You definitely want a direct drive turbo, no wheel, it gives the best feedback and responses. I had an Elite Direto until recently when I swapped for the Zwift Hub, the Hub is better in pick up and feels nicer than the Elite, it’s a good package for the price.

Typically they tried to deliver my wheels yesterday and hit the only time of the day when my wife was out walking the dogs…bah!
Hopefully they arrive today, right now they are still in the depot. Glad everyone is now receiving their goods.

My order (placed on the 19th of April) still hasn’t arrived. Apparently it was posted a week ago. Without tracking. Genius.

Do you wanna bet its been sat next to my parcel, still in the warehouse? It looks like the dispatch team are having difficulty keeping up with demand.

Magically, I’ve just received an email from Ribble (maybe they are reading this thread!). It turns out it was never dispatched, hence the Parcel Force number not working, etc.

Strange that it was just sitting in their warehouse for almost 2 weeks, but anyway, it’s now on it’s way…yayy!

I ordered some gravel wheels two weeks ago from Ribble, and they shipped within a few days. But from day one the Parcel Force tracking number wasn’t recognised, but I thought that was just a glitch. After contacting Ribble last Friday, it turned out that they hadn’t put my house number on the shipping, it was just the road name. Ribble contacted Parcel Force and they cannot locate it either, I was asked to wait and see if they turned up over the week, or if they could locate them in the meantime.

Still nothing arrived so I contacted Ribble again yesterday to ask them to send out another set and they can deal with Parcel Force about the missing items, as yet I have had no response. It’s not been a great experience.

Makuri, yes, with the Island expansion not too long back. France, Yorkshire, Innsbruck, have always remained the same I believe, (actually maybe Ventoux was added slightly later). There seems to be quite a few roads in France (on the Ventoux climb for example), blocked and going nowhere, it would be nice to see some expansion with them, many look “gravel”.

I’d rather see some of these existing worlds opened up further, instead of adding new ones with short routes.

Can’t comment on the table but I am doing the tour rides when able, Scotland also opened today for general riding with the latest update. I quite like Scotland, it’s very lumpy, shame they couldn’t do some longer routes though.

I believe the League, TTT, Tuesday races, etc, are on hold for now, Just Brian and DrP keeping the Sunday Hills alive, I always seem to have other things on (or a hangover) on a Sunday morning.

I just changed from a Elite to a Zwift Hub recently and it’s definitely a change, the pick up is much quicker especially on workout segments, its almost instant, the Elite tended to lag. I like it, definitely a positive change over the previous wheel-on trainer.

How have you got around explaining about Jaja Ding Dong? I’ve yet to let mine (8 and 10) watch the movie as the 10y.o. already has a lot of questions 😆

Luckily that question hasn’t come up yet!! The innocence of kids :)

Why on earth does anyone want to go? I am no music snob but **** me….

…because I have a wife and kids that love it, my daughter is 8 and she likes pop music and especially Sam Ryder who won it last year. She also loves the Eurovision film, so wanted to go, we live in Liverpool, it was a good opportunity.

Now personally I am not a fan of “Euro Pop” but I’m damned if I’m going to be a miserable **** and let her down, just cos it doesn’t fit in with the STW demographic.

    Have you got kids?? Jeez.

My wife managed to get 4 tickets for one of the evening semi final live TV shows. We live in North Liverpool so she really wanted to go as both her and our kids love it. We didn’t even try for the final as we knew it would be a sell out straight away.
    Looks like we got lucky.

Sorry chaps, forgot the alarm and woke late (may have been due to the red wine last night). Will jump on later and do penance with a big hill.

Brian…Send me an invite, I’m not sure of plans yet, family, outside ride or turbo, but always good to have an option. I’ll be there if available.

Robbo also got a Zwift Hub recently, he says its much better / faster on pick up and ERG than the Elite direct drive he was using previously, it’s also smoother. I’m seriously considering swapping my Elite to the new Hub.

A direct drive will definitely feel faster in response and acceleration than a wheel on trainer. As long as its calibrated correctly it should be fine, the FTP test will show. Get on a decent route with a hill and test it, it will be different but not too radical.

