Cheeky monkey – am based in south Cornwall (why do get the feeling more offers of help will come along now!).

What sort of size are the one's you've built?

    2008 Float 32 RL
Changed the oil once in the last two years. Still original seals.
Tend to store bike upside down when not in use.
No signs of stantion wear and no problems whatsoever.

Yeah is possible, my boss at my previous workplace got a Spesh Rockhopper from Leisure Lakes (Nottingham/Derby) via Halfords.

You can buy the QR15 lowers seperately and retrofit them from MOJO.

Not sure if you can retrofit to 2007 forks or not so best email them and ask.

My order was below £20 so added an inner tube which took over and it's gone through with the discount. 8O

Just tried placing an order myself and had the exact same thing.
Thought I was about to get away with it too!

Can't answer on the SRAM vs Shimano comparison, but I recently bought the SRAM PG980 cassette for £35 from CRC – Clicky

Got one in my Mule, it's a slight squeeze but does fit in ok. Much prefer the Deuter bladder to Camelbak due to the wide opening and mouthpiece cover. I've also found it's less prone to black gunk growing inside!

Sony Walkman series are very good. Come bundled with high quality earphones too which most other mp3 players forget about.

Yeah no worries mod – I looked on the forum rules when I saw it had been deleted and realised the error of my ways!

Thanks for the re-post West Kipper, very helpful insight. Despite the 20hr/week contract, I'd be looking to work full-time hours but anything more than that wouldn't be ideal with new family commitments. Might have a re-think!

+1 for Afan Lodge. Smack bang in the middle of the Afan and Glyncorrwg trails with the Sustrans route running past the bottom of the car park for riding straight to the trails. Bar and restaurant are both well stocked and there's a lounge area with comfy sofas where you can watch biking DVDs on the flat screen TV. Rooms are really nice and there's secure bike storage. The family that run it are really friendly too.

I'm off back there in a month, can't wait! :-)

Don't use ITunes but it's on the computer so quick question – is it possible to download and copy to a DVD for watching on DVD players etc?

I've not seen a single snow flake here in Cornwall, in fact this is currently the sunniest it's been all **** year!

Looking at exactly the same type of C2W option as the OP (also thinking about a longtail, but that's another story!).

Giant Seek 0 looks the best option for me, with a Roadrat second. Winstonsmith – have you got any pics of your Seek to post up? :-)

(Edit) Oh yeah, and take a look on the On One site, there's a new Pompino with disc tabs and Alfine-friendly dropout spacing on the horizon soon.

Back on the bike today for the first time in over a month due to the birth of my first daughter and a general reluctance to get out in the cr@ppy weather. Did 10 miles and I was knackered, legs felt like I was riding through treacle (actually it was so muddy in places, I might as well have been!), but felt really good to get out again. Gotta get back in shape as I'm off to Afan at the end of January, and I want to enjoy it!

I use My Tracks for bike (commuting) GPSing which is good for recording routes and stats.

I use CoPilot Live for sat nav. All the mapping is downloaded and saved on the SD card so there are no issues as to whether you have signal or not. It's not bad to be honest – well polished, plenty of options. Not quite as good as Tomtom but so much cheaper and well worth the money.

Google navigation is coming soon allegedly but that will require network connection.

Hey Peter. Ideally you need to try a bike before buying it as frame sizes can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, even for the 'same size'. I'm 5'8 and ride a 16" On One hardtail and a 17" Trek full suss so I'd say 17" or 18" would be ok, 19" would almost definately be too big IMHO. :-)

Not sure if there are any where u can pre-load map tiles tbh. There is OS Maps which is a paid for app for OS tiles but does need a data connection.

Back on topic!…a few of us stayed at Afan Lodge a month or so ago and I agree with you Postie, it's excellent – as every MTB accommodation should be. As you say, great service, great food, great accomodation and highly recommended :D

As mentioned, stronger than you'd expect the 717s. I used to land 7 foot drop offs (to transition) on a hardtail on a CRC built pair and they never troubled me. Great rims!

Derby City Council and Cornwall Council do.
Probably best to phone a council's switchboard and ask for their work's Green Travel Plan officer (if they have one) or just ask for the HR dept.

I've got an 08 EX8 – as Tracker says, the stock Jones XR's are great in the dry but as the tread pattern is low, they're rubbish for grip in British mud! Not sure what the grips are on the 09 model but the 08 bike had Bontrager grips which had harder rubber dimples and I didn't find them comfy.

I run with Lizard Skins 'Peaty' lock on grips and Maxxis ADvantage 2.1's now :-)

I bought a 205 early last year when they were going cheap in PC World…really nice bit of kit for recording rides together with the usual bike computer stuff (telling you speed, distance etc). I found battery life to pretty good, even lasted a 10 hour day during a Coast to Coast trip.

Only problem is, it recently developed a problem where it switches itself off on bumpy terrain. I'd get half way along a trail or down a section and find it had turned itself off, really annoying! I even put it on my commuter bike (Spesh Sirrus – 700C, narrow tyred) and even worn road surfaces are bumpby enough to turn it off :( Have looked on Garmin's web site for warranty info, and it'll cost me $70 plus taxes to send it to the USA to get fixed…really can't be ars*d with that tbh.

So basically, really good bike computer with GPS tracking essentially (it's not for navigation) but if you go for a second hand one, turn it on and give it a damn good shake before you hand yer cash over. :-)

I have a Hero and would definately recommend it! Has all the apps you need: I use My Tracks for GPS ride logging on the bike, although not used it off-road, only for commuting. There is OS Map which shows OS maps (funnily enough) and shows where you are. Don't think you can plot or track routes on it though. I also have Grid Reference which simply shows the OS grid reference of your location – this came in handy last weekend when I wasn't quite sure where I was on Dartmoor, and it told me exactly where I was.

Web browsing is great (am using my PC a lot less now)…5mp camera is ok (although my Nokia N82 3mp was better)…GPS tracking can be done via Google Latitude…music player isn't bad, although no equalizer/sound adjustment – I also use BeyondPod which is great for downloading and listening to podcasts…calender easily and automatically syncs with Google Calendar – as does your phone book.

You can also import contacts (photos and birthdays) from Facebook and photos from Flikr. There is a decent Twitter application.

Other apps I have = Beebplayer (BBC Iplayer), Compass, Google Sky Map (tells you what stars and constellations are up there as you point at them), Last FM, PDF viewer, Quickoffice (for viewing Microsoft Office docs) and several others. Also bought Co-Pilot Live sat nav which is very good.

My phone was only slightly laggy when it first came out but HTC quickly brought out a firmware update and it's smooth as butter now.

Was contemplating the Iphone before I bought this, but so glad I didn't! Much cheaper, can multi-task, does the same things as the Iphone and software development is more open, plus plenty of free apps on Google Market.
