Basically, the main A road through Bodmin is having to be closed (in stages) to construct the improvements. Inevitably, this will inconvenience locals getting in and out of town due to the congestion and local businesses are worried about losing trade.

On the plus side, the new Bikepark Cornwall project posted up on their FB page yesterday that they have found a location near Cardinham/Lanhydrock and are now seeking crowdfunding to put together a feasibility report.

Yep, I’m in. First race since Ard Rock, which feels like ages ago now!

Uh? Minnaar’s one at least 3 times in the last two years and Josh at least once. (Quick Google) The 650b V10 came out mid 2014 – Josh Bryceland’s winning year – can’t remember but I’m sure he raced the last half of the season on 650b. (Edit: can’t remember if won in the second half or not either admittedly)

Bit of a thread resurrection, but I’m currently on my 3rd pair in the space of a couple of months after the first two had issues. Giving them one last chance but I won’t be surprised if they fail again. 🙁

I did the torrential rain-hit Afan round earlier in the year.

Despite the horrendous weather and puncturefest ( race report ), I liked the format….short loop, have as many goes on the 3 or 4 stages as you like with only the fastest time counting towards your overall time; chilled out and you can do the stages in any order you like so if there’s a queue, you can come back to it. Good particularly if you’re new to enduro racing or are trying to pursuade non-racer mates to come.

Would I do another WGES?…not sure. I might be wrong but I think it’s all purely existing trail centre trails, which to be fair is in many ways perfect for a winter series as the weather won’t really affect things, but, you are paying to ride (albeit race) trails you can normally ride for free.

I have to take both wheels off my Orbea Rallon (160mm fork, wide bars and 650b) and push the front passenger seat full forward with the back tilted forward to get mine in.

Got a roof rack now so it’s less faff these days!

Started my blog at the beginning of the year – https://orena45blog.wordpress.com …race reports, rides and reviews type thing.

Gives me something to do when I’m not riding 🙂

Shouldn’t be bottoming out on relatively small drops with HS compression on max like that…unless you’re a big unit?!?

Mine does use a lot of the travel on bigger hits, as it should/I want but doesn’t bottom out, although I am light. If it’s a new frame, might be worth taking it back.

Get your dealer to actually check (if they haven’t). When I bought a Ute a few years ago it only came with one pannier but I could order and buy a second one from Kona, which I did.

The US Kona web shop has them (although out of stock atm), so the dealer should be able to get them on back order I should think.

How about a shop display Genesis High Latitude for £900?

Slack, 1×11, dropper post, decent fork, Maxxis Exo tyres…stonking price.

They’ve also got new ones for just over a grand.

I’m seriously VERY tempted to get the shop display one, but I really can’t afford it at the moment, so please buy it and make the decision for me before I get in trouble at home!

It’s never come out on my disc CX bike but it has worked itself loose several times. Have to make sure it’s done up super tight.

I’d rather have a closed drop out like Cotic do for piece of mind but it’s not worth changing the bike as I love everything else about it.

Yep, just left mine alone/unconnected. No reason to do anything else.

Who gives a shat what others think. If you want it, prefer the extra protection and don’t mind it being warmer than a ‘standard’ trail lid, then go for it.

One head. Protect it as you see fit 🙂

    Cheers!

Orena45 – does the skyline feel less sweaty with it being lower down, or just the same as a normal pack?

I find it less sweaty yeah, but it’s still hugging your lower back so ultimately still gets warm under there. Bit more air circulation higher up your back though which is good.

Finished 38th in Masters on Sunday’s race (20:02:39). Got held up a few times but no biggie…had a lot of fun overtaking when I could, and good to ride with mates down the stages together.

Loved every one of the stages, all had something a bit different. The wind was most heinous otherwise was was a cracking weekend – well worth the 7 hour drive back to Cornwall after!

    ^^ Good review, thanks

Is the Osprey’s hydration better integrated than the Skyline?

    No problem, cheers! 😀

Not sure by what you mean by ‘integrated’, but the bladder in the Skyline is easy to access and remove, particularly as the hose unclips from it so no need to faff with threading the hose through every time. My Osprey Raptor is a few years old now and was much better than my previous MULE, but prefer the Skyline to the Osprey now definitely.

Nice shoes but a reliability question over the lacing system.

I wonder why they haven’t gone with the split chainstay like on the Four and the new Six? Definitely think it looks better split.

I do like the new shaping on the frames now..

Replaced my Nexus 5 with a Nexus 5X. Was very happy with the 5 and the 5X is essentially the same just a little bigger outside (not noticeably much) and updated on the inside. Very happy with it.

I was staying in Porthtowan a couple of weeks ago, there’s a trail, mostly offroad that goes from Portreath on the North coast to Devoran on the South. It was OK on the CX bike

Aye, check out the Mineral Tramways trails in this area (my local area). Good gravel bike type routes that you could link together.

Cotic fan boy, love steel hardtails.

Flare looks amazing, but in the back of my head there is a little voice saying why steel full suss, the beauty of the HT is that ‘spring’ but in a full susser there’s linkage, shock etc.

Someone tell me steel full suss is amazing because.

Let Cy answer that for you (although it’d be interesting to hear his thoughts now on steel for short travel frames)

I don’t do XC but I’ve seen XCO written down for normal XC racing as opposed to XCE for XC Eliminator so put that. If it stands for Olympic, I’d better change it!

Edit: I’ve only referred to it as XCO here for some reason, ha! Scratch that and replace it with XC 😳

Ha yeah, maybe! It was invite only and ‘don’t be a d*ck’ was clearly emphasised. All ran smoothly so a testament to the organisers and the riders 😀

Just got a Cuda CP20 for my daughter. It’s a nicely put together bike and light too – Cuda Bike Performance range.

I will add that I know the designer – but that’s partly why I bought it as she’s an ex top level BMXer and now works with kids promoting cycling and BMXing so she’s knows her stuff.