Perhaps you had the wheel set up too tight on the old trainer? ;)

    the truculent teen.

    is excellent.

I agree, had me laughing at some of her responses last night. Enjoying this series even though I had no previous knowledge of the game.

Well I for one, like New York. Maybe not after tomorrow when I have planned a Zone 2 ride around Everything Bagel. It’s sooo tempting to open the (very small) tank up the hills rather than ride at snails pace.

I always have “Must Resist!” in my head when it all goes off. I always fail hahaha

Well done lads, some good results there!

I missed London Stage 4 due to family commitments over the weekend, so already need to do that in the catchup week. I hope to get New York ticked off today or tomorrow, when time allows, I’m not sure which Cat to do, an evening would ideally be the long Cat A, but if I have to do it in the morning I am time crunched so will be one of the shorter ones.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Scotland routes.

So bit of a change of plan for Sunday hills – I’m going to pull the club ride this week as stage 4a of the tdz is Surrey Hills anyway and jump on there Sunday morning instead.

I was going to suggest the same, seems daft doing it twice!

Thanks Brian, if I’m not outside then I’ll be there.

I admire the altruism Phil but there are easier ways to improve your w/kg than chopping bits off you know!

I was going to say the same!! Well done Phil and I hope you are back on board soon.

My TdZ ride last night got postponed because I broke the bike 10 mins before the start…. Luckily nothing too bad and with a bodge I was back on this morning, all went quite well and its going in the right direction in terms of improvements.

Not sure if I’ll be inside or outside this Sunday, if there is a planned “Hills” ride with the group.

I did La Reine 2 weeks ago to get the badge, I swore then I wouldn’t be repeating it for a while…it will be the B ride for me tonight

Anyone doing tour du zwift this eve?? I’m gonna try for the 1900 A ride…

I am planning to be on the 8pm long ride, if I don’t get sabotaged by the family once I’m home :D

I can’t make many evening events unfortunately Brian, due to getting back home after 7pm most nights, I can do 7-30pm starts at best but it’s often frantic!!

Thanks again for yesterday, it was a good one to start and I even enjoyed the hill…weirdo! @kirky72 just join in the hills ride, we go at the slowest pace and no one is left behind, Brian and DrP don’t mind waiting at the top of the hills for us slower ones. :D
It all helps the progress to getting fitter on the bike.

Can’t make Saturdays unfortunately due to other commitments but wish you all well!

Just sowing a seed…anyone interested in picking up the Sunday Hills zwift rides again, whilst we are mid winter? It might help our FTP’s and climbing prowess along the way….(*not guaranteed!)

you’ve lost me… but i doubt i care anyway so no biggy 🙂

That’s fair enough, it’s a kind of a game after all, but we will have to take it into consideration when you do your next race report ;)

    Troubled.

Andor is supposed to be set at the very beginning of the Rebellion, and yet at the very end…well I won’t spoil it. So we’re now to assume that all the events of the rebellion that is depicted in Ep4 – that it is in fact rather than a desperate group of rag-tag individuals, but an army with a command structure, weaponry, and all that goes along with that happen in between the ending of Andor and Ep4?

Andor is meant to be set 5 years out from Rogue One / Episode 4, so I see this as either a flash forward so that we understand what the parts in the prison were being used for, ultimately the thing that kills Andor. Or that it is just an external shell at this point and needs a number of years for it’s internal fit out.

    Really enjoyed this series.

It was good to do one of those again after such a long time away. I’ll try join more as work allows, but I’m away the next couple of Tuesdays.

Cheers for making me test the legs 👍🏻

I’ll try join one of these when I can, but a late return from work and family commitments on Tuesdays and Thursdays usually limit me. I may need to do a late join with cold legs, which will be fun!

@oopnorth tried some Carnac ones recently – the gravel ones.
I think he said they sized up a bit small & cramped in the toe box.

That’s right, definitely size up if you are thinking of getting them, they have almost like a stunted toe box on them, so felt cramped. At least that was the case for me.
