Dakine and Royal Racing do some nice long sleeve technical riding technical t-shirts and aren’t too pricey.

Pearl Izumi are also worth a look too.

What was the Tomohawk like? I’m thinking of getting on to replace the HR2 on the back because I want a faster rolling tyre

Lyrically, 2Pac’s ‘Hit em up’ diss of Biggie Smalls and Bad Boy Records is savage. You may sense his anger towards the end of the track…!

    That chap at 4.27 tho… 😎

Glad to hear you got your bike back Kimbers…the one that was stolen or a replacement?

Wasn’t planning on doing UKGE this year as I can’t afford 5x 3 or 4 day weekends…wish I could do Inners as it sounds fun. If Ae doesn’t happen and ends up at the back up option in the southwest, I’ll be there!

However cool points need to be deducted for the use of hand guards!

I’ve got to admit, I would quite like those handguards on my bike – my local trails are mostly bordered by gorse and barely a spring/summer ride goes by without me having to extract multiple thorns out of my hands afterwards, and sometimes it takes days to get the buggers out.  Handguards would be a massive benefit…if they weren’t fifty odd quid a pair, I’d have them.

And that’s partly because Sam Hill makes them cooler.

    Not cool. But cooler!

Rad8 MTB Glasses are worth a look….prescription lenses with photochromic (transitions) and anti-fog coating.

    Cheers @marksnook.

Fortunately my bike just about held off the cold, though the Reverb was getting progressively slower as was rebound on my fork and shock!  Saw a few broken droppers and frozen mechs around so you weren’t the only one if that’s any consolation!

The marshalls deserve a massive amount of respect for standing out in that for 4 hours!

Balls. And the new Kona gone too 😖

How’d everyone get on? Didn’t quite go according to plan for me but still had fun. Brrr….It was so cold though!

How about a stash vest as an alternative, like the Race Face one or Alpinestars Paragon vest?

Gonna turn up in the morning do a few practice runs before lunch (maybe even sneak in a PAYG uplift or two to save the legs if I can ha!) and then at least a couple of race runs of each I reckon.

Question is…how many layers?!… forecast looks bloody cold!

    I’ll be there!

Not quite so keen on the 1pm – 5pm timed runs slot instead of the usual 10am – 3pm as I’ll be heading straight back to Cornwall after but looking forward to it.

Only been to BPW a couple times before but never ridden the trails we’re racing so should be fun.

Worth having a look at Fiverr for logo design. Not free but for a few quid you can get a custom logo designed. I used it for my blog logo.

    Check out Rad8 MTB Glasses.

Got the 502 and 504 frames with photochromic, anti-fog lenses and they’re both excellent. The new 504 Mudhugger, which I’ve also got, has a new and improved anti-fog coating and after a month or so of everyday use, I’ve had zero fogging so far.

Review of the 502 on my blog.

@pottersmtber ah sorry, missed that you mentioned MTB Strap On.

He had been testing an integrated pouch but I believe it had a tendancy to flop about on bigger sizes. And no one likes a large strap on to be flopping about willy nilly.  Not sure if he’s still working on it or not now.

There’s a few good ones of me more recently up on my Instagram feed but I haven’t figured out how to embed Instagram pics yet…but have always liked this shot from UKGE 2015 at Hamsterley…think it’s the colours. I like bright colours 😎

Had been considering it this year and wanted to support the UKGE return, but I just cant commit to five 3 or 4 day weekends with the other races I’m doing and family holidays this year taking up valuable leave.

Hope the turnout is good this year and maybe I can do it next year.

Some good riding, coastal singletrack is great. As above, most walkers don’t mind…just be polite and keep it outside of peak times.

MTB, road, gravel all good. 🙂

Best pasties are either Horse and Jockey in Helston/Porthleven (massive beggers!) or Malcolm Barnecutt. Word.

Links to local groups, shops, ride spots on my blog 😁

Take a look at Rad8 MTB Glasses if you’re after some photochromic glasses. Been using the 502 for the last year and are my go-to glasses for day and night commutes and general riding about. Lenses are practically clear out of UV light. The 504 frames are different styling but same spec lenses although the new Mudhugger spec errrr…specs, have a new, quicker reacting lense. Good price too.

Ah, interesting to hear about the remote’s being replaced quickly and easily.

Are these older lights so you’ve gone direct to Exposure rather than lights still under warranty where you normally need to go back to the place of purchase? Bought a Strada 1000 a couple of months ago and the remote has stopped working recently but was going to wait til the spring time as I presume I’d need to send the whole unit back to the shop for them to sort, so would be without a light for a week or two.

Ran a Tomahawk DD through the summer, really didn’t notice the extra weight at all. I’ll always run a DD out back from now on for the extra security.

I like the pearls! I assume the base is rubbery rather than plasic?

It is rubbery though not 5.10/Vibram levels of super soft grip. The official description mentions ‘carbon rubber’ which to me gives the impression of it being hard, but it’s grippy enough on rocks. Not the chunkiest of tread so if you need to push up soft mud climbs regularly, you might want something with a meatier tread.

Check out my race report from the Southern Champs earlier in the year.

There was one proper steep stage but it was awesome…and the dirt was soft if you did come off 😉

Also did round 1 of the series at Okeford Bike Park (race report) which was good also.
