I cannot eat a packet of crisps without folding the bag and tying it into a knot. Tick
I add up numbers such as reg. plates, phone nos. etc. until I get to one digit. Tick
I cannot sit in a cafe, conference etc. with my back to the room.

And texts must be punctuated properly – Tick

However, this thread is very intriguing otherwise as it’s made me realise how different my complusions are to most; I can’t abide order and symmetry and will deliberately unstraighten things, randomly place things in the cutlery drawer, random jars – all on different shelves, and if ever I found my CDs in alphabetical order…..deep breath trying not to combust…..I’d self-combust!

Oh yes and definitely odd pairs of socks.

Has that horrified enough of you?!

Add up series of numbers, do things in multiples of 3 (avoid multiples of 4 AT ALL COSTS!), and I detest treading on the cracks in pavements (does that count? My Dad told me that bears will come out and eat you if you do when I was very little – the fact that I haven’t been eaten yet as I have avoided the cracks for 40+ years is surely proof that he was right?).

Fairly convinced that most things on this thread are utterly normal and sensible. Oh dear.

EDIT: Actually, the symmetry thing and the yoghurt / shelf thing are a bit mad. In my opinion. Can’t stand symmetry.

Yeah pretty sure Hels – very small company (run out of someone’s shed!) they only have a couple of vans. Good point though I will dig out the paperwork and check again.

Thanks TJ. Didn’t think of it (so rarely need a van) but lesson learnt! Also expected hire co to do it, frankly.

    Cheers

The Swede. I’ve still not quite got over the FannyBashers thread.

I’ve just been caught with a van I hired last weekend – hire co rang to say big dent in the side when they got it back. I went up and looked after work and there is a large, deep angry dent all along the lower sill. I am absolutely baffled as it’s that bad it would have made an almighty bang, and I never left the van while we had it and not aware of any impact etc.

Still, I didn’t pick the damage up on the initial walk round (had a good look so don’t believe it was there) and it’s there now. All I can think is it may have happened when parked on the road overnight after I took it back, although I doubt it as it’s a big, sliding impact. And it’s a £750 excess (there was no option to reduce it), so I think I’m totally snookered. Just baffled how it happened.

Hire co has gone to a garage they know for a quote, nasty feeling it’s going to come back at £751, so I’ll have to arrange for another couple of quotes. All to pick up a £50 coal bunker!

Best wishes to the family – sounds trite but meant.

    Poor fella.

I understand that her government wilfully provoked it by removing the naval defence of the Falklands weeks before Argentina claimed sovereignty – when the intelligence was all pointing to a possible invasion.

Can anyone think of a policy or action of her government’s that was actually a good idea and did the country some good? I’m certainly struggling.

Does the .45 semi-calibre pass the STW “things allowed in Camelbak” regulations, then?

Cleaning bike – no. It’s a singlespeed. It never gets cleaned.

I think the only nutter in our deep, dark primeval woods at night is me……

Did it last night (in order to meet up with those man enough to ride after the rain, and to get home again afterwards). Lots of dense, dark remote woodland to go through. Don’t even think about it anymore.

All the above common sense advice should apply, but it’s like riding solo in the day really.

I had a go for the first time last Sunday. Similarly confused, I went for Vets. God it was tough. Or maybe I’m just rubbish. Good fun, though. Worth starting in a fun category with hindsight I would have thought just to get a flavour of it, unless you’re used to regular racing.

Munque – Have been considering Morocco for some time, what level of difficulty / technicality would you reckon the trails were with CycleActive, as I notice pads being worn in your pics? Technical numpty here. Realise that this is a subjective question, but can’t think of a better way of asking it.

Very nice, Mr Nutt. Does the speedo do the wobbly thing between 30 and 50 in towns?

    I like very much.

I know a lot didn’t like it – but hey, good art should result in strong opinions – but I really enjoyed Clorophilla (sp?), shot very well in my opinion by some Italian amateurs. They really picked up well on the natural side of things, and were innovative in their use of music and the sounds of the bike.

Very much not just some jump tricks set to heavy metal.

I’ve used one as a rear around our way for a few weeks and have largely been happy with it in performance terms – not had the problems described above but then I had come from Conti Speed Kings and have no rocks around our way.
Haven’t noticed cornering problems, the only issue I have had (which is pretty poor, admittedly) is that I pretty much killed it after a few weeks’ use with a large flint cut across the tread. It’s currently held together with the toothpaste tube trick, but I suspect it hasn’t got long.

A horrible, horrible Giant hybrid (with panniers – yay!) circa 1999 that weighed about 18 stone even before I got on it. It cost 99 quid from memory (new) and I rode it every week for about 6 months in the Surrey Hills. It was truly sh*te!

My brother still rides to the station across fields on it every day, despite it having been on life-support for the last 5 years!

Apologies for the slight hijack, but does Jedi cater for the “lesser-skilled” rider as well – most of the comments on here about him, while always complimentary, seem to be in relation to pretty advanced tuition? Is he aiming only at already-skilled riders?

Any challenged / nervous riders been on one of his courses, or is it just the semi-pros?

I bought a Superstar s/s hub which was a little light on grease – when I greased the freehub, I was devastated when it went almost silent. ASs noisy as possible for me.

People who insist on practically sitting on you on the train and who then proceed to talk loudly about f-all all the way to the end. Especially if they stink.

    (It happened this morning).
