Did the Mint Suace keyrings ever turn up?

    Let’s see…..

    Shave (5 times a week) 1 minute
    Mop up blood 10 seconds
Shower 1 minute 30 seconds (includes water warming time)
    Get dressed 3 minutes max.
    Teeth 2 mins x2

That’s 7 mins 40 seconds – any more and I’ll miss the train.

Maximises time in bed, any more is pointless, you can’t make a purse out of a sow’s ear etc.

usually ride on my own largely because I get precious little time and it tends to be spontaneous – most of my riding buddies live some distance away and by the time we’ve all sorted ourselves out my precious time has gone for another week. Also beacuse I really enjoy the peace and time to myself.

Will go to Wales, Shropshire etc for a few days when I can on my own too. I have no problem at all with it.

Can I just say this is the second time I’ve appeared on this thread?

Envious. Want to do the same. Did you have to build all the tools *the twirly thing with a handle and jig) too?

Does that bird have no feathers on its legs? Is this the latest bird fashion? And why is it standing on a giant hand?

Mrs O is from the Philippines – the attitude to time there probably makes the Brazilians look quite uptight! To her absolute credit though she has adapted well to my endless terror that I might one day be 2 seconds late for something, although she is amused by it. We’ve got to the point now where going back home for her can be quite frustrating.

She did ask me early on in our relationship why I bothered stopping at roundabouts in the car and didn’t just continue regardless; I made her have lessons!

But importantly she regularly quotes bits of Python AND finds Father Ted hysterical. So that’s all good.

Impressive rage there Nick but still doesn’t get close to Joe Dolce (as brought to us by Nobby).

Nobby, I think you win it. I forgot that truly vile catastrophe.

Never. I just can’t find enough time to ride, sadly.

    and

“la la la-la la la” (Kylie Minogue). My mrs sings the second one to me when she’s annoyed with me about something.

Impressed at your skills. Not sure I’d got as far as actually talking to the opposite sex within 7 years of leaving college.

I hit a result with Mrs O’s birthday last week, I was in a panic the lunchtime before but then went into a bike shop. One Rockshox Reverb seatpost later, result.

Seems to have gone down well, but waiting to see if it comes back up again just as well.

Excellent post Captain and agree with the sentiments entirely. However, I don’t know this girl and so am not sure what to write in the letter – any tips?

I’m 6′ 2″ and don’t like low bars (knackered back plus an impressive ability to go over the bars); by not cutting down the steerer I have managed to get my saddle pretty close to being level with the bars. It works for me (large Soul).

Hmmmm…..all I can say is that this thread is way, way better than the endless dull and dreary “aspirational” car threads that keep appearing.

    6 for me

    3 for mrs o

    Oh yes and a tandem.

Positive amateurs compared to mr and mrs kilo but like them we are different sizes and mrs o couldn’t ride when we met. Now she points out unusual forks etc when we see bikes (as if I hadn’t noticed…..!)

    What’s mediaplayer please?

Errr, it came up with some odd-looking thing called Roxio Creator Classic when I put it in the D Drive. But that says .m4a on the “Data disc project” whatever that is.

Actually the file manager I opened shows .cda just to confuse things.

    I feel 100 years old!

Kate Winslet was in it and it wasn’t Titanic. So 8/10 then.

Generally 50+ per week at work but commuting time puts 3+ hours on that each day (admittedly I don’t work much on the train – great place to catch up on sleep).

With that attitude, you’ll be back pedalling in no time. Keep it up!

The sequence where they are singing in the front of the van is one of the best bits of TV ever, in my opinion. Hilarious series!

Wear an ipod. They always make them silent so no-one will know it’s you. Works on the train every day for me.

I think you’d need the ant to actually reach the speed of light to sufficiently up the ante.

You can kill a snail by dropping it out of a window into a bowl of salt. I don’t know if dropping an ant out of a very high window into a bowl of salt would work, but you’d need a good aim and factor in cross winds and stuff.

    How does the horse splash?

Do ants always land on their feet or is that cats?

I live near Amersham – there are few bridleways actually out of town itself, but go immediately north to Chesham and there’s a great network; east towards Chenies and there’s also a good few to choose from (and Shire Lane down towards Denham). Follow the canal up towrds Berkhamstead for a different type of terrain, and as stated, can be cobined with the Wendover area (train from Amersham – Wendover a good option when it’s wet). West Chilterns if you have transport over from Henley is superb.

Best way to start off is to join West Drayton MTB club social rides (good internet site).

Look forward to seeing you around!

Just pack some mud tyres for this time of year.

“Have you got a criminal record?”

For another job, I had to go and see the top man for the final interview. I had been told by my prospective boss that he was into management BS and his phrase of the week was “catching the wave” (and yes he did wear colourful braces). I still cannot believe and it is to my eternal shame that I actually came out with that answering some question about my “ambition”. In my defence, I was rather desperate for a job at the time.

Regularly used to crawl between Hannover and Manchester on an ATP. Hugely enlivened once when an engine went out just as they brought round lunch. We did come did quick! The Captain said that he’d rather do those sort of acrobatics in a turboprop than a jet, but I can’t remember why now.
