I had an xtracycle in an old explosif frame for years – I moved house with it twice. It was ace but if I was able to afford a new cargo machine I’d have a harry vs larry long bike.

I’ve considered getting a bike tattoo. You know how sometimes when your leg brushes against the big chain ring it leaves an oily black market like 5/6 teeth , I was thinking of having that made permanent, just something simple & only other cyclists would get it.

Very drole, careful you’ll only encourage someone.

I have never had this, though I do have a 6-8inch scar down that part of my calf where the chainring bit in during a road bike crash many years ago.

So potentially by having the brakes on the same side then the vibrati8ns could cancel eachother. I’mnot convinceda bike is a linear system, I also think the chances of the brake input at both ends being equal at any time during a ride are so low that it probably makes no difference. Good practice to think like this though, and chapaeu to andyl for raising it.

Alternatively, in a complex situation you may have resonant effects and create all sorts of adverse goings on.

the primary reason for having discs on one side is that that is what we have & the mass market don’t like to be challenged with differences. I don’t believe that there is any significant difference, especially for a post-mount.

I really, really like the old shimano roller-clutch hubs. Ultimate stealth, instant take-up and I had one for 5 years on the singlespeed with not a single moments maintenance.

I do 10k or so in some every day. they’re awesome so long as your running technique is ok. It sounds like a cliche but I had all sorts of joint issues running in trainers but havn’t had any bar the off sore calf incident with these. total revelation.

The north is much nicer, more friendly and less touristy and there is a fantastic mulit-day ridge walk along the top of the island from east to west (or vice versa).

Aside from illegally occupying the island still…
I’ve found the south to be superb – the Akamas peninsular is very much worth a visit on foot & these guys http://www.mountainbikecyprus.com/ apparantly run a good mtb tour.
alternatively a quick search on the various mapping and tracking sites will prove successful http://connect.garmin.com/activity/257080619

I made my wife’s and mine to match out of a tempered tool grade stainless (a D2 alloy for those in the know) 7 years of constant wear and no corrosion and barely a scratch. Given that I’ve even left it on whilst bouldering occasionally and it’s been hit with a hammer to demonstrate strength in a class I’m quite pleased.

I doubt you’d notice particularly by the time you had it built up. I did have a frame built from coloumbus ultrafoco a little while ago which was noticeably light but by the time you’ve built it up it’s lost in the noise. The advantage of the 853 is in it’s UTS so you can in theory push thinner wall thickness but to be honest a usable frame has a lot of tube thickness redundency just so you don’t ding it with a careless sneeze. It depends on how the bike is designed etc as to how it affects the handling.
That said you’re clearly looking at a custom frame in which case you might as well go primarily for the framebuilder you like or if you have the choice, go for 853 for the badge and the perceived “prestige” in case you have to sell it.
