My X5 came yesterday and just put it together. Minor issue in that the thread for one of the support wing bolt holes hasn’t been threaded cleanly, so can only screw 3 of the 4 bolts in at the moment. Seems to be a bit of swarf in the thread so will see if I can file it out or something. Looks good otherwise. Downloaded the app and firmware upgraded without a problem too.

Just waiting for a cassette to arrive and then can try it out this weekend

Same here…on Android, getting logged out regularly the last day or two. Cache and cookies cleared but no change.

Any reason that it had to be new? I bought a Tacx Flux S from Ebay.

For the warranty mostly but also as I’d be wanging it on the credit card to pay off over in a couple of chunks in the new year. I guess Ebay is an option funded via Paypal/cc though…rarley use Ebay so hadn’t even considered it tbf !

I’ve got an X5 and have no complaints. It’s the first smart trainer I’ve used so I can’t compare it to the more expensive stuff but it set up and connected easily to my phone and Zwift which is all I can ask.

Sounds promising. Read a BikeRadar review which mentioned it felt a bit top heavy for out of saddle sprinting, especially with the built-in 8 degree side-to-side swing. Have you found that to be the case?

Zwift are selling rebadged Volt smart turbos for ~£450, numerous issues reported on forum about arriving dead or dead after firmware updates.

Yeah, had been looking at that one but out of stock. Interesting to hear about the problems though. Looked up the Volt but nothing within my budget.

Very good. Has a removable internal sleeve with pockets for various bits plus a couple of other internal pockets. Pretty much the only backpack I could find that would take my 17″ work laptop in the sleeve and carries that weight together with change of clothes pretty well

Been on Kryptotal enduro F&R on my enduro bike for a couple of months and loving them. Tempted to go for that endurance Argotal for the front of my hardtail for winter, but kinda holding out for the enduro version to be available, so I can swap it over to the enduro bike when needed.

I quit FB and Insta a couple of months ago and now just on Vero. Not a place for discussions but great for nice photography (been an influx of photographers fed up with Insta lately).

No adverts, no algorithms and actually a friendly place to be. But yeah, more of an Insta/FB alternative rather than Twitter though

My wife used to teach accountancy amongst other things and pretty much knows what is going in and out of our accounts on a minute by minute basis.

And she doesn’t ride bikes.

A new bike typically involves something akin to a full blown election campaign crossed with a five year war strategy, several weeks of sulking, interspersed with arguments.

There is literally nothing that she spends money on just for herself that I can compare it to.

Ha, this is my wife also! Except she’s not an accountant….just her main ‘hobby’ is being a ‘moneysavingexpert’ – which inevitably means that she doesn’t spend money :-/

It’s on the local BBC news pages today for Devon and Cornwall regarding the 15-20% reservoir levels and hose pipe ban still being in place.

Easy for people to forget the drought as it feels like it’s rained to some degree most days since the ban was announced, in my part of Cornwall at least, and people have short memories!

I used to live watching it on Channel 4 on Saturday mornings but have no idea where to watch it now? I don’t have Sky.

I watched several early-start Magic games live last season via the NBA Access subscription on the NBA app. They did a 3 game pass for about a fiver, which was perfect if there were a few early-starting games over the period of a month, as you could just dip in and watch a few live games cheaply without committing to a whole month subscription, and not have too much of a late night! Unfortunately, they’ve got rid of that option for this season, so it’s now pay for each game individually (for a fiver I think), or go for a monthly or season pass.

Back protector and chest plate are removable so works as a decent light base layer too and is easily washable. Has a couple of rear pockets on either side of the back protector, which although a little higher than I would like, are good for smartphone/multitool/cereal bars.

Zips up the side so easy to put on and remove as well.

Ah interesting about the Valleys Series. Saw something about it on FB before I quit it recently but good to see some brand new race venues.

After years of loving racing, I haven’t bothered this year as the love kinda disappeared. Mostly down to my local race mates not being particularly bothered but I think also because the last few years, we’ve been racing the same events/venues (OK, Covid had a big factor in that I know). That…and the overall cost of attending a race weekend from Cornwall means a lot of races have increasingly becoming too expensive to bother with for us. Really appreciated Scott F running a Southern Enduro round at Newnham Park a few weeks ago however, and I’m now thinking I might do a few races again next year. The Valleys one has potential – new venues to ride/race is always a winner

Ah mine stopped working as soon as I applied the Samsung supplied minuteone screen protector, however it’s the first phone I have with face recognition and that trump’s it anyway!

TBF actually yeah I do have a screen protector on which likely reduces the sensitivity of the sensor. Agree, the face recognition is really good.

Samsung S22 (basic not the two posher ones) is impressively compact. It’s smaller than my old Pixel 3a

Recently made the same change and can recommend the S22. Apart from the fingerprint sensor being a bit fussy with screen smudges, it’s great. Samsung were doing a guaranteed £200 trade-in (£150 now) for any old smartphone. I traded in an old Motorola, which would only have got £20 or so in ‘the market’, and got the full discount!

Needed a new larger helmet for winter…a Troy Lee Designs A1 for £11 will do nicely. Ta for the PSA!
