Still not taken a bike to North America. I mean the continent, not the bit of track near Cut Gate.

So much legendary riding out there that I’d like to try. Whistler, Moab, Colorado.

That’s always been the catch with Oakley. I’d rather not fund Luxottica but I do like their products.

Depends on what you mean by checking.  Every time I clean the wheels, I run a rag over each spoke so if they are baggy or there’s any really nasty dings on them, I’ll pick it up.

Actually measuring the tension?  Only if I spot an issue with the wheel.

The usual STW MO is to recommend what you have and I have a current geometry Camino in medium at 5’10”. It’s a great bike for 90s style mountain biking around the Peak District.

So, from what you describe of your use case, I’d say the Camino is more bike than you need and something a bit more sprightly might be more engaging to ride.

Does anyone know off hand what colour squorx nipples are supplied with those DT rims?

    Manage people? No thanks.

Used to sit across from a few managers and they’d often say things like “we’ve got our eye on you for this side of the room”.

“Not if I see you coming for me” was my typical reply.

The other difference was they were all on personal contracts rather than salary with overtime. I’m pretty sure when people took those jobs, their actual hourly reward dropped.

@daz interesting that you were considering an endurance blend. I’m using Silca and really like the idea of their new endurance chip. However, £29 per chip is a lot when it only offers 15% increase in longevity in wet weather.

A UK wet mountain biking focused wax would be interesting.

It’s always a balancing act, but the heart should always get the casting vote.

I spent a good few years in a great bike, did everything I asked of it but it didn’t excite me. The new Airdrop is a less “special” bike on paper than it’s predecessor but it speaks to me. I’ve loved every single ride on it so far. Just looking at it makes me want to go and ride it.

Yeah, it’s that curve that feels like it’s supporting the front and back of my hand but nothing in the middle.

Perhaps I’ve gone too flat. However, the lever blade is vertical and accessible from the drops.

It does feel like there’s not a lot of bar left down near the plugs but I think that’s not something that would be solved by rotating the bars down a bit.

I use it more like a 90s mountain bike than a road bike so the position feels appropriate.

It’s only very slightly up from horizontal and my hands on the hoods are sitting about horizontal with the saddle.

It’s possible the saddle is too far forward as it’s 74° and an inline dropper post but the saddle is level, the cranks are 170mm on a medium and the cleats are all the way back in the slots.

Interested in answers to this. I’ve had the same for a while but assumed it was just because my MacBook is so old it won’t run the latest OS.

I’m a waxer. Rotating chains and a two crock pot system with thermometers. I enjoy the process. It doesn’t have to be as involved as I make it.

I will however, freely admit that the gap between hot wax and Smoove is a lot less than the gap between Smoove and oil based lubes.

Depending on what chemicals you are running through them, the seals can get ruined pretty quickly.

In theory, it should be. There’s more lubricating material getting to where you want it and no carrier to evaporate leaving space for more lube.

Also, there are no penetration issues with hot wax that you can get with Smoove/Squirt

Recently moved from Smoove to Silca Hot wax and happy so far.

I’d pull the car that displayed probable cause. Profiling is just one of the many issues we have currently with the criminal justice system.

@montgomery quick check on Amazon and it appears you can get a selection of knitting needles for less than £4.

Not only can you carry out your preferred activity, but you can save money doing it.

Just got balance, I’d like to add that I will not be going to the cinema on a Saturday regardless of price and especially so during the summer holidays.

Watching one of those bike fit James videos, he suggested that most people he sees need to go wider and very few if any, need to go narrower. A symptom of the fact that the cycling industry, particularly the road side, is designing for 68kg 20 yo professional athletes rater than their actual customers.

I’ve taken the GRX cranks off my gravel bike and replaced them with FC-M590 so add about 20mm to my stance width.

Normally in my hand luggage. There’s not much else useful to go in there that change go in the hold. If they have a problem with it, put it in your head. There’s no rule against hats.

It used to be that the top jockey was much closer to the cage pivot. These days, the distance is greater. Having a chain of the correct length fitted will put the cage forward and allow it to clear the cassette.

Find the right special interest site and you might get more than you paid for them.

On a serious note, over shorts or no padded tights, maybe. No offence, but if it’s touched your gooch, it’s a no from me.

I’ve found road shifters feel great initially with coated cables but they fur up at the shifter really quickly.

You get a lot less furring on MTB shifters but you also get less benefit to the coating.

I’m still running Optislick on the gravel bike but the MTB gets Shimano stainless. Big box of 100 picked up in the recent sales so they work out at pence each. Little squirt if buzzys slick honey in the housing and they’re great and stay so for a long time.

There are two sides to a pylon that can be switched out individually. There is a system of flags and wrist bands that ensure people don’t climb the wrong side when set to work.  You only climb past the signs you have a matching wristband for.

It could be that, or something else. All the markers I’m used to seeing were geometric shapes rather than hearts but a permit to work could easily say only work or apparatus identified with a green heart on a yellow circle. That would make it clear. Especially as you can’t work operationally in the electrical industry if you’re colourblind.

    Pixel 8 chrome browser.

Some thread titles are lining up to the right of the adverts using about 20% of the screen width.

I’d take a screenshot but can’t post it anyway.

Sounds very familiar.  For about a decade, I was in the best job I’d ever had. I was great at what I did and was also regarded as the best person for the new comers to learn from. Then the company decided to start forcing square pegs into round holes just at the start of the pandemic. I was moved from the fast paced reactive role where I exceeded to a project management role with no support for learning the policies and procedures that were new to me.

Long story short, two horrible years of stress where I was was still trying to do my best and making myself unwell trying.

Based on what I learned from that times I’d advise seeing the doctor and using any formal process your company has. Use your union if you have one although my Prospect rep was totally useless.

You may be one of the lucky few who works at a company that will listen and help but in most cases, they only pay lip service to employee care and mental health. It’s important to realise that this is the beginning of the end with your current employer. Start looking for a new job. Given where your head will be, this is easier said than done.

I now work somewhere where the knowledge and expertise I bring a massively appreciated and there’s so much less stress. Interesting, the old place is still hemorrhaging staff and still unwilling to acknowledge why.

    Best of luck with it.

Yep, if just swapping sides, unbolt, swap, retighten. If it does weep over time, you know what the problem is.

You might even get away without a bleed. Tying the levers back after this will help in two ways. Air will rise to the reservoir where it isn’t an issue and it will prove if they weep over night.

The bore on an SKF 20mm bearing is +/- 0.008mm. so even if that was the slackest hearing possible, adding more than 0.016mm of rust would make it too tight.

Get a block of crepe natural latex and rub it with that.  It’s how I clean the inside of my tyres.

I used to do this a lot.  Used a Dremel as the angle was easier.  Also used to wrap the area in electrical tape just in case of an slips.

It could be the same one. I seem to remember him sat out side in the sun, just talking sense. Think he also did a video about pedal kickback.

Edit. Glad I remembered the pedal kickback thing this morning. I’ve now found it. Cass Labs. Is that the same one you were thinking of?

Funnily enough, on Monday Bikerumour did a piece about how DT Swiss/Truckstuff are now making the brakes freely available. No more 2 year waiting list. Now in various black or silver combos with kevlar hose.

Wonder if that’s really why this thread popped up again

I heard that the Intense team were using Trickstuff brakes. They were just paid to put Lewis stickers on them.

Bit like every dh team back in the day with the M1
