3rd Dyfi for me and enjoyed it as always! My only gripe was, although the new Rocky Horror descent was awesome, that long fire road descent after was a crime. Unless there was a reason not to, I would’ve thought at least we could’ve been directed onto the second half of the slate descent, which the last two years comes after the short flat fire road section, after the first descent off the moorland?

Oh and actually, also I don’t think the singletrack descent after the initial long fireroad climb (just after passing the band playing at the top) was a wise idea as people hadn’t spread out enough by then which led to a stationary traffic jam when we got there for a good couple of minutes.

Like I said though, good event as always (and that free beer was SOO needed at the end!).

A nice curry and a few beers.
I find that ensures an early morning shit which makes for less bulk to carry in the ride

That just reminded me to pack a bog roll for Dyfi this weekend, nearly forgot! 8O

I’ve carried a spare one for the entire 3 years I’ve had my EX8 but only recently realised I needed a separate tool to fit it. Thankfully i’ve not been in the middle of nowhere with a broken hanger only to realise then!

I normally run 2.1 Maxxis ADvantages all year but have just put a 2.25 Maxxis Aspen on the rear and am impressed with it so far. Had bought a 2.1 Aspen initially but aesthetically it was too narrow for my liking…so if you want a 2.1 Aspen I have one for sale!

Bought a merino wool T from Finesterre last week and been wearing it riding into work this week – seems good so far, bit on the thin side so good for summer commutes and seems to wick well. Plus they’re local to me (Cornwall) so feels like I’m supporting a local business :D

I had that for the first time in ages yesterday riding home. I just flicked the V’s and carried on safe in the knowledge that they were n0bs and I was having fun :D

Yeah I’m on the CFR FB group – would love to tag along with their weekly evening ride but having a 16 month old daughter means I need to be home to put her to bed. Likewise, it’s difficult for me to commit to regular weekend rides with them or Cornwall MTB or the Trailriders due to family commitments so just looking for some folks to hook up with for the odd ride every now an again.

Slight hijack (sorry OP) – I live nearish to Helston (near Praze) and could do with hooking up with some folk for some informal local rides at the weekends as I’m getting bored of riding on my own lately!

Anyone fancy meeting up? Email is in profile if anyone wants to sort something :-)

    I’ve got a 2008 EX8.
Great bikes, riding all day on them isn’t a problem (I’ve done both English and Scottish coast-to-coasts on mine)
130mm travel up front, 120mm rear.
    Mine weighs about 28lbs.

You won’t regret having one :-)

Did you actually need to take the wheelie bin somewhere or were you just proving a point?

    Bit of both tbh!

I live down a farm lane so it’s about 150m up to the road where they collect the bins. To be honest, by the time it took to strap it on securely it was just as quick to walk it up to the road instead! Still, just goes to show what you stick on the back of cargo bike :-)

The Ute is a nice bike but not really for distance commuting in it’s stock form as it’s 37lbs-ish in weight with an upright riding position. You could stick a long stem and flat handlebars on to make it more comfortable for distances but it’s still heavy for a 24 mile round trip.

I use mine for fun :D

Send/take it back, any bit of clothing should last more than 2 rides.
Been looking at these myself for DH riding so would be interested to hear what you get back.

Just to resurect an old thread – how do 2.25 Crossmarks size up compared to 2.1 ADvantages. Thinking of getting a Crossmark on the back of my EX8 for the summer and keeping an ADvantage up front.

Saw this one recently which is nice (I assume someone’s already posted it up on STW somewhere)

Cannock is good for a blast, though I’ve not ridden the Monkey since it opened, but if you’ve got woodland riding near you at home and don’t have any BMX tracks near you, I’d make the most of it and ride the Alvaston track.

Rode Brechfa for the first time last weekend and think I might have to agree. It didn’t necessarily help having ridden a very short version of Skyline and all of W2 at Afan the two days before but the first proper climb and then the big one half way round on the Raven nearly did me in!

Root the phone using UnRevoked then you’ll be able to move way more apps to the SD, even ones that A2SD on an unrooted phone can’t shift. Search the XDA or Phandroid forum for the UnRevoked method, it’s really easy.

Have to admit I didn’t realise it was that time of the month again! No sign of mine (3rd late month in a row I think) in Cornwall but I’m patient :-)

Ms orena45 used to go out with comedian Richard Herring.
She also may be distantly related to Michael Jackson’s kids.

    I’m tenuously connected to Orena45.

I’m a distant cousin to Priscilla Presley (wife of Elvis) and mother to Lisa Marie (ex-wife of Michael Jackson)

    We’re practically related then

We moved into a new build last year which had been continuously delayed for nearly 12 months so when we finally got to moving in, we got BT to sort come and connect us with our new randomly assigned phone number. The number they assigned us was the exact same phone number that was my Gran’s who died a couple of years previously! Still occassionaly get phonecalls for her from salesfolk which is always a bit weird.

The closest I get to a claim to fame is that Stephen Fry follows me on Twitter…but then he does also follow 50,000 others as well!

Plenty of topics on Android phones – the search button is your friend :-)

FWIW I have an HTC Desire which is awesome – does everything an Iphone does, is more customisable and cheaper.

Ms orena45 trained as a midwife at St Thomas’s in that there London – got 90% of the way through and then quit as she got fed up with the stress and the way things are run (targets and rules etc that are there in the interests of the hospital/managerial staff and not in the interests of the mothers and babies).

She now runs her own business teaching parents-to-be about natural birthing techniques and empowering them to have the birth they want and not what they are told they can have. She’s much happier :-)

She has issues with the way things are run managerially and culturally within the NHS, and not the midwives themselves. She’d love to be a midwife if things were different I think).

Not entirely sure what you mean as they’re sort of one and the same really. Your contacts will all sync with Gmail and any other Google apps will get contact data from there.

I wouldn’t even bother with a chain device to start with. Take the big ring off and put a bash guard on and then shorten your chain to take up the slack. That’s what I did on my MmmBop which I rode last week for my first DH race and had no probs with the chain jumping off. Other than that, what Realman and Oxboy said – just go out and have fun!

In my previous work place in Derby, we had a wall of shame of similar parking efforts we’d seen around the city. Our ‘best’ one was of a Police van parked in and completely blocking a segregated 2-way cycle lane (the one on Exeter Bridge if you know Derby).
