much the powdercoaters would charge and maybe get them to do it (then tell the missus it was all my own work to impress her and reap the rewards!)

Steve – the reason you managed to ride down Cavedale last weekend was because you were still pished from the night before!

But yeah agree, Homestead and Cheesehouse is nice

Another vote for Maxxis Advantages. Very good all-rounder just be aware of the sizing, 2.25s are huge so go for a 2.1″

My play bike. Currently gathering dust as I’m too much of a wuss to go street riding in the cold and dark (as Olly_Roberts will testify!) :(

Steve P – thanks for the heads up regarding the rear Pro 2 hub! Don’t suppose you could let me know what Hope say if they respond could ya? Cheers

I’ve had one for nearly a year now and I love mine! Not sure I’d agree with it having long top tube, although I’m not stubby in the arms department – I’m 5’8 and have a 17.5″ frame and it’s fine for me.

I’m always impressed at how well it climbs – on rocky technical stuff it always grips really well and even stamping down hard on road tarmac climbs, there almost no suspension bob at all. Downhill it’s just as good, I’d even go so far as to say it feels nearly as good as my old Kona Coiler did – very confidence inspiring!

Downsides – hardly any, however I’ve been a bit dissapointed with the longevity of the Bontrager hubs. They were ‘smooth as’ all summer but then did a (very) wet Peaks ride and the front seized up completely (although I know Peak mud is notorious for trashing components!). Replaced the front bearings and then one mildly wet weeekend in Betws Y Coed and a wet ride at Cannock and they were on their way out again :-( Am thinking I might replace the front hub at some point with a Hope Pro 2 when I can afford it.

Don’t let that put you off though, it really is a great bike and you definately wouldn’t regret getting one :D

GJP – can’t see your email addy in your profile for some reason…but if ya don’t mind I’ll give Thule a ring tomorrow and see what they say – FOC and new sounds ideal! Thanks for looking though, much appreciated (might give you a shout if their policy on spares has changed!) :-)

I’d be very interested to hear other people’s experiences of Pro 2 hubs also as I’m looking at replacing the stock Bontrager hubs on my Trek Fuel EX soon. The reason for this is because those are crap at keeping water and mud out and I figured it might save me money in the long run if I got Pro 2’s on instead, which I thought were more ‘weather-proof’?!
