I have a stooshie. It may well be the best bike I have event owned. I’ve raced cyclocross, commuted and done long road rides on it. If I had only one bike, this would be it without doubt.

Buy it, buy it, buy it.

First race of the season for me at Taunton. Rookie mistake of not starting nearer the front meant navigating the traffic for several laps. Dry, dusty, and horrifyingly quick.

It depends on what you’re after really.
Haldon off-piste is technical and twisty, it’s the sort of stuff you can ride but to do so very quickly takes a lot of skill in bike-handling and line choice to keep it rubber-side down.
Woodbury is mostly old-school 90’s style singletrack – there’s not really any hard, steep downhills but it’s a different kind of riding. It’s quite Thetford forest-like and swoopy.
Dartmoor is so big there’s something for all. The east dartmoor loop rivals the best loops anywhere in the world.

    Why not do it all?

The stooshie is an incredible bike. Mine took longer than expected to arrive but it is exquisitely made and rides exactly as well as you would hope. I have had custom bikes, off the peg bikes and the stooshie is my favorite by far. I love it.

Our lab gets 2-4 hours daily off the lead, plus longer runs at the weekend. He’s a fit little thing.

I consider my honzo in that category. It’s a monster that’s fun to ride normally but really, really, really likes being taken by the scruff of the neck and hurled at stuff.

I think the park wood would be a better choice, it’s a lot less racy and would be a lot more fun. It’ll do all of the day to day without being too heavy and it’ll rip through a Welsh trail centre

As a man that has destroyed a few alfines, I suspect that it’s spokes or rim, or almost anything but the internals – they tend to go “crunch-bang” and stop working.

Could be the centre-lock disc or spokes?

I quite like one on the front, its quite hard to beat really. Get the sticky version.

They grip well and are reasonably predictable, I run mine a little on the soft side on the front. On the rear (hard tail) I spank through them too quickly.

I converted my van to a camper at your age and then got specialist camper insurance which cut the premium by 2/3…

I disagree with a lot of the comments above, you’re clearly not going to be a testosterone fuelled, boy-racer in a van, just don’t drive like a pillock.

Got told off for taking the “cycle as slow as you can” literally…
