Surly stainless ring every time for me. The little extra weight is no prob on a single speed and they
Last years. Just add an old xtr crank all polished

Spoke tension meter helps to get the tension even all the way round
Which makes for a durable wheel.
But I do get a bit lazy and only use it with very light wheels. Things like stans
Mmx rims and some of there 29er rims which don’t like lots of tension.

I spent years building wheels that were perfectly good without one. If your only
Doing a few for yourself there a lot of money

If you leave the bearing to long and they fall apart they are a right pig to remove. And they are only £40 for a full set from specialized

my fav method is much like above a washer and a bolf from a bmx crank ( they seem to be longer) . A 32 mm socket over the bb tool and a huge ratchet to jump on add a little heat too.

Both my sets of deus cranks now creak after about a year , dont think im alone with this either.

Shimano much quicker to fit no silly chain line washers to fiddle with.

But anything will be better than the gxp you have now

the park tool website is very good for tech advice

I have the am4 with flow wheels on my old 2003 sx and they have been perfect for the last year .

Very easy to fit with just tape and a valve ( track pump not compressor)

Stared with conti tyres and spesh captain at the moment both worked like a dream.

much the same as above 2003 fox forks still spot on and no wear on the coating , they get used loads but do get looked after .

Hope bulbs must be 11 years old still going as is my ti-glide on the single speed.

But my ride buddy killed his fox forks in 14 mounths of no servicing

Weight is not that important , yes i do have a 21 lb ti hardtail but its to fragile for many rides its more about fitness i will still beat my mates on my 35 lb pitch as i ride a lot more than they do

ive been useing the mavic valves just fime with mine , find them much better than the spesh ones. Also the sticky tape from joes no flats works well just a bit more weight.

My second 12 hour team race and we came 6 in the open male so well happy , most people seemed happy to move out the way and not hole you up . Will be back next year just not sure i could do it solo full respect to those that did
