I’m taking part. Heading up tomorrow and dropping in on the Steve Peat Bike Bonanza ride at Ashton Court, then onwards to the campsite.

Looking forward to the first race of the season, but training has been a nightmare recently with house-move prep and a seriously unlucky run of consecutive ride ending mechanicals  Am hoping all the bad luck is out of the way now and I can get some good riding in for once!

Mine did the same when I had it. The stand could have done with being wider definitely

Get the Tippex out and write ‘First ride’ on the sidewall…people will think you’re pro

Ordered a large for my 58cm head this week (also before seeing this thread) but was too big so have returned it for a medium.

Was intending on getting a Bell Super 2r but the medium I tried in the LBS was too small and the large Super was too big.

    The Parachute is nicer IMHO.

Lanhydrock is a bit more DH orientated, at least on the two more difficult trails.

It’s not DH orientated…unless by that you mean the trails are orientated down the hill. It’s certainly not full face and pads ‘DH’ (although the duel track is arguably closest to that sort of definition).

The most I’ve travelled is about 150 miles each way for the Mondraker Gravity Rally (although I’ve done the Dyfi enduro 5 times which is 300 miles…but that’s not a ‘race’).

This year I’m racing the UKGE series, and being down in Cornwall means 494 miles up to Ae Forest and then same again back, not to mention 454 up to Hamsterly and 410 to Grizedale. I’ve worked out this year, I’m driving an extra 4242 miles just to get to and from UKGE races 8O

Ah cheers Steve. Still rocking your old Sunline bars…I don’t bother swapping grips over so plastic will be fine.

Yep, ally bars. Carbons would be awesome but out of my price range at the moment.

Half Nelson’s are sounding good as are those Spesh ones. Not wanting to spend any more than around £15 so they seem to suit my needs.

Not raced any UKGE rounds before. Will be doing all + and probably National Champs this year which is going to cost a bomb in petrol (coming from Cornwall) but really looking forward to it.

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago with a few mates. Really nice and clean bunkhouse and a good pub/restaurant across the road too.

@kimbers – The Mondraker Exmoor enduro is not on this year as the National Trust estate has new management so the organisers are given them time to settle in according to their Facebook page. They hope to have it back in 2016 so fingers crossed

100% fine home water birth with our little one here. My partner trained as a miidwife and now teaches hypnobirthing, promotes home birth and sells home birth products online so was fully aware of the benefits and potential issues that could arise, and put at ease in my mind the typical questions being put up here, like “why, surely in hospital its safer?!” (No, not necessarily).

We hired a private midwife as well which was not cheap but worth it as she was there the whole time, listened to what my partner wanted and only needed to give a little assistance right at the end. She even cleaned up afterwards whilst we spent those precious first few hours chilling out with the new arrival.

Search Farcebook for Department 26 (local MTB group). They should be able to help out

Don’t EWS, helmet-wise,go by the rules of that country’s national series/ruling body? Therefore as UKGE didn’t insist on full-facers, it wasn’t a requirement for EWS.

Will obviously be different this coming year…

I’ve got the IXS Trail. Nice helmet, looks good, retention system is good. Only issue for me is that my head is right between the sizing (58cm round head). The small/medium wouldn’t fit on my head at all so have the large which only just cinches down small enough to not wobble too much. At the moment, riding with a buff on it’s not an issue but it’s only just not too wobbly without.

Mondraker Gravity Rally (enduro) on Exmoor is a great event. Probably in July next year I should imagine.

Ask on the STW equivalent for roads – roadnerds.com*. There’s currently a discussion on most remote petrol station which might help!

*it’s not actually called that

Had Lollipop on my 2012 N7 for a few days after the OTA install and it’s fine (I did do a factory reset straight after).

The Facebook app is laggy as hell though so a lot of issues for some could be down to non-optimised apps or something?

Commencal Meta V4 (150mm AM or 120mm Trail) is due out soon and looks good value throughout the range.

Or, Bird Aeris is stonking value though only taking pre-orders at the moment.

Thinking I might get a new full suss next year, and these two are the top of my list at the moment.

Yep, weights are pretty much as claimed. Swapped the stock Shimano M475 hub/Alex Rims wheels and cheap cassette on my CdF for these and an XT cassette and lost 2 lbs in weight. :D

Trailmunki has good bikes but you can only ride them on site i.e. Cardinham

Edit: Worth getting in contact with Alex @ Trailmunki though as he might be able to advise somewhere else if you want an unrestricted-location hire.

34th for me, was 24th after the first two stages but nearly lost my way on Stage 3 (before the fire road link) and had an off on the Stage 5 on the marbles!

Enjoyed the Cann Woods stage a lot, had ridden most of the stages before back in the winter series, but it was a mudfest then so rode very differently this time.

Ah gutted I missed the prize draw! We didn’t want to hang around too long after so headed off. We never win anything anyway…but looks like we should be stayed!

Had a great weekend…trails were so fast :-)

Did anyone not manage to 2 wheel drift the whole way down the Plymbridge stage?!…like riding on marbles that one!

Wish they’d hurry up and get the results uploaded as we left once we’d finished so didn’t hang around.

I’ve only ridden Newnham in the CoD rounds but it’s not rocky, maybe a bit rooty in places. Not a huge amount of climbing (well, not compared to the Exmoor round).
