OK. Between 6pm – 7pm it bloody is!

irbandito – 1 hour 20 between Kings Cross and Liverpool Street? Don’t see that’s far off the mark. I do that journey everyday as part of my commute and if it’s a hot/wet/cold/cool/misty/sunny/clear/foggy/day-ending-in-a-y day then there will be the usual chaos and it’ll probably take longer.

In fact, I’m off later to brave it. I’m just going out for a while, I may be some time.

Blast. Finally got nice weather so determined to try to get out for a spoin tonight and will miss it. (Mind you the trains are guaranteed to be really late on a nice evening).

Quite by coincidence, mine suddenly decided to undo after months of being happy yesterday. By the time I noticed I’d lost one and the rest were hanging on.

132 km in the Chilterns. Mind you, it was dry.

Absolutely brilliant. Hopefully this will be the launch-pad for cycling entering the mainstream and being taken seriously now in the UK.

I admit I only took an interest this time and was furiously trying to work it all out, but the finale yesterday was soooooo exciting that I even considered riding a road bike for a moment – never thought I’d say that!

Seriously, tremendous effort and so good to see genuine, modest down-to-earth sportsmen win.

I can see that I need to change my running warm-up routine. I’d better just watch this again for the 454th time in case I’ve missed any subtle stretching technique.

Heavy rider here. I have X2s on my bike and love them. I’ve always used very second-hand brakes and am delighted by how good my new x2s are. No issues at all stopping (183 on the front).

Yes, yes and yes. I am currently going through a particuarly vile bout of soul-searching and wondering what the past few decades have been about – I have a big mortgage, a small pension that reduces in value daily and seemingly negligible job prospects.

Ah well. Probably just need to cheer up a bit.

Yes I was going to ask who it was that voted her into “second best” place? The EDL perhaps or maybe BNP/UKIP?

Anyhow. I can’t imagine for a second Mr A Blair attempting anything as ridiculous as trying to take the Labour Party leadership – the man is loathed and surely unelectable now. Unpopular with the unions, with the left, with the famed “middle ground”. However, I reckon the Cons are daft enough to try with him (they even tried with Michael Howard!), and the politics line up neatly, surely….?

    Can’t wait – it’s on Mrs O’s alarm!

Dunno. I feel old and worn-out most of the time now and bits of my body keep letting me down. That’s just age I suppose.

But I suspect that it was after my ex-mrs left me and then one day I realised just how pleased I was that she had. A real revelation and allowed me to feel happily justified being all bitter and twisted.

It is hard in the slop, barely got above a fast walking pace all year, but still grab any chance I can get (current once a week is doing my head in) to get on to my bike (mtb). It’s the place I’m really happy.

Khani: “I have a mrs..dried clay all over the house + mrs does not compute either…”

    I sympathise!

Never get much time but any free time is spent on the bike regardless of weather. I would go nuts if I couldn’t. The mud is driving me mad though….when will it stop?!!

I get ’em a lot, usually for a couple of days after riding the bike (banging and popping as I write this) and while on the bike – seems to be as my HR is shifting back down. Sometimes enough to really blow my breath out of me and give a dizzy spell. I thought they are pretty normal, though.

I did go to A&E a couple of years back with chest pains after a very hard spinning session, they picked up a weird heartbeat trace but doc said it was probably genetic and I’d just overshot a bit. Tried to calm down a bit since then and in any case I’m getting old and wearing out everywhere!

Hi Muddydwarf. Good to meet you at last.

Cracking event, we really enjoyed it. Hope they run another Marshbrook one next year – it’s a brilliant area to ride.

    Cheers

I found a problem with the rear wheel going out of skew (on t’ treddle!) when I braked hard – cured by really doing the skewer up tighter than a tight thing.

    Just an observation.

    Sorry. It’s shortlived. From weatheronline:

“Pressure should begin to rise through the third week of July, bringing at least a brief but pleasant spell of summery weather, that said it won’t be ‘blistering’ either and there’ll always be showery activity in the forecast.
As we move into August the pattern again shows signs of destabilising with low pressure taking hold once more from off the Atlantic, more general rain and cloud affecting all regions of the UK.”

What about flying a key from a kite or something and waiting for lightning to strike it? There’s a lot of power in lightning, apparently.

Or, I’m sure the A team did something with some old oil barrels and lengths of pipe when they were trapped and needed some power urgently. Can’t quite remember the details, but a quick run through their shows on DVD would probably reveal the answer?

Could you move the site to one where there are several leylines colliding and use the resulting forcefield to power everything?

    Trust that helps.

Perfect for the home-made “No Bikes!” signs springing up on the bridleways round my way. Better than just ripping them off would be some of these – about to email.

So long as the suit fits, as you say you’ll probably hardly use it so I wouldn’t give two hoots what it looks like. Go black suit as it’s easy and don’t bother with the trendy nonsense.

Tie definitely. Pretty surprised indeed that you can’t tie one!

Agree with the no greenery comments and that cheese is unnecessary clutter. A fish finger sarnie should be pure and straightforward, but invigorated by a dirty great splodge of ketchup.

Mashed up? Brown Sauce? No, no, no….wrong on so many levels!
