    Will have the dog with me so it’s either haldon, lusleigh or burrator for me today (need to avoid roads). mind you, i’ve not done much round drogo.

    Whereabouts Shinythings? Will also be playing outside about then. Was thinking of doing some burrator area stuff but could be easily diverted

    Take it easy to start with and build up his/her fitness. I ride with our lab all the time & I let him dictate the pace. It’s also worth investing in some ruffwear boots. Particularly good for trail centres!

    Very roughly, the route was supposed to be something like this;

    in the end I modified it so I’m looking forward to trying this again

    No need to face it. If you think about it it’s not the bottom bracket shell faces that align the bearings, it’s the relative orientation of the threads. The face just allows you to secure the bearing in the thread. I can’t find it now but somewhere I have a picture of a frame that had a really odd BB area that rather proves the point.

    Have you ridden a 90s Kona recently? I think not. If anything it will be faster and require less fitness…. They are bloody FLYING MACHINES!
    Light, direct, fast, and they climb like a rocket.
    They really are THAT good. That’s why they have such a following

    I second this. Was out on my explosif earlier & it’s a rocketship.

    If I had the money I’d have a hei hei with a disc brake mount and some Ti p2’s with a disc mount welded on.

    I have a sanderson soloist & am very happy. Have had on-ones in the past and they’re popular for a reason, they ride really nicely. Had a dialled love/hate and there was no love there at all – don’t know why, just never clicked.

    I think the Ticks that are there (and everywhere) pose a much bigger risk.

    They’re hard to spot apparently ;)

    From what I can see there have only been a couple of cases and they were strep A related, a bacteria that is on your skin etc normally anyway.

    Decoy? behave! wrong sort of trails my friend.

    There’s a lot of natural stuff at Haldon forest to be found, some of it loops along with the blue run, some with the red and loads is miles away.

    Lustleigh cleave is a fun place to play and the mbr dartmoor killer loop are pretty good starting points as is this killer loop;

    http://www.embc.uk.net/routes/killer_loop_dartmoor.html is ok

    the nutcracker decent is rather amusing.
