Interesting Maxxis comment. I feel I understand the Maxxis MTB range pretty well but trying to translate that to Schwalbe has always put me off

Maybe the new (semi) radial tyres will sort that

Exactly how skinny are your legs?

They really aren’t . I think it might be the flex/relax cycle of the calf that walks them down.

As above, there is a hatred for cyclists and a desire to tag anything and everything negative on to them.

If you don’t mind me asking, who determined the LLD and by what method? I’ve known a few people he told this but it’s been pelvic alignment rather than the bones in the leg actually being different lengths. Because of this, so have even had the discrepancy switch from one side to the other.

If you’ve got Hunter’s use that. While DoT fluid is wet which will help, silicon lub is actually slippery

I like the idea of removing VAT from bikes but I remember when they did it with helmets. Suddenly got cheaper, then in a few months, it felt like they’d gone back up to the original price and a bit more.

Didn’t realise AQR were still going. Off on holiday in November. Half a week in Tremp and half a week in Ainsa

The benefit of the tube method is that the tube will help the tape conform to an uneven rim profile. More area in contact means better adhesion. It also helps squeeze out any air bubbles for the same reason.

It’s not necessary, but it makes for a nicer job.

You don’t say how old he is, but you could sort out the spoke tension so it doesn’t get worse and then leave the tube in. Explain that kit doesn’t grow in trees and he learns to look after stuff until he can afford to replace or repair it.

My bike was in various states of knackered when I was in my teens as I learned to fix my own bike, look after it while riding and learned to understand how much work I had to do to earn the money to buy the parts.

I have several large rolls of yellow stans/tesa tape. I got about 3mm wider than the internal rim width. Heat the rim, heat the tape, soap the tyre head, put a tube in and leave it 24 hours. Perfect, smooth wrinkle free tape that doesn’t. Peel away with the tyre and doesn’t leave residue on the rim.

You’re not alone. My job is a mix of desk work and field work. If I’m out in the field, I can go all day and not think about food. Tie me to a desk, at home or in the office and I’m constantly browsing for food. Everything from toast and butter to finishing off a half jar of olives.

To prove a point to myself, I once managed to fast for over 90 hours with no ill effect so it’s certainly not hungry.

I find avoiding breakfast works for me. Often eating makes me think I’m hungry

The cutout doesn’t need upgrading. It’s rated at 100A. It might be the fuse that needs upgrading. The box top right is a Comms until for the meter

From that picture, you’re not paying for street lighting. It’s a simple looped service. Doesn’t actually make any difference whether it runs to the neighbours house or a street lamp. In fact, the out going cable looks pretty chunky for a single lamp.

Supply cable comes into the cutout and the looped service goes out. This is seen in the bottom of the photo and is all DNO equipment so nothing to do with you, or the meter operated.

The supply then goes through the fuse which is the grey block protruding from the larger grey box. Then two cables, live and neutral run into your meter and a live and neutral come out of the meter to supply your property.

Don’t think we’ve been back to Afan after some locals at a football game tried getting territorial in the carpark.

As mentioned above there are a few factors. If you’re on a street adopted by the local authority then it’s not down to you to pay for the power used, street lighting is typically an unmetered supply.

Some confusion may occur if the terminology is not understood.

The cable from your supplier comes into a cutout. This is where the “looping” takes place. Whether the street lamp comes from the top or the bottom of the cutout only changes whether it not it shares your fuse. This is the fuse that may need upgrading for the EV charger.

It’s possible what the electrician has said was misunderstood it’s also possible they were wrong. I don’t like to be disparaging about others but I’ve seen it a few times where the incoming supply has been misunderstood

Now, it’s not strictly the case that the charger can’t be fitted on a looped service, just that the demand needs to be controlled until the delooping and fuse upgrade.

A photo of your supply including the cutout and meter would allow people to advise further

You can also use a big syringe. WITHOUT a needle,

I’m not suggesting we kill off the stupid people but maybe we could remove some of the signs and let the problem take care of itself

Agree with the above comments. Air pressure may be too low and causing you to run too deep into the stroke. Rebound may be too slow causing the fork to pack down further into the stroke.

Also worth keeping in mind that suspension helps with, but doesn’t eliminate the heating you get from going hard and it’s always a balance between comfort and performance.

I’m so old that I can remember a nurse at the local doctors surgery doing it with a syringe and a stainless kidney bowl under my ear. It felt lovely.

Paid for private micro suction earlier this year and it wasn’t anywhere near as nice.

I’ve not managed to ride park or winch and plummet on mine yet. All I’ve done is day rides around the Peak. It pedals really well. That of course depends on what pedalling well means to you. I love how active this bike is. It’s noticeably more active and gives more traction than the DW that proceeded it. It never feels mushy or bogged down like the weight travel or suppleness might suggest.

I have other bikes, but this is the only mountain bike I’ve ridden since I got it.
