I missed that STW and it doesn't seem to be in the routes section here – any route guides anywhere trailmonkey…or do we need to pay for your services!

Cheers Knottie that would be good ta. I think I did some of that route with Crispybacon (we started at Princetown headed to Burrator reservoir via the "Widowmaker" (I think it's called?) and then back via the old railway line.

Got an OS map so just need some ideas! :D

I've got a post running at the mo about cargo/longtails – several nice examples in there :-)

Stoner – any troubles with the Halfords child seat jobbie or has it attached fine and used without troubles?

Martinw – good choice on the Electra upgrade. Just looked at prices tho and that bike with the Xtracycle now comes in at over the £1K limit. Did you manage to speak nicely to your LBS to get it under the limit?

Big Dummy – guess you're right, it's not like you can go balls out on cargo bikes. Likewise tho, discs offer peace of mind when that BMW driver pulls out of a junction right in front of you on a downhill road lol!

Forgot to mention the Kona Ute. £650, 2010 version has discs front and back…wonder if a child seat would attach to that ok? Doesn't have the accessories of the Xtracycle but I think the snapdeck design might be a bit more 'open' now so a wider range of panniers would fit. Hmmm, looks good.

Cracking examples guys! Was looking all last eve through the Flikr galleries.

One thing that slightly concerns me is that I'd much prefer discs, and the Practical Cycle Townie conversion is has V brakes. I know Vees set up well would generally be fine even if quite heavily loaded, but much prefer the power of discs. Guess an option could be to replace the fork with a Kona P2 fork or similar although don't know if that would affect handling in any way?

Was also slightly concerned about flex in the frame/Xtracycle link but if Big Dummy (the Oracle!) says it's alright then that's good enough for me :-)

Stoner – is that the Xtracycle Peapod child seat?

Looks good mike! Really like the idea of being able to carry almost anything on em!

Am thinking the Electra cruiser with Free Radical from Practical Cycles isn't bad – similar to the Xtracycle Radish, the Mrs would be more likely to ride that one as well.

Have you got the little tool, kinda shaped like a question mark (?)? If the rims are like the stock Bonty Race rims that came on my Trek Fuel EX then you need that to undo the lock nut. I've only changed the front wheel bearings and not really looked at the back but I'd imagine there's a lock nut back there too?

    Don't think it's been said yet, so…

Slight hijack – I'm heading off to Afan next weekend with Stevethebarbarian, Olly and a few others and was planning on doing Skyline on the Saturday but am wondering if W2 would be better – any opinions?

Had my Fuel EX for 18 months, it's done both the English and Scottish coast to coasts, a few Wales trail centres, and has been hammered down Peak District descents, as well as plenty of local rides and the original pivot bearings are still going fine.

The wheel hub bearings on the other hand, are (or were) pants.

Not sure tbh. I did read over on AV Forums that there's a file manager app you can download which gives you the option to save apps to SD card, but haven't tried it yet myself.

Yeah the Expansys ones are white. Would've preferred black originally but am quite liking the white now I've got it! Guess it wouldn't be great for a mechanic(?)…but then again, is a touchscreen a good idea In that case??

I've had my Hero for a week, bought mine from Expansys on a 12 month contract on T-mobile, so is unlocked and unbranded. Really liking it so far particularly web browsing – infact am typing this from my Hero right now!

Nice looking trail Gav – I want a go!

Timmo – nothing like a nice bit of arsenic to go with your riding huh lol?! ;-) Ridden in Tehidy a fare few times, used to be some good little sections in there.

Sounds to me like we need a mini STW get together in the near future :-D

    FYI – I’m from/will return to the Camborne/Helston area.

Gavtheoldskater – finally got round to exploring that side a bit last and did a ride near Zennor. Found one or two nice remote bridleways but it was wetter than an otter’s pocket that day and got soaked! Might give you a shout sometime, maybe you could show me some cheeky stuff in the area?!

Crispybacon – haha, yeah that was a bit of a chilly ride but a good’un! Definately up for doing another Dartmoor explore again this summer. :-)

Delusional – if I still had me Coiler, I’d be up for tagging along – used to go and have a play around Poldice before I moved away which was good for that kinda stuff. Traded it in though for my Trek Fuel EX but still head over there on a long ride and give the down hill run a go! :-D

I really hope anyone who had bad experiences at the weekend are posting their constructive feedback on the Bikeradar forum or dropping them an email too?

(Not a dig at anyone btw, it’s just I’m sure the people who organised it would appreciate genuine feedback so things can be improved next year :-) )

Just got back, did the 12 hr enduro last night with Olly, Blackhound and Markenduro (we finished 5th in the teams! :D ). I agree with Brant, good range of stalls and cycling ‘genres’ catered for, nice burgers and great dual slalom and dirt jump events with the likes of Gee, Peaty, Minaar etc competing (dunno if Peaty did actually compete but he was around), and Danny MacAskill showing those amazing skills in the Trials area.

There did seem to be some issues with the enduro parking though, although we were lucky enough to get a pass into the car park…but then that’s Donnington for you!

I liked the XC course – considering the lack of height around Donnington it made the most of what was available…some nice swoopy singletrack, cheeky north shore if you were brave enough and off-camber sections to keep you focused. The field climbs were a bit of a drag though.
