Have got a frame bag, pods etc for Gbike, perfect for long rides.

Recently bought  a cheap Chinese bumbag to try ( before I buy a good-un) and much prefer it for shorter/half day rides. Easy access to stuff EG no need to take backpack off to get kit, can just swizzle the bumbag around to the front, remove kit, carry on riding.

I soak chains in white spirit and mix white spirit with fairy liquid type soap to clean rings with a brush.

after soaking the chain I keep the WS in a jar and the gunk eventually sinks to the bottom so most of it can be used again

After having 2 bikes stolen from my garage in the last house I,,,,,,

made my own ground anchor out of a 4 foot length of 4 inch box section steel. Splayed the end and broke out/concreted it into the garage slab. Easy enough to cut holes in it to feed chains through (if you have right tools) beauty of this was the chains would be kept off the floor and harder to cut with crops.

Been a welder fabricator in the past, made a cage out of 10mm re-bar mesh ( the stuff they use to reinforce concrete slabs) but was awkward to use, bad design/could have made it better.

i just keep the bikes in the spare room now ( new house)

Yaris will be getting a full strip down When new seal kit arrives, 2 years old and never touched them.

minion SS rear will be getting changed when I decide what new tyre to replace it with.

Everything with bearings are hope so not worried about those bits.

    GBIKE, Raleigh Mustang

Full strip down when I get time. just installed new gear cable, tubeless sealant needs changing. Chain and rings will be changed after the winter gloop has gone.

    Haha,

love idles, joe talbots voice, lyrics and the energy they have is just ace.

went watching ‘the chats’ on Monday night at Manchester academy. First punk band I have watched live in a long time. As it was on a school night I thought I would just loiter at the bar and have a quiet night.

Woke up with Sprained ankle, lumps and bruises and a hangover😁

seems I’m to old for the mosh pit as well (45).

30 years ago i bullied a couple of lads and girls at high school. I’m not a nasty person, never have been.

Looking back I was just following the crowd and think I was trying to prove something to myself,,, maybe a way of building selfconfidence to cancel out my oppressive/aggressive father.

one thing I will say is, one of the lads I bullied was a small slightly built, quiet, glasses wearing, clever, teachers pet type. He was bullied by everybody, relentlessly

A fight was arranged after school and after taking a couple of punches he absolutely lost it and had to be dragged off his aggressor after knocking fk out of him.

nobody bullied him for the last year of school out of respect.

as soon as my son is old enough he will be attending Thai boxing classes and I will be trying to teach him the balance between respect for others and not giving a fk about what others think of him ( if that makes sense)

    Terrene Elwood 40s (measure 43/44)

ace tire. Slightly slower than the 35mm g-ones they replaced, less punctures and tear proof had them 12mnths and no regrets.

    went up tubeless no probs.

guitar ted rates them highly (www. riding-gravel)

got the tough versions from on-one for £15ish each just to try. Then bought another set 👍. Think they have some left but price has increased.

tried alpkit bombers for my first cheap introduction to flared DBs. Very uncomfortable and couldn’t get them anywhere near useable but found flares much better for control and powering up/over/down ruffstuff. Got some ritchey  venture max recently and they are brill. The powerbulge in the drops works well for me with less fatigue when death gripping.

went for the 46m as my shoulder bones measure 44cm, they are WIDE and look daft but very comfy for me.

i ‘think’ they’re very similar to cowchippera but easy to find and cheaper.

It’s a bit of a ‘strong, light, cheap’  conundrum .

I’ve bought cheap stuff in the past, realised it was shyte and then bought more expensive stuff and realised that is what is should have bought in the first place.

    hope that helps 😁

Not the same but I’ve done this.

took off specialized tubeless tyre few years ago and tried to clean thick sealant off the bead by dragging it through a green pan scourer. Tyre was wobbly ‘for some reason’ after that.

did it again last month on a mint condition minion front and It was all over the place when I put it back on the rim, totally unusable.

wont be using that method to clean again as it drags the tyre and it bunches up along the bead.

Have tried and failed to get it anywhere near straight.

Use to ride regulary with Elliot heap and his RIDEMTB partner. Elliot started riding for CRC about the time I became a dad. Not seen him for a while.

4/5 years ago, we drove past pagey and ‘his mate’ on our way to ride the (Secret at the time) special-k track up rivi that we had helped to build.

mate showed me a video a few days later of pagey and ‘his mate’ Sam Hill riding special-k.

    Gutted 😕

Last pace you want to save weight is on rotors (floating not included)

less metal you have on the actual disc area will aid over heating and cause fade.

just banged 180s on my gravel bike due to being ‘ahem,a bit’ heavier than you and nature of  fast road descents is to drag the brake as apposed to stop/start on my mtb.

    difference in performance is notable

High percentage Isopropyl alcohol 1ltr off eBay (£5 ish) and a scrubby green dish cleaner thingy Carefully held on the disks as you rotate wheel in situ

no need for fancy packaged ‘specific’? Disc cleaner.

give the pads a scuff on your patio, spray  a TINY bit of silicone spray or chain lube on a toothbrush with bristles cut down to clean calipers and pistons and use same tooth brush to ‘Fairy liquid only’clean them again. use same rinsed toothbrush with isopropyl for final clean and rinse with water

done it for years with shimano, hope, sram, no probs.

    SHHH, don’t tell.

Not a campsite more slum glamping (slumping?)

holmewood bothy needs to booked well in advanced but so far it’s the finest place I have stayed in the lakes.

Basically a large secluded dry stone tent with your own little shingle beach on the bank of loweswater. 30min pedal to whinlatter , 10min pedal to the ( forgot name ) gastro pub with some serious real ales and superb views from the beer garden.

national trust owned site that will sleep 10 (If your sneaky) . Parking on the door step.

facilities include a log burner, oven, sink, gas lamps, table and bench, 👍

stayed a few times but not since hale bopp comet was in the sky,

The ranger will  provide rowing boats on request.

waterfall a short walk away (force scar I think?) provides your shower facilities and is garaunteed to cure the meanest of hangovers.

nice little walk up the hill? At the rear of the bothy.

    such a magical place.

Not been for a few years but

Bowkerstead farm, 10min walk to pub, 15min pedal to grizedale.

Slow shallow river on the edge of the site, has yurts and pods, large field  or secluded areas in the woods to pitch tents.

facilities are ok, fires are allowed,

arthur the owner is a nice chap.

Sold a mint full lx group I took off a 1990s sunn revolt a few years ago for not much money, worth a hellofalotmore to the retro crowd now a days.

Built a 456 frame up out of a old parts bin (XT bits, hope mavic wheels, fox fork), sold it as full bike 2 years later for peanuts.

gave a load of different bars, stems, cranks, rings, mechs to a bike charity a couple of years ago,,,,,,,, could really have done with them when trying to build a pub bike recently.

    moral to this story…..

Had a berghaus Paclight mountain climber version for about 8 years. Real good mtb jacket for the ‘heavier gentleman’ as its not skin tight roadie but fits the bay window just right.

Took a short cut in a rush and put nikwax cleaner and reproofer in the washmachine at same time.

    ruined a £250 jacket 😐
