@stevomcd I think it’s partly galvanic from the steel bolts of the disc mount – a scratch in the anodising seems to have been the start – there’s about 1/3 of the width of the disc mount around the bolt turned to cheese as I did up the bolts replacing the disc mount (and I was using the approved torque)

Ta- just had a look on the bay – they all seem to be too new and so won’t fit as far as i know anyway.

On mine the disc mount is corroded so when it gets to the stage of binning them I’m afraid I’ll take a saw to them so they can’t kill somebody and see if anyone wants the rest as spares/repair. If i don’t buy some new lowers that is.

Teacher here – don’t do it.

As a secondary teacher I very rarely get a bottle of wine or similar and I feel embarrassed by every single one – despite the fact that it often comes from the parents of a child you’ve gone overboard for. I teach as a job that i love, not to get trinkets and tat. I would be mildly offended by a £30odd gift from a parent and refuse to take it.

Yep – that’s the line of stones I hit on Wed night. I didn’t quite see the trail closed sign & blatted on down the trail. Gave me quite the adrenaline injection.

what’s the off-road equivalent? ’cause I’ve experienced that often enough – tagging onto a ride or having a tag-along. Always nice to ride with others.

Oh yeah – I forgot about that, it was a pleasant surprise… Putting forks in for a full service & have ordered some Orange F8 to play with over winter if the weather stays like this.

I Rang you in the pub – ends 84 – so if the time was 2:30 ish you have my number as it were.

Well put SJ – spot-on. We are our own worst enemy.

Ride where you like footpaths included, just ride sensibly if you’re likely to come across others and be pleasant.

Sorry, typo. Sag is to about 100mm. The lockout and floodgate etc are fine. Sounds like the verdict is there’s not much better so get them serviced which i suppose is what i was wondering.
I’ll get on and strip them down then.
    Thanks all!

black lab here too. make sure you get one from good working stock though if you want it to run and run all day. As those that have ridden with Perrin the wonderdog will tell you, they’re pretty tricky to tire-out!

the short fork on a long travel bike will give the opposite feel to a klunker. it’ll be fun and twitchy etc but the klunker is a 67 degree head angle rigid – like a supersonic barge, rather than the relatively twitchy 456 with 80mm
    from on-one:

150mm fork up front the head angle is 67.3 degrees, the seat angle is 72.8 degrees and the BB drop is 11mm

    from klunker

67degree head angle, 68 degree effective seat angle.

I find my paramo stuff to be perfect – but it does a different job. It keeps me dry and warm when hiking and long biking when being dry for camp makes a big difference.

Mine is nickwaxed but still not very waterproof but that’s not really the point. I most often wear a helly or merino (smartwool) top with the buffalo over the top. I get sweaty & dry out. I get rained on and dry out. I’m always warm enough.
I run with a pack too so it’s really nice to be able to clip the waistband through the jacket. The hoods are rubbish so I tend to take a polypropylene hat and gloves if it’s cold.

I have their pertex shell for fell-running & I love it dearly. It’s 15 years old ish, been stitched together uncountable number of times and still going strong.

No one can find me any info about this kids bike, except it is possibly a “Trusty”

in true STW style I’m going to say how wonderful I think my 310XT bought off here is. A quick upgrade to the watch software and it’s now good for swimming, cycling and running.

Yunki – most of the lumps are to try and contain the trail width rather than kickers but the inexperienced seem to ride over them.
That said, it’s possible to get a nice bit of air off the one at the top of the rise if you’re tanking round & the one next to the bridge is possible if you ride-in on some cheeky stuff.

This is down by the river next to Bellever.

Five ten make a very skate oriented spd shoe – it’d be nice to have an XC one with a recessed cleat and rubber that still grips rock.
